God is JUST, He is sovereign and no one but Him can determine the fate if your soul. He is merciful and Jesus says, ‘Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.’ Matt 5:6. Pray about it and trust in God if you are faithful to Him He will not reject you. I am praying for you. 🤍
USA Christian people on the outside perceive exclusiveness of the ethnicities, the foreign cultures & foreign languages in the Eastern Orthodox churches in the US. Plus difficult to find Orthodox near where they live.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be damned. Notice he leaves out baptism in the second part. Jesus' words are intentional here. Was the thief on the cross baptized? God's grace is bigger than us. We say God have mercy... it's rhetorical, He IS merciful. Those who seek Him in repentance will find mercy in the arms of a loving God. We are bound by God's decrees, God is bound by nothing.
1. the Thief on the Cross was under the old covenant 2. The Thief on the cross didnt have an opportunity to get baptized. same as a baby, if an infant dies, does he go to hell? No. because God knows he genuinely didnt have a chance to get baptized. the same goes for the thief on the right. John 3:5 : Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God 1 Peter 3:21 : And that water is like baptism that now saves you -- not the washing of dirt from the body, but the promise made to God from a good conscience. And this is because Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. The Shepherd of Hermas (70-80AD) : “‘I have heard, sir,’ said I [to the Shepherd], ‘from some teacher, that there is no other repentance except that which took place when we went down into the water and obtained the remission of our former sins.’ He said to me, ‘You have heard rightly, for so it is’” St Clement (bishop of Rome) who was a disciple of St Peter himself says : “For thus hath the true prophet testified to its with an oath: `Verily I say to you, That unless a man is born again of water, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. For thus the prophet has sworn to us, saying, "Verily I say to you, Unless ye be regenerated by living water into the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.” every single Church father and Apostolic Fathers too taught that Water Baptism is necessary for Salvation! Christ taught the same thing. stop preaching heresy and submit to Orthodoxy.
The Lord, when the Canaanite woman besought Him, answered twice, I am not sent but to the lost sheep of Israel, and again, It is not meet to take the bread for children and cast it unto dogs Meaning, Come and join Israel, the Church, and partake of the Bread for the children of the Church which is not for wolves For He also spoke in the same manner when saying to the rich young man, Why dost thou call Me good? None is good but God, meaning, Dost thou admit Me as God?
(1) you made a comment about the idea that a person who hasnt hitherto been a believer could simply ask for mercy on their deathbed. I understand your concern with those who are using this to justify a life of sin. But as you stated it, you left it implied that death bed mercy isnt available in that manner. Which is an extremely irresponsible, inaccurate, and dangerous thing to teach. (2) the woman came to Jesus beieving that Jesus had power, or she would not have came. Her faith was weak, but she had it.
I’m on the path to become a Catechumen. If I die before I’m accepted in the Church will Christ receive me?
I have been on the road to Orthodoxy it's been a long journey with bumps and roadblocks but still I travel on
You would go to Hades if you died as a Catechumen, and if you had genuine faith, then you will be released at the Resurrection.
If there is an intention, there is hope.
