Julius Röntgen (1855-1932) Violin concerto no1 in A minor (1902) Movement 1 : Allegro ben moderato Movement 2 : Lento Movement 3 : Finale: Allegro non troppo
Röntgen was mainly a violinist, above all a great second violin of the famous Kneisel Quartett (founded by Franz Kneisel). It's astonishing to think about how many violinists back then had the ability to not only perform but also create the beautiful music they played. I hope one day I can reach up to that goal.
This might be my pick for greatest violin concerto of all time. If not, then it's really, really close. I've owned this recording for a while now, but looked it up on TH-cam. LOVE showing the score (or, at least most of the score). That's completely fascinating! Can't imagine how much work went into doing this, I'm blown away. Anyway, my favourite Violin Concerti of all time, if I were to name my top 5, this would be in it. I can't even comprehend why it's not more popular.
I will buy all those marvelous violín works. Please keep publicizing violin compositions for violin solo and or with piano or orchestra accompaniment. Thank you very much. Total blessings
A thoroughly enjoyable concerto with memorable and hummable themes. It is sad some people, who place themselves on a pedestal, give a work a 'thumbs down' when, in the event they are music lovers/students/critics/composers, have themselves accomplished NOTHING!!!!
does anyone know if this piece was featured in a movie or any other popular form of film? It sounds very familliar and I just cant figure out where I have heard it before. thanks!
..I have tears in my eyes imagining the exquisite Arabella Steinbacher playing this .... jeez ''effin christ..!!!!... kinda crystalline & carnal.... many thanks Henri..!
And once again still yet another composer I had never heard off. Thank you for uploading this treasure.

kritischbiszumschluss Well, hurry up and start composing. I'm 72 years old and may not be around sooner or later.
same!
Apparently, he helped to found the now famous Concertgebouw Orchestra. He was also friends with Johannes Brahms and Edvard Grieg.
0:02 I - Allegro ben moderato
14:50 II - Lento
25:57 III - Finale: Allegro non troppo
Bravo bravo bravo fantastic grandiose music concerto super virtuoso
The performers of this beautiful concerto are: Deutsche Staatsphilharmonic Rheinland-Pfalz, director David Porcelijn and violin Liza Ferschtman.
Боже! Какие скрипачи ! Каждому памятник ставить надо!
Why is this beautiful music so little played in concert halls? There is so much beautiful music next to the well-known repertoire.
It's probably because the composer isn't well known like the others

That's not the right concerto, you send The Schuler Konzer ( easy concerto in 1st pos. ) when this one is the Concerto in A minor.
