Me my mum all use the mate 20 pro, I got mine on contract when it was released, still got it now, you can get a mint unlocked one for about £120 and the battery and super charging is spot on.
Best phone I've ever had hands down. I also origionally got my first one on contract but have since bought preloved ones for husband and sons. Still so fast even nearing into 2025
It's surprising how well this holds up till date. This phone got better with updates. Currently running my primary Sim on it and I have pleasantly surprised with everything.

Same here. No wait, since novemeber 2018. That's 5 years. Upgrading to another phone that costs 800 - 900 USD new seems like a waste since the Huawei Mate 20 Pro works so well. The improvements vs costs of a new flagship phone is in favor of my trusty old friend Mate 20 Pro.
I originally bought 2 Mate 20 Pros - main and backup. I have since upgraded to a Galaxy S23 Ultra, but I still have one of the Mate 20 Pros as my backup - they're that good. The other one is now being used by a friend and still going strong.
Amazing phone! I love it but it recently started to shut down in very hot weather. Only can be turned back on after some time in a fridge! Sounds like CPU needs reballing... What a shame :(((
Those old Huawei's were great quality for what you paid back when they were new and quite impressive that they still hold up against a decent mid-ranger phone nearly 5 years later. As for the updates,Huawei deserve credit for deciding to go back to them for older phones even if they are still stuck on Android 10, there have been far more recent Motorola's and Samsungs that got a couple of years of updates and that was it,though things are improving now. There was zero financial benefit to Huawei for doing this.
I agree, they're still great to use. Plenty for most people despite their age! Even the P30 Lite that I did a video on had reliable performance. Just shows you don't need to overpay if you don't need to!
I have emui 12 now and it works fantastic. I will keep this thing till it falls apart:) only thing I will change is the accu, but after near 5 years being a workhorse everyday it has earned the right to get one:) I love the camera, the pics are amazing, Face id, fingerprint sensor,two Sim card slots, one for Sim one for nano SD. this thing has it all. If you think it was released 2018,what a time ahead the huawei technicians were with this, unbelievable! I paid 800 euro 2018 get a gratis huawei tablet with it, and I swear it was worth every damn penny. If I look yet around, I don't know, Samsung s23 for example, 950 euros, no great storage, bad camera.. Naaaaaa... I keep my beloved mate 20 pro forever🥰
Remember my Huawei P9 cost a lot less than other flagship phones at the time (2016?). But the Mate 20 Pro were pretty most the same price as competing brands back in 2018. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I still use this phone until now! December last year, i was drunk & my M2Pro fell and broke the screen. I took it to the Huawei service center, and they gave me a new machine phone bundle including a new battery!! and lucky me at that time huawei serviceday discount! I thought about switching to the newest iPhone or Xiaomi or Huawei P50pro or Mate40pro, but... I don't know, this phone feels very compact in the hand and can still multitask smoothly!! even i run genshin impact for 2 years on this phone!!🍻
I have it also about 4 years now but the display is a little bit burned in and the battery is not as good anymore i dont know if i should replace the display and battery, i could get that done for 150€, or if i should invest in a new phone like the samsung s23 ultra for about 9 times that price for the repair of the mate 20 pro

The Mate 20 Pro is a great phone. The only reason to go for a newer mid range over this would be for the newer android versions. I replaced mine with an S22 Ultra but being the Exynos version, it wasn't that great as it took ages to boot up and the battery life was very much a downgrade.

@@gamezo5047 I'm sorry to say I don't think there are many options unless you want to pay for it to be repaired (which at this stage probably isn't cost effective). Its a great phone but I just had to cut my loses and get a new one
Everybody needs to know that there is a failure bug because if you use the face recognition and you cut out two white pieces of paper and you put it over your eyelids when you're sleeping sleeping the phone will unlock😢 so don't use this feature if you are sleeping around strangers all I need is a white piece of paper cut out two fish shaped pieces of paper the size of eyelids and place them on the sleeping person eyes and aim the phone at the face of sleeping person and the phone will unlock trust me I've tried this more than 20 times and it opened every time so I'm not happy with this security feature
I'm planning on getting the Huawei Mate 20x 5g. I still have the Huawei Mate 20x that I can't use anymore because of the whole advertisement of the whole 5G. I was forced to get a free phone from my carrier that I didn't want. No other phone for me that could replace the Huawei Mate 20x. It has everything that I like and want about it. The Huawei Mate 20x 5G is also another phone that more than a few people love.

I've got 2, blue and black. They're rocking anything out there today ir blaster laser facial recognition so you can unlock it in complete darkness. Water proof I've had it in the shower and in the bath don't tell my girlfriend. 😮 Stereo speakers beautiful beautiful looking phone and a sexy red power button. Kirin processor 40watt charger a full charge from 0 to 100% in 50mins the list goes on.

I got this used and absolutely love it. I did get a screen protector but the fingerprint sensor still works, so maybe you just got a bad one.
Yeah I must have, did feel a bit thick so not ideal for the fingerprint reader.

Good idea! I went from reviewing the P30 Pro back to this, the P30 Pro camera was definitely better, but this one still performed well.
