    Last lap coming up on turn 10, I was just looking at the McLaren and Tennis Ball Porsche so didn't see the yellow flags at all. Love how you did the replay. Great reminder to pay attention driving past flag stations. Excellent video.
    Great to see Matt and Larry's new toys at the track. 👍

      Agreed-some of the flag stations aren’t very visible, so you really have to make an effort to spot them.
      It’s definitely a learning experience.

    It’s always interesting to drive along with really capable cars at the track, but the drivers are so variable. Wealth doesn’t correlate well with driving capability. You’re keeping up with a 720s and suddenly you’re passed by a loud E30… its hard to learn much other than it’s important to have fun.

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed! That’s why it’s so important to choose a track car you feel comfortable pushing.
      Driving at 5/10ths out of fear takes all the fun out of it.

    Great laps! Nice to see someone gets track time in December. 😎
    That Dark Horse R is the DH Challenge car. Approx 3700lb + fuel and driver, mostly a stripped down stock Dark Horse, even down to the wheels, race ready interior, very little aero ... should set a similar time to a stock GT350R, track dependent. The GT4's are engineered by Multimatic and designed to run in global GT4 (various series and BOP rules) ... different all together.

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! Interesting info.
      I’ve seen that Multimatic produces several variations of these cars, including GT4 and GT3 variants, but this is the first one I’ve spotted on track. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the others in the future.

    Personally, I would have liked rain at more sessions if possible, but I had AWD and street tires (stock Hyundai IONIQ 5 N in Advanced group). The pace was off a dry lap, but it was much more gratifying from a car control perspective. Would you have run had non-slick tires been available, or does rain mean no track for you?

    How do you compare the slicks you have compared to something like.cup2rs? Whatbis the make.of the pads you are running. Great video and feedback. Thanks!

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m running Hoosier R7s, and they typically last about 12 heat cycles.
      When I used Cup2 Rs, they only lasted 2 heat cycles before they were completely spent. The grip was comparable during the first heat cycle, but after that, the Cup2 Rs’ performance dropped off dramatically. I wouldn’t buy another set.

      Oh and the current pads I'm using are Race Technologies RE10s.

    Merry Christmas and keep the videos coming, loving the content. I think you are going to get a bunch of time trail braking on certain corners of this track. Also, left foot braking will shave off some time for sure. Have you thought about Pagid RSC1 or RSL pads? A lot of the guys in my UK circle and our trips to the Ring in Germany run these with great success.

    • @ItsTrackTime

      Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
      It’s awesome to hear that some of you guys across the pond are watching!
      I always appreciate tips from others on improving lap times.
      I tried Pagid pads once, but they didn’t have the level of bite I was looking for.
      It might have just been the wrong variant, but I never went back to them after that.

    • @fullwerkes
      @fullwerkes 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ItsTrackTime definitely reconsider them Barry. I believe you are on steels rotars like I am with my 992 GT3. The pads to consider are PAGID RSL-29 Track Racing Brake Pads E4925. I would also recommend Endless 650 brake fluid which is what Manthey use exclusively for everything.
      I invested a lot into a sim rig just to work on various driving techniques such as trail braking. In real world on the Nurburging ring (and other tracks of course) it can make a big difference to your lap times. Just the transition from brake pedal to accelerator is costing you time. It's a fun thing to work on and you're a great driver so I think you'd really pick up time.
      Another thing I picked up (check out the suspension secrets TH-cam page). They cover extensively tyre wear and heat on a GT4. One major learning they had was the rear exhaust being really close to the inside tyre wall on each side. I'm not sure if there is a solution to that but it can't be great.

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for the pad recommendation!
      Yes, I’m running steel GiroDisc rotors and using SRF fluid.
      I also have a sim, and I completely agree-it’s an amazing tool for learning. I would never have survived the Nürburgring without it!
      I switched from over-axle pipes to through-axle pipes, which has helped reduce heat exposure. I had significant issues with the aftermarket over-axle pipes and heat, which I documented in my other videos. If the through-axle pipes still show heat-related problems, I’ll likely move to a heat shield, similar to the factory solution.

    Love you videos! 3 questions if you don't mind: 1. Do you edit them yourself? 2. Which software do you use? 3. Insta360 mount?

    Great driving as usual, the new mods really paid off! Have you ever run against anyone good in a C8 Z06 there?

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks!
      The C8 Z06 is definitely one of the cars I’ve been eager to run with, but so far, I’ve only seen them in the lower run groups.
      From the laps posted on TH-cam, it doesn’t seem to be any faster than a GT4 RS at COTA, which is surprising given the significant horsepower difference.

    • @markw9512
      @markw9512 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ probably just hasn’t found the right driver yet, other tracks it’s done better. Remember, you’ve got about 400 pounds lower weight and Porsches’ crank power is typically closer to their wheel when measured on Dynos (it’s a German thing, my CL63 with 563 rated horsepower would keep up with a buddy’s 707 hp Hellcat-and the CL weighed hundreds of pounds more 😄-actually a good thing, keeps the insurance lower), so horsepower to weight is very very similar.
      But with all the aero and stuff you’ve got now, that’s a whole ‘nuther ballgame, that thing is tight! 👍👍 Would be fun to watch, that’s for sure.
      Anyway, enjoy your videos, required watching for anyone who wants to learn that circuit! 👍

    • @ItsTrackTime
      @ItsTrackTime  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      The best lap I've seen was David Donohue driving one at COTA and achieving a 2:19.
      He's definitely a great driver but I don't know how the car was setup or tires.
      His back straight top speed was only 151mph which is not very impressive for a 670hp car.
      I'm sure we'll run into one on track soon... stay tuned!

    • @markw9512
      @markw9512 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ Interesting, seems like he was losing some exit speed on the previous corner… I know at VIR, it had front straight speeds higher than all of the GT3/RS/MR variants by a few mph, and is about the same difference from 100-170, so it tracks…. Probably some more in it there to be had at COTA.
      It definitely could be faster, though, but the bean counters at GM forced them to use a tranny with one set of gearing for all variants, which is only optimal for the ZR1… the engineers wanted bespoke for each variant, but bean counters will be bean counters will be bean counters… It would definitely be a few seconds+ faster still 100-170 if the engineers had had their way. But as you’ve repeatedly shown, driver skill definitely trumps horsepower! 😁👍
      Have fun out there, always looking forward to more videos! You play that track like a violin!

    When I get my gt4rs, the first thing I'm going to do is modify the hell out of it because these cars are cheap, and they are obviously not engineered well enough for my skill level.
