As a drummer, it’s odd, if I’m not playing proper sheets, I just kinda feel what my hands and feet should be doing?? It’s hard to explain, it’s just the feel once you get into it and meet what you are hearing/should be playing.
I've never felt that my limbs were ever really moving independently when playing the drums, though. More like cogs in a machine, like a crankshaft with three camshafts. It all synchronizes in some grand scheme, it's just a matter of finding out how to make things land in the right order.
They really should do a tribute show on the anniversary of the release of Nevermind... straight thru the whole album. Any money made should be donated to an idea or non-profit Kurt would have supported. It’s also paying homage to Dave’s contribution to Nirvana, and his struggle after Kurt’s death. A show like that would be a worldwide event.
I think everyone is giving him way more hate then he deserves. Yh it was like ehhh :/ oof don’t think I should of said that moment. Look he was itching to play it he was like a kid and we all know that he meant it as oh my god the fans would go wild, plus he wasn’t thinking about it maliciously.
for some reason I love, and It makes me laugh that Dave cant play "Come As You Are". the first riff that many people in my generation ever learned on guitar
I saw Foo Fighters play in downtown Charlotte North Carolina in the early 2000's and they played a full set in the pouring rain and didn't miss a beat. It was an amazing experience!
The way they're all just having fun and a good time makes my heart warm. Taylor is being deeply missed, but his legacy will live forever in videos like these.

The drummer was having some real fun... he was actually playing. But then dude... but then... Dave played a tune that sounded as if he were playing the piano and it was stellar. I wanted him to continue but he got side tracked.
I saw this clip three times already and I find one thing very interesting. They are playing, joking and all (they seem to be a funny group of people, that likes to enjoy their time and not only “doing their job”) and things doesn’t get depressive, even sad, but when they play Nirvana there’s kind of a silence in the air, too. Dave seems to purposely do not play it too much. I mean, they got kind of silent and Dave specially seems to be thoughtful. I see the same thing when they interview Krist about their time with Nirvana. They probably feel very happy they have a great history in music, but very sad, at the same time, that Kurt isn’t here anymore. I wonder if it probably passes inside of their minds at every mention. I think they think a lot about it.
They saw shit the likes which none of us could probably comprehend, handle, or appreciate, for better or worse. And then to have people who weren’t there speculate/twist those stories, just makes it even weirder…
I understand the respect thing, but they really should play the odd Nirvana track, at least once in a blue moon. There can also be respect in that. It would be good to hear some Nirvana with two guitars and some better production/mixing.
I mean they've played marigold and mollys lips live, not iconic but give the guys a break, Dave said he can barely listen to Nirvana because it's too sad, Foo Fighters is a way to make his own identity of not being that Nirvana drummer
Dave Grohl is a perfect ambassador for the music industry. Representing it’s true meaning and purpose in this day and age. My sister thinks you are “dad rock”. If that’s the case, I’ve never been more willing to be a dad. As Tom Petty once said you have “ the light”.

Daniël Snieder Gary Clark jr is the man!
you have to feel the music not just listen to it
Dave’s whole attitude changes when he played nirvana😔R.I.P
The way he looks down after the second time Taylor plays the Smells intro fill on the drums....whoa...it hit me right in the guts. Him, too.
Love those Grohl quotes in the description about not using Nirvana songs.
When Taylor said “ heads will explode” you could see how Dave just looked down and tried to cover up the fact he said that.
3:11 I think Dave was kinda hurt when he heard heads will explode after that teen spirit intro. Among his foo bandmates only Pat would understand.
Love the jam sessions here while at the Austin City Limits Theater!!
03:06 sounds amazing when he played that bit on the drums
for some reason I love, and It makes me laugh that Dave cant play "Come As You Are". the first riff that many people in my generation ever learned on guitar
George Crews lol. It’s actually a little bit of a bitch to play and sing at the same time.
Playlists, is it possible to learn this power?
Thanks, I’m gonna have to try this 😆
Considering he doesnt know how to read music and can only learn from listening, it may be harder than you think for him to learn it
Cuz the first riffs that Dave's (my) generation learned were the ones he played... Bowie, Priest, Zep...
They should do at least Marigold, considering Dave sang it on album
Jan Adamčík They actually do it. I saw them many years ago, and they played it.
J A Skin and Bones
Jay P whaaaaa?!?
They played it on their live record
They've done it
Taylor Hawkins is awesome on drums
I am surprised Dave played Nirvana he said it makes him sad when he hears it
But he didn't actually "play" anything
Just watching Taylor drum and how excited he gets just to jam makes you appreciate him that much more now that he's gone RIP legend :(
I saw Foo Fighters play in downtown Charlotte North Carolina in the early 2000's and they played a full set in the pouring rain and didn't miss a beat. It was an amazing experience!
Dimension7 You've commented this on more than one video haven't you?
@@kilo393Wtf r u talking about lol. Lay off the crack bro.. get professional help. Seriously.
Deja vu maybe.Im not on crack kid.
I like how taylor s just waiting for any song
No it would be really awkward if they covered Hole.
lmao yeah courtney thinks that dave named his daughter after a hole song
The way they're all just having fun and a good time makes my heart warm.
Taylor is being deeply missed, but his legacy will live forever in videos like these.
If they played teen spirit live the video of that would go hella viral
no
lol
avaris1280 NEVER
Kurt would hate that
He would not hate his friends having fun playing you douche
Bloody Sunday has an awesome drum track. T gave it some real power. love all these guys!
The sound the comes out of that drum kit! So good!!
This is soo awesome of them just joking around and having a great time jamming.
Great cover! Keep up the good work! :D
Vigi Fucking spam
that's suspicious
Man i love that studio 😌. I know the title was kinda clickbait... but the whole video was pro, and i can't stop admiring Taylor. Damn man, i still can't believe it, why you had to go... i'm speechless when i think of it. So many years have pass since the first time i watched this video, and a lot has changed. But my love for the Foos will always withstand the test of time ✊
Listening to these guys just play around is great.
I love how the Foo Fighters let the Nirvana drummer sit in with them and play some guitar
Foo Fighters is awesome🙌🏻👍🏻 David Grohl is amazing♥️ he keeps Kurts spirit alive♥️ love you David♥️ keep up the great work of music♥️👍🏻🙌🏻🎶🎶
"Sunday bloody Sunday beat". That was dope! I love these guys. Man I'm still hurt over Taylor. Rest in beats. And it's Easter sunday...bloody Sunday. Much love yall. Dave ....I we love you. I care about Dave's well being. I can't imagine how he feels
2:24 Haha...I want them to actually play that :-)
Videos like this of bands just laughing and having fun are always the best behind the scenes videos.
Man Taylor is really an underestimated drummer!
do you know what dave have a big fucking massive heart an open your show with it people loved what you were there are still fans out there that died by nirvana be a gent an show your respect to those guys they will love you forever man !!!!
Rest in Peace Taylor!
At one part it looked like you could see memories coming back to dave
4:04 that was heartbreaking
Towards the end of the video watching Taylor go hard on those 🥁 ....mannnn that touched my soul!
Why aren't our songs that easy??!!
Sunday Bloody Sunday that is such a cool beat, this drummer is so talented!
I loved when pat played Bohemian rhapsody intro
Wooow,im 64 live long hearing and feelin Rock Musik, but this group of Instrumental artists making me only WOOOOWH, guys, please keep on rockin, till i go "home2for ever, my deepest respekt, all playing at hock, shooting like sling shooters! Alex German
"Wow Chris! What's that?!"
"It's a little something I've been working on."
"Coool!"
hahahaha!
These guys get along so well and have fun together... I envy them.
Hawkins is a damn good drummer...
The emotions that come out of those Nirvana riffs...
2:55 - He talked about Sao Paulo when NIRVANA did the "worst show ever made". Good times for Rock n Roll.
Maldito João Gordo xDDDDD
good times!
gaaby_x kkkkkk, pelo menos ficamos marcados. O show do Nirvana em SP vai ser lembrado pra sempre como o pior show deles.
Siiim xD
OSEM COVERS no, they spent hours playing and Dave started to play guitar and Kurt on drums. It was a crazy jam session in the middle of the show. People (occasional fans) didn’t get it at the time. I enjoyed to see them in a relaxed and careless mood anyway.
I could listen to these guys jamming all day.
One Nirvana cover album from Foo-Fighters and I swear I will never download foo-fighters from pirate bay :D
Probably buy it twice
I'm a big Nirvana fan. I'm so happy when Dave shows his memories. Huge or small whatever... I could remember Nirvana days by those moments.
FF should have a Nirvana jam session on an album but have it like a secret song at the end of the album (just like what Endless Nameless is on Nevermind. C'mon Dave make it happen!! 👍
Aron Kelley won't happen hey would have to pay Courtney love money .... she owns the nirvana catalog
Frances owns it
regardless of who owns it, he probably doesn't want to revisit that for his own reasons. and shame on people like you for pestering them for things like that.
AngloRebel Shame on me? Lol! 🖕😆🖕GTFO with that BS!! I'm just a fan of the music. Dave is just screwing around playing different stuff and looks happy doing it. He doesn't look so "pestered" 😆
yeah, shame on you for being a boring predictable fanboy who wants to live in the past. maybe Foo Fighters don't. in fact, it's clear they don't. so people like you crying "do nirvana" are just absolutely pathetic and insulting to them since they worked as hard as they can to carve their own path. so, stfu
Just in case you wonder, the song starting at minute 10 is Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer), from Roky Erickson.
I wondered - thanks!
Was looking for this comment, thank you!
Everyone else plays random songs: Laughter
Dave plays Teen Spirit: HHOOOOOOLLYYYYY SHIIIIIITT!!!
Good to see Butch Vig still in the studio making magic with Dave and the boys. Taylor and Pat killing it as always
I understand the respect thing, but they really should play the odd Nirvana track, at least once in a blue moon. There can also be respect in that. It would be good to hear some Nirvana with two guitars and some better production/mixing.
nedgey yup, Pearl Jam throws in the occasional Mother Love Bone track live
It would be nice, but Dave was clearly uncomfortable doing it.
I mean they've played marigold and mollys lips live, not iconic but give the guys a break, Dave said he can barely listen to Nirvana because it's too sad, Foo Fighters is a way to make his own identity of not being that Nirvana drummer
I've never seen Butch Vig working his magic. This video is great!
"Why aren't our songs that easy?" Jesus, my heart melted. :D
This was a great documentary. Worth to own. Also, they have to had played a couple Nirvana songs with all the sets they’ve done over the years.
RIP Taylor
Dave Grohl is a perfect ambassador for the music industry. Representing it’s true meaning and purpose in this day and age. My sister thinks you are “dad rock”. If that’s the case, I’ve never been more willing to be a dad. As Tom Petty once said you have “ the light”.
