  • Just weeks after President Biden pardoned marijuana-related sentences, Maryland voters will either legalize recreational marijuana or not with ballot question 4 on November 8th. In this special episode of "In The Courts" with Katie Barlow, she breaks down the ballot question and current discussion in the state on both sides; as well as where laws stand in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and at the federal level.
Former Baltimore Ravens player Eugene Monroe is an advocate for marijuana legalization and chairs the Yes on 4 campaign, which seeks to legalize marijuana in the state of Maryland. He turned to marijuana medically when dealing with pain and inflammation due to sports-related injuries and also supports professional leagues rethinking their regulations and adding research for sports-related injuries. He also noted that 3 out of 10 counties in Maryland have high arrest rates.
Will Jones is a firefighter in Washington D.C, and works with Smart Approaches to Marijuana. SAM is not against decriminalization and moving forward with rethinking criminal justice - but is against the growth of a marijuana industry and its impacts.

Legalize cannabis federally nationwide now. Within each and every state, the law of the land. Treat relatively benign cannabis exactly like we currently treat far more dangerous and deadly alcohol. Perfectly legal in all states. This way, irrational prohibitionist politicians will no longer be able to intentionally obstruct, stall, and delay cannabis legalization against the will of the vast majority of Americans.

This was a very good story! I like how certain concerns were brought up here that are rarely brought up, however I would recommend asking more questions in the next video about those previously convicted for weed crimes e.g. are dispensaries hiring these people or pushing them out of the way in the market, are the same people who are concerned about teen marijuana usage also worried about teen drinking/popping opiates, will people negatively affected by unjust marijuana laws also receive some assistance getting their lives back from the marijuana tax sales or will they be forgotten about?

Why not ask the public🤔 we are the consumers we are the ones that's going to buy it to use it for health and aches and pain👍 I'm ready to try about anything to stop this pain in my foot and legs and knees the stinging and burning and stabbing pain sometime I can't even sleep at night have to stay up all night rubbing it and soaking my feet, pain pills don't help it🤔👎 I don't want a high dose anyway cuz I'm allergic to everything I can't even put nothing in my mouth without me breaking out👎 I want to know if it's legal in Texas 😃 but I know that stuff is high they sell the gummies them things like 60s bucks for a few gummies👎 I think it's really not right to be locking people up for 6 months is too long to be locked up you lose your house your car and everything else you got😐

Why would anyone fine a person for smelling like weed? Just because you don’t like the smell? There’s no way to objectively prove in court that someone smells like weed… that would be the dumbest law ever because people would be getting robbed simply based on one’s opinion instead of actually committing a crime…

@@MichaelFrankowiak brother, taking their clothes to a lab would be too much of a hassle and waste tax payers money… That would only raise more questions like which piece of clothing would you take: everything they’re wearing or just one item? Does this violate the 4th Amendment? What would they wear after they’re clothes are seized? What if they’re wearing a rented tux? What if you only smelled marijuana on them because a stranger blew smoke on them? All of this just because you don’t like something?? It’s very much overkill and for no good reason that would actually benefit society.
I don’t like bad breath or pungent body odors but I don’t think people should be punished for it, that’s just ridiculous.
