@@NP-zs5ui She’s extremely lucky. You can watch thousands of unlucky People (especially men from specific backgrounds) who get killed by police for doing the same thing she did or even less.
This ridiculous story was brought to you by,... "Are the handcuffs too tight, Ma'am?" When you place handcuffs on someone, they are SUPPOSED to be uncomfortably tight, and locked. Your life DEPENDS on it!
Mike is spot on here. Thanks, Jon, for another good analysis. Poor cuffing aside, I am floored by the fact that any police vehicle couldn't keep an un-restrained individual away from a deadly weapon ...
To be psychotic, in broad terms, means one is detached from observable reality and usually has markedly disorganized thought patterns. This _does not_ mean they are incapable of pattern recognition, problem solving, or many other basal human mental processes, but it especially does not effect an individual's ability to retrieve and utilize "muscle memory." If she was even remotely familiar with firearms, the loading of that gun would have been as easy as putting on and tying shoes, regardless of if she was having a psychotic episode or not The unfortunate reality is that to her, in that illogical, psychotic headspace, everything and everything was out to get her and to harm her. To her, she likely had a deep and genuine conviction that she was in mortal danger as a result of her psychosis warping her perception of reality. She was in a "fight or die" state, or at least could not grasp the gravity of the situation in any way that an ordinary, neurotypical individual could.
Wow that was unexpected, I’m really surprised that patrol car didn’t look like Swiss cheese after the shots ended! Absolutely incredible on all levels!
I remember seeing this video shortly after it was released a while back. Thank you John and Mike for going into detail about how to improve this for future situations. The thing I think is most notable is how easy it was for her to access the front of the car. The other thing that wasn’t mentioned is how easy it is to load a magazine into an Armalite pattern gun (rifle or pistol) and use it. I’m wondering if it would be feasible to keep the magazine handy but slightly separate from the gun. All it would take for the officers is a small amount of training to pop the mag in when it’s needed.
A gun without the magazine is useless, no matter how close the magazine is. No law enforcement officer should EVER be walking around without a round in the chamber of their duty weapon and every other weapon in their vehicle ready to charge and get into the fight. Thousands of officers every day arrest people and safely carry a rifle in their vehicle. This is a training issue with this agency, not an issue with the rifle.
Why allow them to have magazines? The courts think magazines are not protected arms or required for their operation, I mean Barney Fife was a deputy and only carried 1 bullet in his pocket... Sure it was a fictional character in a TV show, but still there is no right for the government to be armed. Also imagine if she only had 10 rounds, the exact same outcome would have happened but at least people could feel good about themselves.

I don't get surprised a lot on this channel but this one is WILD. OMG that officer had no idea what happened. Can you imagine just being shot out in the middle of no where.
No not really, because she didn't aim I am thankful for that because otherwise the civilian and the officer would have been ended but right up until it was time to actually shoot it she was looking pretty smooth even had extra time to learn how the light works
Skills getting out of the cuffs? I mean, she didn't even look where she was shooting. She just pointed out side side rear window and put her head down while pulling the trigger.
Oh boy, I've been waiting for this video. Absolutely drove me crazy to watch that cop standing there with a piece of paper in his hand after that first shot broke. "hUh, i wOnDeR wHaT tHaT wAs.". It's a killing device, get your ass down! Also, the speed and dexterity with which she loaded and operated the weapon indicated to me that she knew at least a little bit about it, she could have so easily executed all of them, thank God she just wanted to spit lead.
We missed the best part. The fact that swat got her out of the car and unarmed without turning the cruiser into Swiss cheese is extremely impressive. Far too often, we see a tragic outcome they took extreme measures to preserve life and that is to be applauded. A+ GUYS
Its the difference between a highly trained team vs a poorly quickly trained regular police officer. Theres is just not enough time and resources to get them cops out on the street fast enough.
They haven't released footage yet, but this happened earlier this week at the county jail that is half a mile down the road from my house. A lady got her self out of cuffs and when the officer pulling into the jail secured his gun in the console safe in his cruiser and gor out to let her out (apparently that is standard procedure there) she got her hands out and got his gun out of the safe and tried to take him hostage. Officer got out and involved a few jail deputies that were able to keep her in a standoff until swat got there. 2 and half hours to get her back in custody though.
You guys should definitely break down mental situations more cause alot of people really don't understand. I believe in gun safety I will not own a gun I wanted to but after my brother being unstable familiar with guns using one on himself. I will not own one but the safety you guys talk about and how to handle certain gunshot wounds is very educational
I want everyone to notice that the patrol rifle had a stabilizing brace and is now a short barreled rifle. Would be a shame if the AFT started throwing felonies at this department for having stabilizing braces on their patrol rifles 🤦♂️🤣
We used to award “The Barney Bullet” which was a dummy round to be worn in the left front shirt pocket (just like deputy Fife) untill someone else “earned it”. Sort of a dunce hat I suppose; however, looking back on in this moment, it may have played a positive peer pressure role in our training.

My only question is how did they not know that shot came from less than ten yards away, and why did they not draw their guns? The car with windows up definitely suppressed the shot but damn
The first shot was hard to understand where it came from because the compression inside the vehicle altered the sound that's why it sounded almost like a pellet rifle.

@@NP-zs5ui She’s extremely lucky. You can watch thousands of unlucky People (especially men from specific backgrounds) who get killed by police for doing the same thing she did or even less.
This ridiculous story was brought to you by,... "Are the handcuffs too tight, Ma'am?"
When you place handcuffs on someone, they are SUPPOSED to be uncomfortably tight, and locked.
Your life DEPENDS on it!
She's alive...Incredible.
Mike is spot on here. Thanks, Jon, for another good analysis. Poor cuffing aside, I am floored by the fact that any police vehicle couldn't keep an un-restrained individual away from a deadly weapon ...
Wow, just wow.
Mike: *smiles* "I'll be back standing way to close to Jon . . . "
Jon: *stoneface*
So awkward...
@@ActiveSelfProtection There’s nothing wrong with that.
@@ActiveSelfProtection lol
😂😂
Whoever arrested her should be fired on the spot for gross negligence.
She seen the destination question, hit the drop down menu and chose PRISON as an option over JAIL 😂
I got shook and ducked down too when the cop said "get over here" 😅
She wasn't too psychotic. She was coherent enough to get the weapon and load it. wow!
Psychotic does not mean totally demented ...
You must be a cop with this level of misunderstanding mental illness and psychosis.
To be psychotic, in broad terms, means one is detached from observable reality and usually has markedly disorganized thought patterns. This _does not_ mean they are incapable of pattern recognition, problem solving, or many other basal human mental processes, but it especially does not effect an individual's ability to retrieve and utilize "muscle memory."
If she was even remotely familiar with firearms, the loading of that gun would have been as easy as putting on and tying shoes, regardless of if she was having a psychotic episode or not
The unfortunate reality is that to her, in that illogical, psychotic headspace, everything and everything was out to get her and to harm her. To her, she likely had a deep and genuine conviction that she was in mortal danger as a result of her psychosis warping her perception of reality. She was in a "fight or die" state, or at least could not grasp the gravity of the situation in any way that an ordinary, neurotypical individual could.

Great channel. love the content
Get well soon Mike
Wow! My jaw literally dropped! Thank the Lord everyone was okay. Yikes 😱
Looking good Mike
Wow that was unexpected, I’m really surprised that patrol car didn’t look like Swiss cheese after the shots ended! Absolutely incredible on all levels!
good to see you doing better Mike.
That was insane! So glad that nobody was seriously injured or worse.
Ayy welcome back, Mike! Good to see you again. Hope you're doing better!
Unimaginable. Pure incompetence.
Jesus, she's definitely off her rocker. I'm glad no one got hurt seriously.
She was composed enough to load and fire an AR-15.
Well you telling me a gunshot wound is nothing seriously?
@orthobro4806 according to what they said it wasn't but getting any sort of gunshot wound can't be fun in any form
But this happens in Ukraine everyday and they are praised for it.
@@orthobro4806 they didnt get directly shot... it was minor injuries from a ricochet which they dont even need to go to the hospital to treat, just a bandaid would work...
Thank goodness that cop and guy are alright. You never know what can happen either way even with precautions and well you look good mike on your recovery as well
I don't get surprised a lot on this channel but this one is WILD. OMG that officer had no idea what happened. Can you imagine just being shot out in the middle of no where.
Yeah. I know this is crazy
Is no one else impressed with her skills?
No not really, because she didn't aim I am thankful for that because otherwise the civilian and the officer would have been ended
but right up until it was time to actually shoot it she was looking pretty smooth even had extra time to learn how the light works
The officer’s negligence could’ve cost few ppl’s life !!
In some states if a criminal steal your gun and use it to commit a murder or any crime you will possibly get jail time
@@CoreyShelton57 Yes !!
Now I can see why most cops put on those handcuffs so tightly
When the dude was like "Owww". 🤣💀
We missed the best part. The fact that swat got her out of the car and unarmed without turning the cruiser into Swiss cheese is extremely impressive. Far too often, we see a tragic outcome they took extreme measures to preserve life and that is to be applauded. A+ GUYS
Ummmm......something like that🤔🙄
Some people deserve to become Swiss Cheese....
Its the difference between a highly trained team vs a poorly quickly trained regular police officer. Theres is just not enough time and resources to get them cops out on the street fast enough.
I'm guessing she was out of ammo at that point
"standing way too close to John" hahaha wow are you ever lost. Good luck with your crippling fear of the sniffles Mike.
My wife and I had COVID about a month ago. Still have a slight cough a little shortness of breath. Get well soon Mike.
My condolences brother, only two times i felt that worryingly sick were Covid-19 and N1H1.Stuff is hell. Feel better soon.
Attempted murder of two persons 50 years in prison
Did she also get charged with possession of an SBR without a tax stamp?
*through the hail of gunfire* "Ma'am, I'm with the ATF. Do. You. Have. A. Tax. Stamp. For that rifle?! This is a serious matter!"
Welcome back, Mike!
Good story. Can I ask what county and state?

You guys should definitely break down mental situations more cause alot of people really don't understand. I believe in gun safety I will not own a gun I wanted to but after my brother being unstable familiar with guns using one on himself. I will not own one but the safety you guys talk about and how to handle certain gunshot wounds is very educational
I want everyone to notice that the patrol rifle had a stabilizing brace and is now a short barreled rifle. Would be a shame if the AFT started throwing felonies at this department for having stabilizing braces on their patrol rifles 🤦♂️🤣
Do you not understand the difference between a rifle and a handgun? Smh
MIKE GET BETTER BROTHER GOD BLESS YOU 🙏🙏 GREAT JOB JOHN🙏🙏
His dept. should definitely give this guy their Barney Fife Award.
We used to award “The Barney Bullet” which was a dummy round to be worn in the left front shirt pocket (just like deputy Fife) untill someone else “earned it”. Sort of a dunce hat I suppose; however, looking back on in this moment, it may have played a positive peer pressure role in our training.
Aft is going to love that brace
The fact that she was able to get out of cuffs, grab what should be a secured weapon, fire it (hitting people) and have the cops just shuffle paperwork around during everything is incredibly bizarre and downright unforgivable.
she knew how to load & prime that thing. lmao
Sarah Conner is that you? They thought she was crazy too.
She loaded and fired that gun pretty damned efficiently so I guess she's not so insane after all.
What do you think insane means?
@@tshiruh5
The definition of insanity is what, a lack of motor skills? Crazy people are perfectly capable of driving cars, using computers, operating firearms, etc… a lot of crazy people have committed a lot of shootings. I don’t get what you’re saying.
Insane: in a state of mind which prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.
@@shouldhavenotshouldof2031 That's why we need to stop using insanity as an excuse for commiting crime.

You cannot make this stuff up. If someone told you this story you’d think it was a blatant lie.
"Radical acceptance of reality." Great turn of words.
Mental problems are not an excuse and never should be in my opinion. When it comes to crimes of violence. If you get off your meds that’s a decision you made.
Especially with the skill with which she handled this weapon.
You're right insomuch as she was still a deadly threat. The underlying causes don't change that.
“A Radical acceptance of reality”. well stated
I wish we could hear from the lady just wth she thought she was doing and how she feels about it now.
Mike: “Should be next to impossible to get it out”
Lockpickinglawyer: “and let’s do it again so you can see it’s not a fluke…and got it.”

WTF?!? How TF did the cops or SWAT NOT Swiss cheese that car and lay waste to her like really what the actual F????
Because it was their car and not another citizens
This video blows my mind.
They should hire her as a range master. 😅
Cop 1 : Did she get out of her cuffs?
Cop2: no!
Lol
I'm glad that the folded flag was safe.
Very weird reactions from the officers… They didn’t seem to recognize that shots were being fired right at them. The one officer was more worried about holding onto his paperwork than drawing his firearm.
My only question is how did they not know that shot came from less than ten yards away, and why did they not draw their guns? The car with windows up definitely suppressed the shot but damn
The first shot was hard to understand where it came from because the compression inside the vehicle altered the sound that's why it sounded almost like a pellet rifle.
when the office asked if she got out her cuffs and the 2nd says yes outloud, but you can year the yes in his heart lol
I've been in the back of an LAPD patrol SUV (thankfully not under arrest) and it was armored to the point of what I would otherwise consider crazy, but I guess this explains it.
Also it's the most uncomfortable and painful seat I've ever sat on. My ass ached for a day or so after, and we didn't go that far.
