If I want cheaper, but still good, I just head for Decathlon.

I've got 15€ very simple leggings from decathlon I've had for years and they are still my favourite, even compared to expensive ones from Asics or Adidas... also I've tried a lot of running belts and still come back to the basic one I bought at Decathlon.

Me too. The few bits of kit I've bought from Decathlon have been good quality and great value. I'm lucky to have a Decathlon shop not far away so I'm not relying on online shopping. I'd also say that all the Crane stuff I've had from Aldi has been excellent. I wouldn't buy a cheap 'no name' running watch and I stick to the big names for shoes (although I usually buy last year's versions in discount sales) but you definitely don't have to spend big bucks to get quality shorts, shirts, socks etc.

To solve the sloshing, turn the bladder upside down (so where the tube connects is up) and drink from the bite valve until water is coming out. Essentially suck all the air out, then as you drink it makes a vacuum and won't slosh.

The HR strap won't be transmitting when you're not wearing it?!? The watch was so bad that it wouldn't have made a difference. The headphones looked interesting. I've been using cheaper Bluetooth headphones for a long time and they're fine, I might look at bone-conduction ones next!

I bought a Garmin Forerunner 235 in Sept 2018 and within 6 months the battery would discharge even when the watch was switched off. Amazon replaced it with no problems and I still use the same watch today. I don't buy many running extras beyond trainers/shorts/t-shirts but a good GPS watch is incredibly useful.

I had my own sloshing run experience, but I was absolutely sure that I had done (or not done) something wrong because it was my first ever run with a hydration pack. After 5 km of sloshing run I stopped and tried to eliminate the air bubble in the bladder, and that seemed to solve the problem - no more slushing for the rest of the run!

  • @dawnriddler

The key with these cheaper alternatives is to look at the comments and reviews, if a shop has a high rating and a lot of comments from customers and pictures of the product, you know you'll get what you pay for. The only running related thing I bought was a running belt, which looked exactly the same as on the website, other than that I've bought many different items (from ali though, not wish) in a 5 year time period, and was always content with the order. Plus if you don't receive it for some reason, you always get a refund.

  • @SpecialFX99

I think we all knew what the outcome of this video would be…I see Wish and I think sweatshop…can’t bring myself to even go on their website. I know most of the big brands also are sweatshops, but at least the items work and you won’t end up just throwing them out. Second hand gear is doable for a lot of gear, I think.

I’ve learned with running tech you should always go with a trusted brand, and even then they sometimes fail to live up to expectations. I remember my first multi sport watch was a Magellan Switch and while it was functional I quickly realized I should have saved and bought the Garmin 910XT.

I am using a Huawei Band 2pro and I love it. The selling point for me is the battery life that lasts for 5-7 days when used as health monitor, and for 4h+ as GPS. At less that £30 it's cheap but I don't need colour screen or fancy functions, I need something forgetfulness proof - my Garmin used to be dead most of the time

There’s an expensive clothing store in my area that has a great sale on new year’s. A lot of their clothes are marked down 80%. A friend convicted me to buy a couple pieces of workout clothing on sale, I wasn’t running at the time. Now that I’m running I’ve worn them a few times and realize just how quality they are. You can feel the fabric is thicker, stronger and more breathable, on top of fitting nicely. They have nice little extras like well placed and sized zipped pockets. I’m all about savings, but it is nice to have a few things that are better quality, you really appreciate the little extra when you’re used to bare bones.

    • @runningchannel

So true. There is a bit of a balance to find. When you're training a lot, you do go through a lot of laundry so making sure you have plenty of kit is important but we also know the best kit can be expensive. Sounds like you've got a good balance but we need to know where you were getting 80% off! 😜😜

I got wireless bluetooth headphones Xiaomi Haylou GT1 plus, not from wish, since Xiaomi became a pretty big brand, at least in europe, their stuff is available everywhere...anyways, they cost me 15 euros and I just absolutely love them...the sound is great, they get loud enough, they stay in place unless I get super sweaty...the built quality is not awesome (not a problem for me) and they have a touch pad, which is not ideal for running :)
I also have a 13 euro jacket from decathlon, been using it for 4 years...its not waterproof, but still windproof and works great for me :)

  • @twold4this
    @twold4this 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Just to show I take note of your videos.
I purchased the headphones from Wish. I'm not sure if they are 'truly' bone conducting. However I'm pleasantly surprised! They work - that is...
They are extremely light: a couple of ounces. Very comfortable and they stay where they are put.
    Charged without problem.
Bluetooth - They connect to my phone in a couple of seconds.
Battery lasts more than a couple of hours.
I didn't expect Bose quality and I don't particularly need high quality music, others may be irritated by the quality and lack of volume.
Again... It works. I have them on now, in Costa, as I watch + listen to Anna on the video talking about the Wish products.
I would certainly wear these if I wanted to hear what's happening around me and listen to some 1970s music on a shortish run.
May I be bold enough to suggest these for runners - particularly females - who want something cheap and cheerful to wear when they are running alone but want to be aware of traffic or other potential hazards around them whilst keeping their 'good' headphones for raceday.
Less than a tenner? Delboy Trotter would be proud of Wish.
    I recommend them.

      CORRECTION
By using such phrases as "FOR THE PRICE OF A COFFEE IT IS POSSIBLE TO PURCHASE THESE GREAT VALUE AFTERSHOKZ KILLERZ! " and "THESE HEADPHONES TOTALLY PROVE THAT BRANDS ARE USUALLY OVERPRICED RIPOFFS" and "ANYONE WHO DOESN'T BUY THESE HEADPHONES AND INSIST ON PURCHASING SIMILAR PRODUCTS FOR 10x THE PRICE MUST BE CALLED OUT AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY!" I may have inadvertently given the impression that I somehow recommend this product. This cannot be further from the truth.
In fact by purchasing these shoddily produced bone conducting headphones that will fail in under a fortnight you have thrown good money down the drain.
My headlines were meant to read "ONLY A FOOL WOULD BUY THESE HEADPHONES OR ANY PRODUCT FROM WISH" and "WHAT A COMPLETE RIPOFF! ONLY BUY WELL MADE BRANDED PRODUCTS, BECAUSE YOU'LL SAVE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN!"
I'm sorry for any misunderstandings in this matter.
      😁

I would completely agree with all of this although I would say that I'm using an unbranded HRM, cadence & speed sensor (for use on Zwift) from a seller on ebay, they were all crazy cheap and have all been working perfectly for over 2 years. The problem is that its all a massive risk.

Good video and thoughts. Most of the items looked dire but the headphones are the ones I have used for ages and work great for me. HR I used is coospo which are a lot lower than the Garmin HR run that I have used and to be honest the Garmin failed me a few times so back to Coospo. Watch wise I use a Corps pace 2 now but Amazfit Stratos 2 was my go to for a few years and matched my Garmin 735xt in every way apart from price which it was half the price. Build far better than Garmin too. Thought my 735xt was out of a lucky bag. Cheap cheap are not worth a look but there are items that can be had.

Walmart Avia running shorts (the biker short style) I am 5’10” so I have problems with waists and lengths. These are fantastic…high waisted (so no tugging up) Longer length (keep those thighs from chaffing and …. 4 POCKETS!! One on each side big enough for your cellphone or a small water bottle. A small zipper pocket on the right pocket and a small “key size” pocket in the waistband. And less than $20 (us) The texture is buttery smooth. No rough seams. I’ve had my 2 pairs for almost 2 years and no visible wear on them.

I bought a cheap hydration back pack, minimise the sloshing by turning bladder upside down and sucking air out before putting bladder in backpack, those mouthpieces are a ruddy nightmare though, in the end I just use the mouthpiece as a bung, when i need a sup, I just pull the whole mouthpiece off and drink straight from the pipe! Bladder tasted disgusting for ages mind!!

I've never ordered anything off of wish before, but a geezer I used to work with bought a few things were there and seemed super impressed with them. But it all looked like a load of junk to me.

The sloshing : did you get the air out of the bag beforehand ? Otherwise all will slosh.

unfair to blame the supplier when you didn't check sizes when ordering.

You might be right, but did you see the shoes didn’t look at all like what she ordered. Not the color, or style….. doesn’t seem like the supplier is on the ball.

Think i’d be worried about the possible toxic ⚠️ chemicals leaching out of that bladder. Definitely not a place i would trust to buy from and better more trusting ways to save on money.

Maybe do a video of quality running gear that is more affordable, for new runners who can’t invest a lot when starting out.

    • @almorrison2040

Haglofs. They are a quality outdoor brand, but unfortunately Anna got so hung up on the pockets she didn't really mention much else. I pretty much only put gloves in pockets so it wouldn't bother me. Haglofs are NOT a cheap brand, so I wonder if this was genuine or a knock-off?

    • @almorrison2040

Cheapest jacket on the Haglofs site has a zipped pocket but costs 149 Euro!!!!! Anna bought a copy-coat!!!

I love my top of the line gear... but I can't justify the waste of money and resources, when I can buy much of it second hand for a fraction of the price. What I can't get gently used, I get on clearance. That does mean I can't buy what I want the minute I want it, but boo hoo, first world problems. Lol

  • @heartrunnergirl3138
    @heartrunnergirl3138 3 ปีที่แล้ว

So what about the actual brands if you are encouraging people to buy knock-offs? There is a reason why the real thing costs more and the knock-off doesn't, because the real company puts in the time and effort to develop something (and often have patents on it that those Wish products are not abiding by). If everyone starts buying knock-offs and the real companies go under there won't be any new or better products in the future.

  • @kperttul

Please be be careful when you get these cheap alternatives because the factories don't have any kind of EU surveillance for chemicals and manufacturing methods used in these products (aka a real CE mark) and they are not tested to be toxic free. You can get really bad rashes and other health concerns from them. Also consider why the product is so cheap, there are many kinds of slavery in this world. And lastly buying a product that ends up to the junk yard immediately is more expensive for you and the society than the one you really use and love.

Looks like you bought the cheapest of China items instead of getting premium with 4 star plus reviews in the Hundreds still be fraction of the price & maybe not quite as good say 20/30 % worse but maybe 4 x less price 🕵️
