+Amelia Gledhill Thanks so much Amelia :-) if you give yourself a couple of days you will end up with a fabulous masterpiece! I would really love to see a pic...good luck! :-)
WOW! Art coming to life before our eyes. Reminds me of the one about teaching someone how to fish. You can tell this gift was created with much love. Congratulations.
Hey!Amazing cake tutorial.pls guide me if tylose add in the fondant, how much time to side out fondant? Suppose If fondant cracks how we correct it?I m from india after finishing fondantcake how we store the cake.pls reply
What is the alternative to use beneath the cake board for the bottom layer instead of rice crispy treats?? Can I use cake crumbs with buttercream? Will it be strong as the rice crispy or is there any other alternative?
Holy cow!! This amazing.....My 7 year old just.......that's epic..mum can I..........no flew out my mouth so fast! I have no where near the skills to pull this off!! You do though and I'm thoroughly impressed!!
+Renee Jordan Thanks so much Renee and thank you to your sweet 7 year old! I know it looks complicated but if you do it in stages over 2 days it's not that bad :-)
genial video!! podrias hacer una torta minion en la que un minion salta la cuerda? no sé como podria hacer la estructura 😯 (minion jump in a rope) gracias!
How come this video doesn't have millions of views? I just had the idea of making a minion spiderman for the next episode of my show and saw your video :D
I feel bad seeing a famous TH-camr uploads a video of a very simple idea gets millions of views the same day, while we work hard and get a lot less views than what they get in one hour, keep up the hard work.
Do you have a list of supplies needed for the support structure? Also, do you use a drill for the holes? I want to make it but I've never built so much as a shelf before! hahaha
+Dawn2Dusk23 You will definitely need a drill. There is no list of supplies as such but they are listed in the video. If you print a pic of the cake from my FB page, you can label the parts as you watch and pause the video, that may be helpful. Also, if you take that pic to the hardware store and find a helpful assistant you should be able to gather the supplies in no time. If you can build a shelf you are well on your way! I would really love to see a pic of your creation! :-)
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen hahahaha I havent even built a shelf! But my sons birthday is soon so lets see. IF I attempt this, I'll definately let you know! Btw, I am a cake decorator (just not a carpenter yet haha). I'd love to email you my business page info! Thank you for being so helpful!
hi i want to use this structure in the middle of my board and add a cake board on top and place an 8 inch fondant cake on top. Is that structure strong enough?
I am having trouble picturing what you mean. Are you able to message me a sketch via Facbeook? I don't want to give you the wring advice! facebook.com/CupcakeSavvy/
Wow! Soo much work & detail!! You did a fantastic job CSK!! Well done with your carpentry also! ...or should I say plumbing? 😜 lol!! I bet Anthony absolutely loved this Minion cake! Great job👍🏻👏
Thanks so much Adelle! It's his birthday again today...this years cake will be a lot simpler but still super yummy...stay tuned! This minion video was my very first TH-cam video so it's really lovely that you have commented on it today :-)
Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen your first?!? Reaaally!! You did such a fantastic job for a newbie! I'm slowly going thru all your cake videos & enjoying it so much....you are soo talented CSK !! 👍🏻👏😃
That's very sweet...thanks Adelle. I am self taught, no courses. Everything you see on my channel is easy and really doable...I promise! :-) I would love to see pics if you decide to try something :-)
Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen I used to do theme cakes by modelling icing, only for family & friends & that was many moons ago...nothing of your calibre though!! 🙂
Oh so it's that easy?!...... Just kidding - what an incredible cake! I was exhausted just watching!! Always so amazed by people who can do amazing things like this - well done!!!!!!
i have my nephews birthday cake to do and im attempting this,i just have 1 question, how tall are the cakes as im doing mud cakes and they dont rise too much thanxs for all your videos haven't missed one yet 😁
Appreciate your videos, structure/sculpted cakes are something that I'm ummm timid about. I understand the basics, I suppose I just need to play around & go for it :-)
+Smckinney07 Absolutely! If you take your time you will knock it out of the park! Give yourself a minimum of 2-3 days. I like to bake on one day, ganache on the next and cover and decorate on the third. The first time I did it, it was just for fun so there wasn’t any pressure to create a masterpiece for someone's birthday. After the first one, your confidence will sky rocket. My advice is jump in! Good luck and thanks for watching. I have more gravity defying cakes planned for the near future. :-)
I have spent months trying to source flanges and couplers etc and have only had minimal success. Can I assume this is because I am in the UK...???? I've kinda concocted my own internal structure system now but it'd be so much easier if I could get the flanges which screw onto the board...! Also- (Just to give you a laugh) the sizing system in the Uk for plumbers is a living nightmare--- nothing seems to fit!! Its no wonder everything in our houses leaks!! I couldnt find elbows etc in half inch (plumbing still hasn't hit metrication!) so got the 3/4" pipe but none of the couplers elbows etc fit anywhere near!! I'm still experimenting and investigating but I think I need a REAL plumber to advise me. Seems a bit extreme eh? Your cake is amazing and thank you for the tutorial. I must admit I detest Minions like having teeth pulled but hey. No accounting for taste. Peace out :-)
I know EXACTLY how you feel. At the time of making this cake it was a nightmare trying to source the equipment here as well. I also had trouble trying to get a pipe to fit the flange which is why I used the adapters to make the opening smaller. I went to a major hardware store with a plumbing section and just cornered one of the assistants...LITERALLY! I showed him a sketch of what I was trying to achieve and he was extremely helpful. He thought the whole idea was great and he was very keen to help me make it a reality :-) In terms of Minions, they are on the top of the fave list in my household ;-)
Oh PHEW! I was beginning to think I was bang on my own here and everyone else knew some kind of brilliant secret they were keeping well schtumm about..! I've tried doing the collaring an assistant thing here- but just got blank looks and total vacuous nothing. Seems the staff are hired not for their plumbing knowledge but their cashiering skills. I'm currently hunting down a friendly plumber who might exchange knowledge for cake... seems like a fair deal to me. In the meantime your cakes are ***in brilliant and inspiring and I went so far as to experiment making a moon as a test run (modelling choc) using metal screw poles etc painted in chocolate. Learnt a lot and came out ok but the pipes would've been better. Will keep working on it! Happy baking x
+Delvene Spry Thank you. You should give it a go! Just allow a couple of days and you'll be fine...I would love to see a pic if you do :-) Thanks for watching!
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen Im just saying you could get 20 servings out of it, if you cut it in 1x2 slices and treated it like two 5 inch cakes. But I'm sure the 8 guests were happy to eat your yummy cake!
+anwar ulhaq abdul haq Thank you. If you give yourself a couple of days and take it step by step I am sure you would be able to give it a go! If you take a look at our Facebook page you will see a great re-creation by one of my subs. She adapted it to a Batman cake and it looks great! You can see it at this link: facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153380619491028&set=o.200648299975706&type=3&theater

Any cleats with height will do or you can drill an off cut of timber on to the bottom of the board to lift it off the table :-)

When planning ALWAYS factor in transporting the thing. The vibrations are a killer

+Little bit Of averything Thank you :-)
Its 20 servings...
+Dawn2Dusk23 Thank you! Mine was made for a small group of 8 guests and it was more than enough with leftovers! lol :-)
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen Im just saying you could get 20 servings out of it, if you cut it in 1x2 slices and treated it like two 5 inch cakes. But I'm sure the 8 guests were happy to eat your yummy cake!
Dawn2Dusk23 Thanks :-)
Thank you for share! :-) :-) :-)
You're welcome! :-)
can you please tell me the board measurements in inches? thanks!
+Dawn2Dusk23 You can find a great conversion calculator at this link: www.inches-to-cm.com/
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen thanks! the firsr measurent is in mm. 16 mm. is this the thickness of the board?
+Dawn2Dusk23 Yes, 16mm is 1.6cm :-)
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen Sorry, another question! What size paper should we print the template on? What should be the dimensions for the template?
+Dawn2Dusk23 The template is A4 which will give you the same size as the Minion I have made in the video. Good luck :-)
How tall are your 5 inch cakes?
Once the Domes are sliced off, they are approx 3.5" tall :-)
+Cupcake Savvy's Kitchen Thank you love. ❤
that is so Incredible and hard to do

Ya pretty nice cake like your and you post on Facebook are amazing I will try it
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🍷😍
Thank you! :-)
Who else is here in 2021??
