    For some ease you can also just run the line up into the left rear corner where he got his “long rod” from. You can mount the filter almost as high. Most of us won’t be submerging our tailgate.

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey that's a great point, definitely easier to just run it up there. Thanks!

      @@BenStinnett apparently they say to route it up front so when it purges the fumes wont go in the cab. Anyone who has done the hack in the back hasn’t complained tho. I’m going to put it in the back. I’ll comment if I notice fumes.

      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Greg! Good catch, on the 5th Gen 4Runner, the front diff and trans actually already have their breathers up in the engine bay from the factory, no clue why they didn’t just do the rear diff too 🤷‍♂️

      @@BenStinnett Also the Rear Locker if installed

  • @TeppanGod

    Does the locker need a breather too on the offroad versions

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I recall correctly, the locker has a smaller diameter breather hose to a little one way valve. I’ve seen some folks on the forum cut the valve, install a barbed fitting, and extend the hose, but not strictly necessary imo. Hope this helps 👍

  • @FectoReviews
    @FectoReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the front diff not need this? I’m only seeing vids of the rear diff getting this installed on.

  • @TrainWithWillis
    @TrainWithWillis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm confused by the the point where you inserted the hose up under the hood. Before you installed the filter the hose was running vertical, then when installing the filter it had disappeared. Did I miss a step?

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I realized my tube melted an inch hole/gash near exhaust pipe towards the front passenger side. Is there anyway I can relocate the tubing that isn’t damaged like for example, somewhere up in the rear?

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh dang no way? Makes sense I guess the exhaust gets super hot. I would say just try to tie it off as high as possible. Most importantly, just keep that in mind before doing and sort of water crossings in the future!

    Hello, new to all this off road stuff... I"m sold on installing this Diff Breather. My question are there front differential and transfer case breathers that also need to be installed OR anything else for that matter? Thanks

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Malcolm! This varies from vehicle to vehicle, but I know that on these 5th gen 4Runners, the front diff and t-case breathers are already run up into the engine, leaving only the rear diff vulnerable! Good luck with the install!

  • @gbrianmullinax8448
    @gbrianmullinax8448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Two questions, when you installed the filter block the tube went straight up but when you added the filter it was not there. Did you invert the block? Second question, what about the front diff, does it have a breather?

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey man! Yeah I flipped it around just to make things a little bit cleaner on the routing. And yes, the Front Diff and Trans have breathers that are already routed up into the engine bay, so no need to do anything there!

    Super easy to follow along with, great video! Question: The hose that comes in this kit is super rigid and I’d rather plug it into one of the bottom holes of the manifold rather than it being bent into a top hole. Would there be any issue with that? I can’t imagine it matters... Thanks!

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Andrew! I know we connected already, but just so other folks can find the answer they need: Shouldn't be an issue at all! I did end up flipping things around in the final install to use the bottom holes, and haven't had any issues!

    way to expensive, go to auto zone and buy the parts. Couple feet of hose and a small filter. Buy the union from Amazon. Everything will cost you under 20 bucks.

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely a good option! Like I said, totally easy to piece this together yourself and save some cash! The convenience of the kit and peace of mind with the quality air filter from ARB is what sold me on it! But to each their own!

  • @americanmade422
    @americanmade422 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just spend 15 bucks and do it yourself. The 70 dollar kits use cheap hoses. It will get brittle and break eventually. It's way over priced.

    • @BenStinnett
      @BenStinnett  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, like I mentioned, that's definitely a good option to save some cash! The hose in my kit seemed to be a similar quality to anything else I'd be able to pick up, but I will keep an eye on it and update things if it wears out prematurely! Thanks Jeremy!
