    My dad was a fire captain in the city, and I always wondered why he came home and never talked about his job. These guys are first responders and see the the most horrific accidents. God bless the firefighters and first responders. May the victims rest in peace.

      I will tell you a quick story. A year ago at my Mum's she had to call an ambulance for my breathing and back to the ER. I wasn't too bad but couldn't drive and my mum can no longer drive. First to get there were three firemen before the ambulance. They all had their jobs but the one that knelt in front of me and asked the questions had the gentlest eyes. Very intent, gauging my well being, professional, but so gentle and I immediately felt safe. I was by no means anywhere "near" a frantic call, so very routine to them. Yet I remember his eyes.. so gentle and soothing.... And the same eyes that have seen horrors and sadness that VERY FEW people could EVER choose as a career. This is why I get so pissed off at people who have so little respect for the whole EMS workers, EMTs, police, medical professionals, etc. They have the audacity to say that crap and think and TRUST that anytime they need help 911 is there...and they will be there

    That phenomenon once again, driver survives. I think kids need to know the reality, show them this, show them some of the dead bodies, and show them the survivor...and everything he/she will have to face now. And why only blame the driver. You know your kid doesn't have a real licence or any real driving experience, how are you allowing your kid to do exactly what the law says your kid should not be? Someone is saying the driver should be in jail for life. I think that's insane, as he/she is only still a kid. But hey, might as well throw the parents in there too. All the parents, they all allowed their kids to go out at night and didn't bother to figure out who the fuck would be driving. So really, they should all be in prison for life, by your logic.

      Ok... Let's say we make it 18, but then kids are finally allowed to drive at the same age they're considered old enough to die for our country? That doesn't seem right. If you aren't responsible enough to drive then you DEFINITELY aren't responsible enough to make the decision to sign up.
      Just like not being allowed to drink till you're 21 but 3 years younger than that you're considered old enough to die for our freedom.
      Out of all the ages and the responsibilities, license at 16 is the only one that makes any sense to me. You're an adult at 18, you should be able to learn car responsibility before you move out on your own and don't have your parents there to teach you and lend support.

    • @talgwatr
      @talgwatr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The military teaches/forces responsibility 1st off!...2nd- Not every kid moves out the minute they turn 18 3rd- Your assuming every kid does move out & that every kid has "loving/supportive" parents. 4th- 16 yr old drivers basically serve 1 purpose; and that is to make life easier for working parents. ...Parenting isn't easy & shouldn't b!. If more mom's stayed home while kids are growing up; the world would b a much much better place!..If you think differently; that's your prerogative!....Look at the world today & tell me I'm wrong!....Just like boys need "dads": girls need "moms" especially during the "formative" years!. Arguing 1 of those situations (that you are) against each other is truly irrelevant!....Btw; I am past "mid-life"; out of all my "life-long" friends list mayb ….just mayb 5% moved out at 18!...…….What law/rule states that a son or daughter "must" move out at 18!!!!!!…..Critical thinking skills for "younger" ppl is rare; Go to a club/dance place- what is the average age of the paying customers...….It isn't 25, 30 nor 40 nor 50+.....Are some kids more mature & responsible than others.....SURE..no doubt, but by & large the vast majority are NOT!

      It looks like the car lost control, and veered off the freeway hitting the edge of the guardrail there at the bottom of the overpass, then burst into flames as it skidded up the dirt, reaching the crest of that hill and got stuck on the fence. Debris from the car continued forward and caught the ice plant on fire, which we saw earlier in the video

      @KenyanBunnie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Exactly. Everyone wants to blame the driver/survivor. How about blame the parents? How do you not figure out who will be driving, the law says 16 can't drive at night, but you let your kid or their 16 year old friend drive at night. The laws are there for a reason.

      +Kenyan Bunnie LOOK... You were 16 once, too. Therefore, u know... INHIBITION is out the door sometimes, especially during peer pressure of 5 other pals in the car!!! It don't matter WHAT kid is on the honor roll or who's their class's soon-to-be valedictorian. Don't matter what questions are asked by parents either... Yeah, Jojo may be the kid in driver seat as the white BMW with ur kid inside it, pulls out the driveway... but 3 blocks over, Mike may jump in that driver seat. U honestly think ur child's gonna make that txt or call to let u know that little UPDATE? Ummm... NO!!!

    • @shakespeareinstilettos3373
      @shakespeareinstilettos3373 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +Kenyan Bunnie I'm not saying the parents are NOT AT ALL to fault in this. But often times when such horrific tragedy like this occurs, people WANT a logical explanation on HOW this could happen? They want SOMEONE to be at fault, just someone to point ur finger of BLAME!! And truth is, as much as no one wants to admit it... ALL 5 OF THE TRAGICALLY DECEASED HUMAN BEINGS IN THIS CAR... ARE THE ONLY ONES AT FAULT!!!! I'm sorry, as sad as it is... IT'S THE TRUTH. As parents, the best thing we can do(and I can almost BET, that each parent of all 5 deceased in this car... would AGREE & APPROVE of the lesson to be learned)is take what happened, and LEARN FROM IT!! Show our kids the gory, gruesome, horrific TRUTH of what can obviously happen, when kids are careless when driving. Explain to our kids that... whether the driver of the car that THEY'RE BEING DRIVEN IN is under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or even just blind emotion from just finding out their boyfriend is cheating on them... YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF UR OWN LIFE!!! Give them the info needed, in case they EVER feel unsafe for ANY REASON while being the passenger of a car drive that they DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN... for any reason whatsoever!!! There are ways to get out of the vehicle... and u need to equip ur teen with the info they need to do so.

My close close buddy shot his self a couple hours after we got done watching Led Zeppelin movie at theatre that night, It was , later dude, alright brother see ya tomorrow , yeah man cool , WOKE UP TO MY MOM FLYING IN MY ROOM SEEING ME IN BED AND STARTED CRYING, tears of sorrow & joy I was safe & home, later she said the phone rang and someone told her about my friend and she freaked cause I would crash there a lot on weekends, not my time to go !!!! Authorities said he was depressed ( I still call bull shit on that till this day ) he was happy, these days I think it was a chemical in balance in him, but times were different then, not a pill or name for every little thing wrong !! Any way it does get easier, but if you guys were tight ? It never goes away, it doesn’t take but a certain Zep song or two and I think of my best friend, but I can now focus on the good times and smile and laugh and look at pictures of us back then, stoned , long hair not a care in the world!!!!!! So stay young as long as they’ll let ya and much ❤️ to you and your buddies, hold em close !!!

    3 out of the 5 teens that were killed died on impact. That means the other 2 burned to death, geeze. The driver was actually only friends with one of the males in the car, Brandon, the other 4 teens were only there that night because they were friends with Brandon. The driver initially tried to say there was no proof that it was him driving, ya, real piece of shit. He never apologized to any of the families and he said he didn't feel guilt for what he did (kill 5 young people) but felt guilt that he lost his "friends". Whatever that means. The max. sentence was incarceration until he's 21. He was 18 in January 2016, so he's probably out already.

But some of these comments I'm reading breaks my heart. I'm sure this kid wasn't intentionally trying to hurt these kids. You make this poor kid out to be a malicious murderer. What if there was complications with the vehicle? What if there was something in the roadway, that he had to avoid? He just spent a night out with friends, so I'm more than likely sure his intentions were to never hurt anyone. I pray for these families who lost their babies. God Bless.

      If this happened in the state of California it was against the law for the driver to have had those passengers in the car with him at that age. And every one of those kids would have known that. Also the car was a BMW so more than likely it was a parent’s car. They should have known what their son was up to that night and if he was picking up friends. He was driving recklessly and breaking the law by having those passengers in the car with him. Parents really need to start paying attention to what their kids are doing.

      Judging by age alone is unfair discrimination. The legitimate criteria should be the training, the upbringing by the parents, is the kid responsible and mature enough to obey the law, including the restrictions on a provisional license -- how much driver's education, including behind-the-wheel, has the kid had -- some teens are very good drivers and very responsible. To broad-brush all 16-year-olds as too young to drive is blind and unfair prejudice.

      I don't know why you would say 'ridiculous' when in many cases this is very true. The 16 yr old driver wasn't even responsible enough to wear a seat belt! (Only 2 of the passengers were wearing belts). And he was seen driving at a 'ridiculous' rate of speed (estimated to be 100 mph). And he was only on a provisional license .. so he was not even responsible enough to follow the laws that accompany said PRIVILEGE (not permitted to be driving at night, not permitted to have passengers). And lastly, his passengers were three 14 year olds, and two 15 year olds .. now ALL DEAD, because he was SHOWING OFF - driving at 'ridiculous' speed at night in a flashy BMW trying to impress all of the children in the car. That he then killed. In other words, as the post says: HE BECAME DANGEROUS. He would have been too young to even understand the implications of the charges against him! I hope that he has had time to grow up since this happened. He must feel dreadful that he survived when his choices to break the law and show off took the lives of 5 children. And he has to live with those choices. For the rest of his life.

    Why were 14/15 year old kids allowed to ride with a teen driver? Why were they allowed to be out at 2am? At this age, their parents should still be dropping off/ picking up, shuttling their kids everywhere. My daughter is 16, does not want to drive, and is not allowed to ride with a teen driver. It seems there were a lot of bad decisions made by the parents and they will live with this forever. So sad 😭

    I was a volunteer paramedic on weekends, and an insurance company accident investigator during the week. From the scant evidence provided by this video, it looks like he slammed into the guardrail at the foot of the embankment, at a high rate of speed, Instead of being stopped there, he apparently surmounted that guardrail after colliding with it, traveled up the embankment between those chains/posts, and the bridge abutment, How the top was crushed, and the vehicle caught fire, cannot be determined without further investigation. Same for the final position of the vehicle. Based on my years of experience, I say it's an educated guess that the deaths happened as a direct result of the roof of the vehicle being crushed, and not the fire. Mercifully, I doubt if any of the victims felt the effects of the fire, as they were already dead.
    The deaths of children always had a lasting effect on me. RIP Children !!!

    I’d want to know about the driver’s parents.
    - You were aware he had only a provisional license?
    - Who owned the car - you or him?
    - Did you know he planned to have other teenagers in the vehicle with him?
    - Did you know the other victims and/or their parents?
    - Did you know where your son & the victims were going that day?
    - His provisional license specified that he not drive at night. Were you aware he would be driving after sunset?
    - Does you son have a history of underage drinking? Does he use drugs?
    - Had he been caught prior to the accident of transporting other kids or coming home after dark?
    I can’t begin to imagine the lawsuits & insurance pay-outs this tragedy produced! Bottom line? 16-year-olds are stupid, foolish, & far too immature to be responsible drivers. Frankly, most get away with it because nothing too horrible occurs. NOT THIS TIME.

    In Australia you have to be older before you can get a licence. I use to work in insurance and the times a parent would be buying and insuring a vehicle that was way too powerful for an inexperienced child driver was ridiculous and in most cases the parent would say how responsible their child is then I am doing a claim for an accident and their child is in hospital. Then it is too late to be a thoughtful parent and not give in to the pressure from the child.
