Seagull 1963 is a mechanical chronograph made for the Chinese military in the year of 1963. Despite the price point and built quality, many people hate on it simply because it's a Chinese watch. In this episode I give you a quick and simple review of this watch and some really nice close ups.

It is a charming and beautiful watch. The Venus 175 - based column wheel movement dates back to the 1940's. Seagull purchased the machinery and designs from the Swiss manufacturer, then upgraded it by adding jewels. They are a bit delicate, but I only paid $138 for mine on Ali Express and it came with both nato and vintage leather straps. There is no other mechanical chrono available at this price.

First off that hat is 🔥 second this is a really cool watch. The history of this watch/movement, the looks of the watch, and the price definitely exceed any concerns people might have about owning a Chinese watch if you ask me. I don’t have a chronograph yet. Will keep this on my radar

In addition to everything you mentioned , it was one of very few watches that consistently got compliments from all girls and was picked by random women as the most beautiful watch among all the watches on the table during the experiment we ran at our las red bar meeting !!

Great points and observations. However, me personally I'm one of those guys. That said, it doesn't mean that it's not a good watch or even a great watch for what you're getting. Given what China 🇨🇳 is all about I'm personally conflicted about supporting ANYTHING about them that I don't have too. For example, I like San Martin, Steel Dive and the like. However, they are Chinese companies and as an unapologetic Patriotic American combat veteran I just wrestle with it that's all. But again, it doesn't take away from the points you make 😉.
