Boys. You need vertical stabilization tails on large items with high surface-area ratios. Also, fixed attachment points. That chain and tow strap aren't doing you any favors. Talk to old Mark Robesy about surface area's impact on drift, and vertical stabilization. You could make it another international collaboration. And you'll get more hits on Maxwell.

@@hec-haul Yeah and im sure we all enjoy it most when they actually hit their target, so what Dubby said is perfectly correct even for a non scientific channel.
14:58 The reason the class doesn’t crack all the way to the edge is that the layers of glass have all been tempered, by heat treating them during the manufacturing process. The tempering process creates incredible amounts of internal strain/stress, making the glass super hard, but also very brittle. The edges of the glass panes have much less internal strain than the center, making them softer and therefore less brittle, but simultaneously easier to break. The simplest analogy for why “strained” glass is so much stronger is, essentially, glass can bend a certain, set amount before its tensile or compressive strength gives out, and it cracks. The strain kinda pulls the glass back strait so it can resist harder objects and forces. Think of it as a rope that you can pull on really hard and be just fine, but if you bend it more that a little, it’ll snap. If you pull the rope really tight, you can put more weight on it before it bends too much and snaps. In a similar way, tempered glass pulls on itself really hard everywhere but near the edges, that’s why they are less hard. Edit: grammar and content

They don't reach the edge because typically the edge is the strongest part of glass. It has the most support due to a good strong outline. The middle however, does not have as much strength because it is just glass in the middle with way less support, concluding in the cracks not making it all the way to edges. I am a little bit sad saying this, as I used to LOVE this channel. BUT, with the lack of new ideas and content, and the fact I am really FED UP watching things falling off a 45m tower, I am actually UNSUBSCRIBING after 2+ years watching. I have given it a few months now, but it just doesn't get any better. Sorry guys, wish you all the best, but I think you have lacked effort in your videos. What happened to the trick shots? the world record attempts?
I just wanted to say. Thank you for your videos! They’ve gotten me through a lot. I’ve gone through 3 surgeries in the past 2 years, a lot of depression and doubt during those times. Your videos really truly helped me. God bless you guys! Much love!
Great question with an answer for the person with the time he will spend wasting his life with watching every drop video from before but eventually there will be a person who answers your insane question
So i've paused it before the glass drop and i'm fairly certain given its shape its going to start turning and either hit the blade flat or miss completely. Which made me think, have you guys ever thought of using guide wires for stuff like this. The speed reduction would be minimal but the increase in accuracy would be huge.
That can be easily calculated. The wildcard though would be figuring out the drag coefficient of the item since they aren't dropping things in a vacuum
Well considering that gravitys pull is 9.8m/s2, with most items you could get a pretty bang on estimation as factors like drag wouldnt be a big issue at only 45 m.
Fainted actually mass doesn’t matter for the velocity on the way down. It can matter for vertical stabilization, but it doesn’t change the acceleration.
James Chartrand okay, but you’re implying that the speedometer would gauge the rate of speed in which the item accelerated up to for the entirety of the 45m drop. However, they would be shooting the speedometer at a random location towards the last 10 or so meters of the drop, which would be a completely different rate than its impact rate. So no, it would not be very easily calculated without all of those figures.
Here’s some commtest ideas: What is Scott’s favorite restaurant? What make and model was Brett’s father’s first car? What class did Derek have first in senior year of high school? How many ounces does Rexy weigh? What color is Scott’s favorite pillow? How tall is Derek’s dresser?(In centimeters) What is Brett’s favorite superhero?
Some of these are impossible or very unlikely for people who live in the US or outside Australia to figure out. No one will know what restaurants they have or what courses they offer in year 12 of secondary.
The fact they have a walkie talkie is hilarious, as if they aren't screaming at eachother like they are talking back n forth on a tower that's 4 or 5 times bigger than the one they use. Their quiet video is by far their best one, one hr video n u have a headache from 13minutes of high picted shrieks n yells.
Can you just stop using the same generic fucking reply for every video especially when your asking for "justice" I don't think you know what the hell you're saying
@Kevin Holzer Don't know my friend. If the HR dude's need me to research that answer, as a proud member of The 44 Club. I would get that answer for you!
you could always fill the tires with some expanding foam or something similar to help them retain some rigidity, likely to cut alot better then. keep up the great work guys looking forward to many more laughs
They dropped anvils, wrecking balls, jet skis, cars... They may have finally flew too close to the sun with the giant tire x) Let's hope the Centre won't be mad for that.
If you want the objects to drop straight down try giving them spin so the air resistance won’t effect the directional pull, instead it will make it easier to cut through the air making it drop a little bit faster and more accurately! Good luck with next video, excellent videos though !

Rexy is bruised battered and bloody lol
"Circular piece of beefy rubber"
Scott Gaunson 2020
Circular piece of rubber : 1
Fence: 0
Jwiw
Gaunson: “That’s a new sprinkler”
😂😂😂
As soon as I saw that comment that part played lol
I am a little bit sad saying this, as I used to LOVE this channel. BUT, with the lack of new ideas and content, and the fact I am really FED UP watching things falling off a 45m tower, I am actually UNSUBSCRIBING after 2+ years watching. I have given it a few months now, but it just doesn't get any better. Sorry guys, wish you all the best, but I think you have lacked effort in your videos. What happened to the trick shots? the world record attempts?

Comtest: "How many drops have been done before breaking the fence." "How much did it cost to replace the fence?"
That's a good one
I just noticed how many likes this comment has!
I just wanted to say. Thank you for your videos! They’ve gotten me through a lot. I’ve gone through 3 surgeries in the past 2 years, a lot of depression and doubt during those times. Your videos really truly helped me. God bless you guys! Much love!
Commtest question: "how many times has rex been dropped.
Exactly non rexy flys... Like a rock but our boy is doing it!
Great question with an answer for the person with the time he will spend wasting his life with watching every drop video from before but eventually there will be a person who answers your insane question
Commtest idea: How many cameras does editor Jack have to set up every time you drop from the tower?
Tomy Cipas 5
Also what the fps os for the slo mo cameras
They should make a bts vid
Finally, after watching all this time, the fence actually takes a hit!
Just casually eating a croissant on top of a 45 meter tower 😅
Future Commtest:
"What song did Guanson sing to on the way to the tower this morning?"
Guanson doesn't sing... that's strangle a cat!
Commtest entry: What should we name the fence?
Minttu. Because it wasn't Minttu be destroyed
Fancy fency
So i've paused it before the glass drop and i'm fairly certain given its shape its going to start turning and either hit the blade flat or miss completely. Which made me think, have you guys ever thought of using guide wires for stuff like this. The speed reduction would be minimal but the increase in accuracy would be huge.
Love the bullet proof glass vs axe! How about next video, reverse the attempt. Secure the glass, drop the axe. Great videos!
Commtest “how many segments have we had ‘science with gaunson’?”
Commtest Entry: Use a speedometer to measure the speed of the item free-falling.
Guess the speed of the falling item!
That can be easily calculated. The wildcard though would be figuring out the drag coefficient of the item since they aren't dropping things in a vacuum
Well considering that gravitys pull is 9.8m/s2, with most items you could get a pretty bang on estimation as factors like drag wouldnt be a big issue at only 45 m.
ok I like it but we now its 44mph
Fainted actually mass doesn’t matter for the velocity on the way down. It can matter for vertical stabilization, but it doesn’t change the acceleration.
James Chartrand okay, but you’re implying that the speedometer would gauge the rate of speed in which the item accelerated up to for the entirety of the 45m drop. However, they would be shooting the speedometer at a random location towards the last 10 or so meters of the drop, which would be a completely different rate than its impact rate. So no, it would not be very easily calculated without all of those figures.
Commtest question: How many flies has everyone accidentally swallowed.
😂
Pure protein.
I was going to say he same thing for the commtest.

“How much does the giant axe head weigh?” How’s that for an idea
About 300kg
Revealed in the first axe video
This week's commtest should've been "How much did the fence cost to replace?"
Commtest entry: How many times has Scott said get the bell on! 😆
Here’s some commtest ideas:
What is Scott’s favorite restaurant?
What make and model was Brett’s father’s first car?
What class did Derek have first in senior year of high school?
How many ounces does Rexy weigh?
What color is Scott’s favorite pillow?
How tall is Derek’s dresser?(In centimeters)
What is Brett’s favorite superhero?
Some of these are impossible or very unlikely for people who live in the US or outside Australia to figure out. No one will know what restaurants they have or what courses they offer in year 12 of secondary.

Commtest: How to retire Rexy when his time has come.
What you came for 14:01. Thanks for the likes
Bloody legend I salute you sir
No one:
Not a single soul:
Gaunson: “Atomic tomato? Are you freaking high?” 😂
I wanna see bulletproof glass VS. Bulletproof glass
Out of everything: the boat, car, and plane, the TIRE breaks the fence 😂
Like right 😂
No kidding...crazy🤨
😂😂 Exactly boys- this is too funny
How long have they been doing this? It was only a matter of time.
"That's why you dont take on a 45m jump with a bike"
Fabio wibmer hits a 42m jump
was it vertical though?
@@hanasong452 nope it wasnt, good point but Fabio is still impressive
Nice profile pic dude
@@zahr501st8 thy I guess
A straight drop though??
The fact they have a walkie talkie is hilarious, as if they aren't screaming at eachother like they are talking back n forth on a tower that's 4 or 5 times bigger than the one they use. Their quiet video is by far their best one, one hr video n u have a headache from 13minutes of high picted shrieks n yells.
Hard Disagree.
Commtest Question: How Many Commtest’s have there been
You should make “live like Rex” merch. Since he’s done it all. I’d buy it.
Livin’ like rexy
Thatd be cool but at the same time his whole existence is getting beaten up and i dont think people want to live like that 😂
derek johnson I thought about that😂
“Dropping Stanford off 45 meter tower”. April fools day special

I think y'all should do a compilation of every time Rexy was part of a drop.
I was searching for that comment that'll say "Here's the part you came for" with a timestamp but I couldn't find it so here it is 14:02
Thanks bro 🙏
thx
Thank god. There content is good but all the talking is to much
really glad because after that anti climax I'd have been REALLY pissed if I'd watched the whole damn thing...
Yeah ikr they didn't even get a clean split
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Editor Jack for all the epic work he does, especially that wonderful bit of suspense with the tire
Can you just stop using the same generic fucking reply for every video especially when your asking for "justice" I don't think you know what the hell you're saying
Jesus Christ loves youu please turn to him before its too late to repent please
Commtest: How many times has Rexy been in danger!
@Kevin Holzer Don't know my friend. If the HR dude's need me to research that answer, as a proud member of The 44 Club. I would get that answer for you!
You guys definitely need to do a collab with The Slow Mo Guys!
"This is not minimal. I mean I can now walk through the fence. I couldnt do that before" 🤣
Comtest: how many times has there been a science with Gaunson ?
Too many?
;)
When they didn't cut to the tyre footage immediately, I knew the fence was toast. 😆
For me it was the sound. I was like: "That's not the sound of the axe giving way. I hope the Gravity Center won't be too mad."
you could always fill the tires with some expanding foam or something similar to help them retain some rigidity, likely to cut alot better then.
keep up the great work guys looking forward to many more laughs
I've been waiting for them to break that fence for so long hahahaha. This is a great episode
6:45 you could sell this footage to Bridgestone and they would say We make the toughest tire in the world😁🤘🏼
A minute of silence for the luckiest fence that finally died for the first time in this video
They dropped anvils, wrecking balls, jet skis, cars...
They may have finally flew too close to the sun with the giant tire x) Let's hope the Centre won't be mad for that.

Next comtest should be, “what is the next addition we should make to the ‘giant’ Series” (as in giant axe, dart, tramp etc series)
That’s got to be one of the best intro ever .
Favourite quote; “if we could split a bike definitely would get a little chuckle”
4:17 Herron’s “Axe-tion “ was so underrated! 😂🤣🤪

Here we see the wild Guanson yelling nonsense at his companion....
The glass has the high ground
Commtest Entry: to the closest second how long does it take for the winch to go from the sand to the top.
I believe they said that when they got the winch.
If you want the objects to drop straight down try giving them spin so the air resistance won’t effect the directional pull, instead it will make it easier to cut through the air making it drop a little bit faster and more accurately! Good luck with next video, excellent videos though !
