If I take a monotonic transformation of the utility function, do I take my marshallian demand derived here from back into the original utility function????
Let U =XY. Here's a way to think about it. To take the partial derivative of this is function with respect to X, set Y = C, where C is just a constant. Then U = XC ,or rewriting U = CX. The derivative of this is just C. Replace the C with the Y variable and you get the correct partial derivative of the function with respect to X, which is Ux = Y. Do the opposite when finding the partial derivative of U with respect to Y; that is set X = C and then take the derivative.
harry james . In this case, we treat y as a constant when we take the partial derivative of U with respect to x. For example, let y equal a constant like 2. So U = 2x. What's the derivative of 2x? Answer = 2, the constant which is represented by y.
YOU CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE HOW HELPFUL THIS VIDEO WAS, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
God bless you Man, your video is a real lifesaver, also your way of explaining is real nice.
I appreciate the kind words! Thank you!
Thanks n always support from your new subscriber 🎉👍
Wow! Very helpful. A big thank you, from Sri Lanka! 🙏
So the Lagrangian method arrives at the same answer, when should I use your method and when should I use Lagrangian? Whats the difference?
it will use when you maximize the utility sorry i know its very late but just saw the video
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER .MUCH RESPECT FROM MOROCCO
Am you 4 years later😭
any idea where can I find questions with answers for practice ?
adamsın reyiz hoca öyle bi zor soru sormuş ki sanki kendisi çözememiş, sayende hallettim.
Thak you so much sir.....love from Pakistan
hero without a cape.
Can I send you the recording of my lecture? So that you will know how good you are!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot...Explained so brilliantly and easily...

Is this hicksian demand function??
So the derivative in terms of x/y is always y/x and x/y remains constant?

Thank you so much..it was Very helpful ...
Very helpful, thanks!
What is the condition equation "MUx/Px = MUy/Px" ?
+Tuan Nguyen It is the first order conditions -- slope of budget constraint equals slope of indifference curve (marginal rate of substitution)
Thanks a lot. Your video helped me a lot.
Thank you sir 😊
Really helpful, thank you
thanx ... this one was really very helpful .
Can u please make a vedio on "duality between CES indirect utility and expenditure functions ". ?
I hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/9_LjHSAOSlQ/w-d-xo.html
Very helpful. The denominator on the final equation should be 2PxPy i believe
no it shouldnt
Thank you
very helpful thank you
