What is silverpoint?

What is silverpoint? I share a recently completed silverpoint drawing which is going to be exhibited in London in May . I explain the fundamental principles of silverpoint drawing and how it differs form other graphic approaches.
Silverpoint has a long history and was used to great effect by Renaissance artists including Dürer, Leonardo Da Vinci and Holbein.
In my own practice I find the slow considered technique it imposes supports my shift in recent years towards a very methodical and calm way of working.
The work itself 'Hinterland' reflects my current interest in museum objects, historical artefacts and the implications of figurative conventions transported from different cultures.
