I think it's the opposite - the gyro agitates the robot enough that it had any chance of falling over. If the spinner wasn't spinning it wouldn't even be wiggling back and forth; just spinning drive wheels wouldn't be enough to make it move at all.
depends. You have a weight limit for a bot obviously, so if you reach it with your current design, its a designflaw you cant do much abt. Besides that, there are a lot of bots with eg flippers that help adjusting. Or you just build your bot in a way that it can drive no matter if its upside down and in a way that it cant really stay in a position where it cant move. So not hard per se, but hard to do within the weight, time and financial limits
@@robinsimon4176I'm not talking about flipping over if the robot is upside down; I'm talking about it not getting stuck on a side. You don't need a flipper for that, you just need a side that isn't flat, or at least where the robot isn't balanced.

some people would say it's sportsmanlike to help a stuck bot so the fight continues. i get that, and i wouldn't argue it, but imo take the win if you can while not damaging your bot and risking a loss. plus, these things aren't cheap or necessarily easy to repair serious damage.
@@conradfrancis4662 Yes but two small say 3 inch wide pieces of steel won't add much weight and could withstand a hit better. And for bonus points sharpen them to an edge and use them as spikes if your primary weapon goes down!
Not completely sure that it would. The gyroscopic effect was doing a good job of holding it upright, and a wedge on the back would lift the wheels off of the ground. Addition or not, the answer is stopping the weapon from spinning first.

Aw come on, that's lame. Booo, shoulda knocked them back on their feet rather than use the dinky flamethrower to hand out little slaps. Sportmanship and showsmanship is part of the game.
Malice shouldn't had their spinner running because of gyro effects holding it up in balance...
The weapon is so heavy it takes MUCH more than 10 seconds for it to stop spinning
@@brokenchalk1607 They had like a minute at least
Very smart observation. But I think in the heat of the moment they didn't think about it.
@@michaeltyomin2128 yeah, its easy to drive the bots here on yt 😊

Every Battlebot should have a built in monkey that hops out and self rights it when needed.
Maybe we should just put armor on monkey and give them weapons and have them fight it out.
I love the team reaction to the mini bot getting the DOT attack in.
That was smart on the part of Mad Catter. If they hit, they'd be taking the chance that Malice could have a come back
Lol jesus
Gassy Cat getting in there to set Malice on fire while he was stuck on its back was positively malicious.
Man I thought that was my phone
One of Madcatter's builders said they knocked Malice back over after the fight with their little paw. I wish Battlebots showed it.
A WIN FOR A HAMMER
Knocked them out without having to use the hammer
a round back: that's all what malice needed there
Just a thought. The flywheel could be acting as a gyroscope, try rocking with it stopped?
That thing will spin for a good 60 seconds after its turned off.
Correct. This is why balancing on a moving bike is so easy.
The design flaw makes the win even funnier.
0:27 Dat notification tho!
How hard is it to design your bot so it will tip over if it gets on a side?

Ah yes, the thing
Hmm a simple piece of angle steel on the back of Malice would've prevented this
It wouldn't even need to be steel it could be plastic

They added it in s6
Meh.....these are the ones I hate....Yea I know, it's about winning...but more than that it's about putting on a great show and Mad Catter did not.
It would be fun if they push it after countdown ends.
What a dirty trick. Foul on catter
In the future they just need a single bolt hanging out a couple inches on the back and they would be good to go

MadCatter did the smart thing. Just take the easy KO without incurring any damage or wear.
too fast stick moves, otherwise it would have flipped back to flat.

If Malice stopped spinning it’s weapon than it would of self-righted.
They waited nearly forty seconds to start a countdown for an obvious knockout. I guess a fifteen seconds fight wasn't long enough.
