Krk is one of the oldest towns in Croatia. It was always a popular port but its stature grew even bigger when it became Roman territory in 191 BC.
It has been one of the most important ports in Croatia since Roman times. The heritage of this town can be seen by its well-preserved buildings and structures which are not only beautiful but also have great historical importance. One such place to visit is the Church of St Catherine, which was built on the site of an early Christian basilica from the 4th century AD.
If you want to explore Krk, make sure you take a walk around the old town center and visit some of the old churches. One example is the Church of St Stephen or the Church of St Francis which are just two.
