Something I really appreciate with the character designs is that the characters does not chare the same face, something really uncommon for anime and especially for A1-Pictures.
For some reason, nearly all foreign characters seem to exist either without surnames, or are half Japanese so they can have a Japanese surname. It's a bit weird, really. Possibly it's harder to think of surnames for characters because often Japanese surnames have some kind of meaning in the kanji, whereas some countries no longer have surnames with any meaning (Places like Britain used to have surnames based on a person's occupation, i.e. Cooper, but some of these jobs are either extinct or just too uncommon for there to be much point in spending time brainstorming).
