It's a good idea to build an entire runway underground and at the end have a gradual elevated path similar to that in aircraft carriers. By doing this, you can hide jet planes anywhere in a desert or a forest without risking enemies bombings. This concept exists for tanks and some countries have this. But they never revealed it as it's a tactical method.

designing tunnels is my field… if I were to design such a base, I will place the main facilities centrally and have the needed openings required for ventilation and access developed. The obvious thing to do is have multiple tunnels but no.
I will however develop auxiliary tunnels from the central facilities outwards and stoping at some meters before breaking into surface. These tunnels can be used as storage for the mining equipment.
If the enemy evades the obvious air defenses outside and bombs an opening, the miners will crank up a new one in hours… I will probably ask the pilots how much runway do they need and at what maximum gradient can they afford to take off …. This is not rocket science and even in that, they make good rockets, so yeah, don’t worry about their tunnels

I believe the idea was first implemented by Sweden. They have such facilities spread across the country linked to their highways and are not detectable. What I wonder about is if even a few fighters move out of their parked position to get airborne on their own power then what kind of ventilation is provided for? I remember way back in 1990 I had the misfortune of being exposed to such fumes leaking into the passenger cabin of an Airbus A320 just before the doors were locked for take off. Ended up with severe lower lung infection.

Very clever, are you not!? So Iran is this stupid and yet US and Zion have still failed to do something about Iran! This is just one piece of the puzzle. Unbelievable how illiterate and yet arrogant people are.... In deterrence doctrine we have 4 issues:
1- Balance of terror: To be able to scare your enemy!
2- Flexible response: In case of an enemy action, having the ability to choose from a large list of different responses.
3- Big Retaliation/pay back: Being able to respond to an enemy action with a bigger counter-action.
4- Total war: Being able to drag the situation or escalate to total annihilation or total war.
Why Iran has not been attacked like others? Certainly not because of the good heart of its enemies, rather because Iran has achieved capability in these 4, years ago! So Iran is very scary in the eyes of its enemies in various ways. It has the ability to respond very flexibly and thus able to greatly surprise its enemy. Can retaliate with a bigger response against every enemy action. Can easily expand the conflict to world war.
The under mountain base just adds to Iran's "second-strike" capability which is directly powering the above 4 points. Furthermore it shows Iran's ability to make various effective and creative underground bases.

@@onetruekeeper I beg to differ - u need heavy clearing machineries and on acting to do so will be the give away of the real location and a 2nd missile strike (not aircraft strike) will be initiated and so their defences system must fortified which also be the target of strikes and finally the machinery too will struck to stall the exiting fighters in these bunkers.
I suppose there must be alternative exits within the same bunkers to buy time to get the aircraft out for action and again the response time will be delayed.
The game in this strategy is to delay any aircraft from taking off in full strength to successfully compete their intended mission to at least 75-80% to gv that bit of edge to do the necessary damage as planned.
It will be a cat and mouse game of who gets fooled and as known you plan to lose something deliberately so you can activate the others just in time to overcome the other ploy and strategy .... in the end it still comes to response and reaction timing to any attack starting be it from bases of enemy, crossing their bodies and the readiness & capabilities of their defence Vs attack system used.
Interesting is it not - we go to our basics of snake and ladder game of chances in fooling each other's moves !!

problem is that, they can launch only one at a time and chances are, if their location is compromised, the planes might be shot down even before they take off....and lastly they should make sure that their underground facility is deep and strong enough to resist an Earth penetrating weapon.....A nuclear bunker buster, also known as an earth-penetrating weapon (EPW), is the nuclear equivalent of the conventional bunker buster. The non-nuclear component of the weapon is designed to penetrate soil, rock, or concrete to deliver a nuclear warhead to an underground target. and just to Add, they said that these EPW's can penetrate up to 20ft which will not be enough to penetrate at first...but what if several were used??? in the end...such underground facility it may be safe at first but it would be a deathtrap in the end because its the entrance that comes down first and people would be trapped inside.....and inevitably...no matter how deep it is would eventually get penetrated by using several EPW'S enough to finish the job...
