Seriously, it’s refreshing to hear someone updating their beliefs to new information, it’s the only way to grow. See the other comments refusing to even engage with the subject matter bc they don’t like the person it’s coming from. That’s exactly what they are lambasting the left for with all this TDS stuff, this video even references these types of people “maybe it’s that his administration is doing unprecedented things that necessitate the extra harsh coverage” paraphrasing a bit but like seriously how do we reach these people. Hopefully teaching people to question and challenge their own beliefs will one day break them out of this mess. Trump will surround himself with more loyalists than last time and he will try to break the system again and with the recent Supreme Court ruling the safety nets that held last time will not hold again.

You are absolutely correct. Most really strong leaders have big egos and they need to have big egos to make confident decisions. Further, it is extremely common for great leaders to have sociopathic qualities, which allow them to make better 'business' decisions than being tied up emotionally in breaking a few eggs (hurting some people for the greater good). There is ZERO doubt Trump loves people, loves to be adored by people, and wants people to be happy - because of him. Tons of employees have been asked about working for and with Trump and his family and nothing but rave reviews

Ego is not preferable confidence is. They are not the same thing. You can be confident and keep your ego in check. Too much ego means you don't see the world as it is you see it as it pertains to you and your view of yourself. Trump definitely has an ego problem. He is unable to set aside his opinion of himself in order to make rational decisions that benefit the people he is leading. Trump only cares about how he is viewed and not willing to put that aside for the benefit of his people. That is ego

  • @wheelysteve

My honest take: it could be waffle, but it's genuine. I honest to God believe we have got ourselves in this ridiculous situation in the West (I'm not in the US I'm English, but we have very similar political issues), that has been created due to the outright aggression shown to anyone who simply isn't sure about what they think. So many act as if it's just obvious what to think. "of course you vote left, the right are evil and only for the rich". "of course you don't vote trump, he's insane". "of course you're for all of the lgbtq+ causes, you aren't homophobic/transphobic are you". We've villainised being unsure, asking questions and genuinely been able to just say "I'm not sure I get it", because if you say to someone for example "I just don't understand the hate for Trump", you will quite literally get so much blowback from some that it will naturally make you feel like it just isn't worth speaking up again, no one wants to be shouted at. I'm not even speaking in hypotheticals, this very thing happened to me recently when I said I didn't understand the levels of hate for Trump, I got shouted at and at one point even got told I should shut up and that don't I know all trans people are afraid they'll be killed or that he will kill our kids. I had no idea what to do with that, I'm not trans, I know a couple of trans people but honestly they're not the ones who would shout me down, which is what makes it all even stupider.
And so people don't talk, not openly. Oh sure, like minded people talk, but that's as far as it goes. You will openly explain your feelings to someone you know shares the same thoughts you do, but we don't grow or learn anywhere near as fast by only talking with people we are in lockstep with, but it has become so difficult to openly discuss things with opposition, and then they act surprised when they find out people don't understand their perspectives. It's sad, really sad. The older I get, the more I understand why older generations used to go by the idea that you can talk about anything with friends except for two things, religion and politics, they're off the table. Unfortunately I think for the good of all of us, that might have been the better way.

It's gotten to the point that neither 'side' can even vocalize a thought or idea without the other side seeing it as an existential threat to their existence.
This is basically what happens before civil wars break out, because we have no resolution method for it. Or rather, any that we did have are quickly being attacked and assaulted and no one is willing to defend them. Like elections, where having any sort of security or audit is apparently evil.

I feel that last statement. If im to atate my values, it lands me center left, maybe democratic socalist. But to expand on these feelings, I dont feel so strongly about these values, where I want to convince anyone of them. I dont run into too many politically driven issues in day to day life. It seems to all be condensed to specific areas, maybe some schools, and online discourse. My daughter is in 7th grade, and there isnt any political influence being pushed on her or her students. We hear about special cases, but we dont hear about the apolitical atmosphere around us. People will often chose to make tjings political, and in most cases, im guessing its easy to ignore. Overall, if I have to recommend a political view to people, its to not let it influence so much of your thoughts and actions. People become obsessive, maybe out of boredom. But the cure is to focus on other things, like spending time with family and friends, and building a life for yourself personally to enjoy.

    • @femsplainer
      @femsplainer หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@BlaqAdam No you are incorrect. Wisdom, knowledge and intelligence are byproducts of critical thinking. We are all born into a state of ignorance, it is only through critical thinking that we can gain knowledge, ie put hand on hot stove and burn yourself, therefore do not put hand on stove. With Knowledge comes intelligence and through proper application of intelligence comes wisdom.
We tend to shortcut a lot of this stuff by gaining knowledge through reading books and taking classes but this means that far too many people end up having absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever. They are TOLD what to think, and they think it. This is the origin of the NPC meme that is fairly popular right now.
For example, people like Destiny say that J6 was an insurrection, but I look at it and ask a very simple question of "How?".
How are unarmed men and women storming into the capital when all the senators and house reps have been removed going to lead to an overthrow of the country?
Is the building itself the country?
Does simply occupying it confer upon the occupants the power to control the country?
These things matter. If my two year old tells me he has usurped my position as parent and is now in control, does that make it so? Do I need to physically subdue my 2 year old to regain my title or do I have to simply bow to his whims because he says so?
Critical thinking allows us to understand that J6 as it happened could NEVER have actually resulted in the country being conquered because the people that were there that day had no actual means of subduing the system. They were at best very lightly armed and had no real end goal in mind that could wrench the seats of power away from those who owned it, because they didn't have a military backing or support from a significant enough proportion of the population in order to accomplish such a thing.
And yet, midwits like Destiny will argue that the country teetered on the very brink of existence on J6 because a rowdy riotous crowd stormed the capital...that is precisely NOT an example of being able to think critically about a topic.

Came from the Destiny video because at the very end you started touching on one of the conversations that I believe we need to have as a country. It was frustrating for a number of reasons, but here's what it made me think: I never see discussions that start with a specific callout of where the "other side" is, or could be, coming from. If we can approach discourse with the intent to understand, or if nothing else, acknowledge where the other person(s) is coming from, we can expect a far more fruitful outcome. I believe this would, over time, help to reduce some of the name calling and personal attacks that are so ubiquitous in political "discussions" right now. Now that report is incredibly convincing, to me. My parents, friends, colleagues, people I go to church with, etc., etc. could hear all of this and not find it convincing AT ALL. I was begrudgingly planning to vote Trump prior to hearing this, and frankly can't in good conscience do that now. So, I am truly stuck because I refuse to vote for Kamala Harris either. From my perspective, both sides are problematic to say the least. I want to see an honest conversation about what's driving this increasing extremism on both sides. I got frustrated at the end of Destiny's video because I could see the conversation being steered in an important direction. Anyway, if you read this, thanks for giving me something to think about, and I look forward to hearing your perspective on other topics.

(also, looking at this comment section, it doesn't even sound like people watched THIS video.. Warren deserves a better community with people to represent what he's trying to do by showing good faith by using critical thinking skills... not just look at what "team" someone's on and follow blindly).
There's many comments here who are unfortunately lacking the critical thinking skills of trying to at least build some type of bridge to at least reach out and have a respectful dialogue to, at minimum, listen to the nuances that people like me, Traditional/Clinton era Democrats worry about. Many communities typically just adhom/clip chimp/make assumptions of what they think were about, which is so far from the truth, and annoying. I hate these Twitch Hamasabi dogsh* far left, echo chambered, "advocates" who have successfully proved the horseshoe theory to be true with anything America=BAD. I know that's NEVER going to be me, nor D. I just get nervous in the idea of fixing what isn't broken.. (our Constitution). I believe we live in the best country in the world, and I, too, find it a bit frustrating that we can't pull out a couple of genuine, good hearted Dem and a Rep who act actually Presidential, so we can be proud of our country once again.
and btw, I, personally, felt much more conflicted when Biden was still running.. i do feel much better with Kamala, who, at least isnt Hillary (It makes me very gleefully petty if Kamala becomes the first female President over Hillary.. I just always found her so entitled and smug personally).. I'm likely voting Blue just for the sake of at least keeping things still afloat, but thats just my choice. I think there's a lot of healing America needs done to return back to some form of semblance of Patriotism we used to once have..

That’s really interesting. I’m able to cognitively decouple my emotions from politics fairly well, so I don’t hold anything against you or your views, @tonysienzant6717.
What’s nutty is that I feel the exact same way and likely would’ve made the exact same comment, but with the political parties entirely swapped. I’ve become incredibly disillusioned in the domain of politics in 2024 that I’m still at a loss for words, grappling with all the messaging in the online sphere. I voted for Trump in 2016. Again in 2020. I’m having a tough-incredibly, tough-time justifying giving him my vote again in 2024.
What a crazy past few years it’s been for all of us. From C-19 to the rapid advances in AI (I develop fine-tuned LLMs for small businesses), I’m incredibly concerned about the mis- and disinformation campaigns currently rolling out, and it, really, barely hasn’t even started wrt leveraging AI bot farms in foreign nations.

They view him the same way some of you commentators view Trump; someone beyond the pale. And you can make all the arguments you want, but at the end of the day, he celebrated an innocent dude dying. You could argue that it was just a joke, but even in that circumstance, it is a morally bankrupt joke. More so, I think a guy who views Trump as a threat to America might be happy when Trump is down a few points. This points to that tweet as an obvious celebration of the victims' death. And a dude being at a political rally for a candidate you don't like does nullify his innocence. He is innocent because nothing he did warranted being shot dead. I’m willing to admit that it is most likely an irrational agitation on my end, but it’s something I can’t ignore. It’s like an instinctual revulsion. It’s like something deep within me knows that there is something tremendously wrong here but it lacks the ability to articulate itself, to lower itself into a more grounded level. It’s like solving a maze by starting from the end point and working your way to the start when everyone else (Destiny and the like) is trying to solve it from start to finish, which I guess is the dilemma of pure intuition.
