That was a fun time
The problem is : You were thinking "The plates come back too slowly", BUT the plates come back after a set time AFTER you delivered them. So to solve this you need to deliver faster. You can achieve this by NOT waiting for a plate, then going to the fish/shrimp, then delivering it BUT INSTEAD taking fish/shrimp to the plate and immediately delivering it, this way the time between the plate spawning and the plate being delivered is minimized AND AS RESULT you will have every plate back much quicker

As soon as you deliver a dish the game will start a timer (that you cant see).
After this timer runs out you will get the plate from that dish back.
So to get plates back faster you need to deliver them faster.
And to do that you just take the food to the plate and not the plate to the food ;)

Take the food to the plate, not the plate to the food. Currently you are waiting for the plates to respawn, which is dead time when you're not working towards serving. Grab the next meal, run back to the plates (by which time one should either have respawned, or come close to doing so), then plate and grab (double hit A) and send. This also removes the error when the game puts the plate on a counter you weren't aiming for. Hope this helps.

There's a couple of things you could still do to optimize, like taking the fish/prawns to the plates, not vice-versa. This saves a lot of time as you don't need to wait for the plates to spawn. You can also drop food on the ground around the area, or have the choppers throw them into the ground instead of walking all the way to drop them on a counter. The "mover" should then move the fish on the ground closer to the server.

You guys should definitely try again! If you didn't know, you can add food to the stacked plates that spawn back in. Try taking the food to the plates, rather than taking the plate to the food. Less running that way!

You guys were like 97% perfect. Just a few little stumbles that kept you from the 4 star (putting plates on the wrong item, etc). But yeah... 4 stars isn't worth trying to do, ultimately. The devs made those numbers waaaaay too high. XD
I think it's to make up for the fact that the base game has such low numbers.
they didn't really make the scores too high for what they are supposed to be, but i wished this wouldn't be the 4th star but the 5th, and a 4th star would be rather more like 3 stars in Overcooked 1
Yes I liked the overcooked 1 difficulty a lot. you had to put some thought and effort in but it was fun and fair to achieve 3 stars.
The 4th star here is like world record optimisation levels though, which for me personally is just tedious and I lost interest quite fast.
Increased by 10% means that the top score submitted was 3000. So really, you guys got MORE than the top scorers they at least know about.

fonpotter Yeah. Either way, it's way different from working with 3 other people. And also, I was talking about the scores submitted, per their conversation about how the 4 star scores were decided.
Remy Mafia Tbh I just posted this because they said it was impossible to get the 4th star with 4 players. The video is there just to show people how it is possible to achieve over 4k even when playing alone.
After adding 10% to 3000, it is 3300 so the top score submited must have been 3000 at the time. That means when you guys played this you probably had the world record! Great Job Guys! Maybe if you did this once every other week on one level i would love to see it. Luv what ya all do!

I belive Shrimp and Fish must be in the same spot in the middle island to the right with getting the plates. Only way it might be done so Jas would need to think or walk as much.
@Stumpt there is a video in TH-cam hitting not just the 4 stars.. BUT 3620 IN TOTAL and it's actually kinda cheap, but it's damn well effective !
You guys had the flow of it being Jazzy the only one who serves. But once you saw the video, you understand that even 1 player can do it and that's INSANE !

You guys should check out MixarThe. They ran the 4 Star levels with 2 players, but I think the techniques they used could somehow be modified for 4 players. If not, then it'd still be a good reference if you guys are able to run it 2 player during Stumptmas. :D

Some other people are saying- if you were to take the ingredients to the plate rather than take the plate to the food then that would help with the problem of the plates respawning slowly, but honestly you guys did incredibly!

It may be brutal, but it's not bad design. Assuming it's impossible because you can't figure it out is really arrogant. I love you guys, and i want to see y'all succeed, but I'm sure they tested it. People in this comments section have already pointed out that taking the food to the plates would've saved you quite a bit of time, both by making plates spawn faster and doing something while awaiting their return. They're all doable, they just become a matter of team wit as well as coordination. I completely understand if Stumpt doesn't have what it takes, but it's designed fine, so don't take it out on team seventeen. I love you guys, Stumpt, and I want to see you push through to victory, maybe as a weekly series or something! That said, of course you don't have to, but it would be a GLORIOUS series, a true epic.

late, but quick tip- some levels, their timer does not start until you serve the first dish. this gives you some time to prepare alot of food. but be careful cause some food will despawn
Saw from different video how to 4 star 1-1, so not taking credit for this. But you can stack chopped fish and shrimp on the ground and place those by the serving window. Then quickly grab the ingredient, plate and serve
Those scores are insane! I looked and can't find any videos of 4 players doing 4 stars. But I did find one of a guy that got over 3600 points on single player before the 4th star was available. :o Great series! Would love to see Rik and Price try it 2 player sometime!
Watched up to 16:00 and based on what I am seeing I think what will help you get 4 Stars in that first level is to get the ingredient, then get the plate with the ingredient and then immediately deliver it. The time spent waiting for plate can be minimized like this (by spending that time after delivery to go get another ingredient).
For everyone's sanity, I actually don't want Stumpt to attempt another four star run. Especially Jas, who was close to having a nervous breakdown.

At the place of bringing the plate to the food you guys should bring the food to the plate which is right beside the delivering door
Jazzy stands direectly in the way of Price throwing the pasta into the second pot, then proceeds to patronize him saying "aww, almost." If she would have moved instead of just standing there like a dummy, he would have saved her like 3 or 4 seconds, as he would have made it.
You guys did soooo well! Maybe try to bring the food to the plate that spawn so there will be less running? Since the plates are spawning slowly
Some level the time are not ticking until you start to serve. Chop all the fish and prawn all over the floor (at least 20 for each prawn and fish) and then one person start serving and others start to chop. It not that hard 😊💪💪

Bring the fish and shrimp to the plates then deliver. It's a fraction of a second quicker.
You can google "overcooked 2 highest scores" and there should be a google documents with the leaderboards! There doesn't seem to be 4 player world records but perhaps like other comments have suggested, you could take the format and perhaps configure it to 4 players? or do 2 players? Please do a four star series if possible! Thank you (it won't let me link it in comments)
Try bringing the shrimp and the fish to the plate and then delivering. Someone can load up the dish dispenser with fish or shrimp and Jas can just grab and deliver. She won't have to move around trying to grab the right thing.

14:40 I think Jas was allowed to serve a empty plate. I didn't see anything on that plate when it was "served" and broke the combo.
Some of the levels do, I think one of the sky levels, have that thing that the counter does not start unless you send the first order up? I'm not sure if it was just one level or something. Anyways, yay for more Overcooked 2!

Actually it is very doable if you prepare 80+ chopped fish&shrimp and leave them on the ground. The only thing for everyone to do then is throwing fish/shrimp to the plate where the plate appears and make delivery. i made it 4 starts for 1-1 with 2 players

I'd love to see a 4 star run, especially if you guys could drop chopped fish and shrimp on the floor right at Jas's feet (while she's standing where the plate spawns) so she just needs to pick them up, put them on the plate when it spawns and send it out, 3300 might be possible if she doesn't run at all.

U should stack them up on the floor so 2 of u needs to do shrimp and fish and 2 serve
there are times when it's easier and faster to just bring the food to the plate counter (like what you guys did in the blimp level of versus mode) ^^
like instead of waiting for a plate, going to the food, and then serving it, you could grab the food while waiting for the plate to spawn and then place the food on the plate and serve it. :D and it doesnt matter if another plate spawns as youre placing the food bc the food will always be on the top plate.
It is possible, just take the food to the plate instead of taking the plate to the food. Jas was double backing for a short distance but in achieving 4 stars, little things matter. :)

I couldn’t begin to do four stars in single player either. I feel like this didn’t get tested to make sure it was possible. I quit trying. It became stressful and not fun. Totally understand if you guys don’t want to four star it.
I agree. There is no way the devs tested this four players. If they did, they wouldn't have set it at 3300.

4 people, 4 star is a wreck. All the people who got such high scores in 4 players are damn..... Good luck to Stumpt if they want to do 4 stars. Though I guess that they got the high score, but devs got to increased it by 10%? Damn so brutal XD
Guys you do realise the timer doesn’t start until you serve the first meal so you can just stockpile fish and shrimp and then start serving you can get over 4K with this method & without doing that it is next to impossible to get the 3300 score
Would love to see a four star run! I think you will do fine on the levels that aren't 3300!!
On the start there, I think preplating got a little hiccup on the rhythm so no preplating in the beginning, just plate the starting two orders that show up
Important note.
(Not sure if this is true in Overcooked 2 specifically.) I remember in Overcooked 1 you can fill an order out of order and get a tip bonus....
That may have been replaced by the tip chain mechanic but I'm not sure since you guys always t=do it in order.
in oc2 the tip chain mechanic is waaaay more op then any order tip bonus that you would get for filling an order out of order
It is very possible. Did it with 3 man party with a score of 3638, you just have to pre chop everything
As a speedrunner, the perfect run you need for four stars is intriguing to me.

If you do a four star series with four plays, one episode is going to be one level. That series would be the longest series you would make.
im confused, the guy who is BLUE is named Ash? and the GREEN guy is Price? and red is Jazz and yellow is rik???
People will become a legend in this game if they beat levels with 4 stars!! You just need to improve your skill at serving foods and make sure you do not lose your multiplier. Try putting the food closer to the serving area so that you can serve quickly as possible to get 4 stars.
I just finished 4-starring every level on the main world with my dad :D
So how me and my cousin did it two player we pre-cut and threw the fish up top and the shrimp down bottom and then we just went back and forth submitting the plates after we like horded and I mean HORDED like 30+ of each fish and shrimp and spend the whole time delivering by bring the fish/shrimp to the plates.

First off, to the stumpt players, not a bad shot at the 4 star goal.
Second, is it me or do I see world record and/or even competitive overcooked material with this 4 star thing?
Are you asking if with this 4 star thing there could be something like competitive overcooked and/or world record lists?
If so that is already a thing since Overcooked 1
world records yes but I dont think overcooked 1 was ever officially played competitively. :Informally, sure, but in terms of like oficial competitive play the way that Overwatch and league are done, I don't think that was done.
well of course not because 1. the playerbase for OC isnt nearly as big as OW or LOL
and 2. OW and LOL are designed to be played competitively whereas OC only potentially has this for very few players that are willing to do this.
For a game like Overcooked i believe the competitive scene that HAS BEEN going on is big enough to say that there was competitive play going on, because i wouldn't compare OC to OW or LOL in that regard
They could just drop the cut stuff on the floor and make more before the timer starts
Do 4 star mode
The game lowered the score of 1-1 to 1000 points instead of 3300. Other levels have lowered their score by alot. So it's definetley possible now, no dought.
