Delores kept the secret that she could hear Bruno in the house for 10 years but couldn't keep Mirabel's secret about the vision for the length of 1 dinner 😂😂

@@meinctutweh4103 haha she makes comments and hints after him being gone 10 years but she doesn't shout and have an outburst that he is hiding behind the walls. She only says it outright to Camilo at the end that she knew all along when Bruno is back with everyone. She shouts every detail of Mirabel's secret to the whole table only minutes after she overhears it lol it's not the same thing.

exactly! he left 10 years ago. im pretty sure she tried to tell them several times that she hears him in the walls but with abuela she wasnt encouraged to do so

@@meinctutweh4103 she clearly stated to the whole family, including Abuela, exactly what Mirabel's secret was immediately. If she had clearly said to the whole family that Bruno never left, they would know within those 10 years that he was there lol. That's all I'm getting at. Can't make assumptions, we can only go by the facts we see which is no one knew he was there except her, but when Mirabel had a secret she blurted it immediately. I just found that funny.

The movie is set in Colombia, and the experience of Abuela and her husband echoes that of a period of political unrest during the late 40s and early 50s known as La Violencia. Many citizens were forced to leave their homes (or were killed, like Abuelo Pedro) as rival factions fought with each other.

Definitely a time of civil warfare - based on not seeing radios or phones, I thought it would be more like the Thousand Days War - 1899-1903.

This movie instantly became my favorite Disney movie. So much humanity shown ,imperfect and good, and the dysfunctional family dynamics due to generational trauma from abuela. Abuela lost the love of her life and was left to raise triplets on her own WHILE the entire new town looked to her towards guidance since she got the magic candle ,the Encanto. It makes sense why she put so much pressure on her family and while that doesn’t excuse her behavior, especially towards Mirabel, we get an understanding for why she was how she was. I hope we get a sequel that explores the gift more. We saw Aunt Pepa constantly attempting to suppress her emotions in an effort to get rid of the storms and rain, Isabella was unhappy because she was trying to live up to Abuelas expectations, and Luisa believed she HAD to maintain the well-being of the town on her own because she had the physical ability to help. Then there’s the whole Bruno being shunned from the family. God I love this movie and I could talk about it for hours but this is all I will say for now

First, thanks so much for sharing your thought! Secondly, I would love a sequel focusing on Bruno and Pepa going on an adventure of sorts while they reconnect.

I was thrilled to see a new Encanto reaction in my feed this morning; I watched about a dozen last year. And then I bought the DVD. And then, of course, I had to buy something I could play play it on! 😊
You mentioned Cinderella : fun fact, the cat in Cinderella was named Bruno!
EVERYBODY becomes a Bruno fan when they see his table behind the wall.
All of the songs were written by Lin Manuel Miranda. And John Leguizamo is the voice of Bruno.
Abuelo Pedro has completely knocked Notre Dame's Phoebus out of place as my main Disney crush.

The cat in Cinderella was named Lucifer. Bruno was the dog.

It’s amazing how kids can put out a few words with absolutely no malicious intent and still cause emotional damage! It comes from being very observant and truthful but having absolutely no sense of tact!

As a girl who has ASD, I recognized myself in Mirabel because my three sisters never really accepted the fact I'm different (they don't understand according to our parents) and my parents are more worry about me.

tysm for the sub, i appreciate it 💕 Encanto rocked me in a way I did not anticipate. From Abuela’s past, to Maribel realizing her own internal beauty and then to Antonio being her moral support like she was for him at the beginning of the movie….i wanna cry all over again 😭 I don’t know how Disney keeps doing it

I forget what the first thing of yours that was suggested for me was but I watched you watch some of the Harry Potter series and all the hunger games series. I just rewatched. You watch The hunger games and I was like I can't swear I left a comment on this, but this is my favorite of the recent Disney movies. There's a lot of princess movies that I liked over the years and some other Disney movies, but this is probably my favorite Disney movie of this decade

Not only making a home, abuela had just given birth, her husband murdered in front of her, widowed and she didn't get to grieve gis husband because the people around her were already looking up to her for help,a new mother going through all that is tough, and PPD was possible in there too, which might have contributed to how she started behaving towards her family and how she felt she'd lose it all in a second
