A race horses muscles are still not fully developed. You shouldn't ride a horse until their around 4. Jockeys start riding at the age of 1 sometimes. It's cruel and can really hurt the horse. Thry hardly take care of racehorses, all that the people want is just money. They abuse the horses constantly just so that they can set a new record time. As for fallen race horses, they send to either auction or slaughter. For the has-beens they make them breed. Race horses live very short lives, very short, sad and cruel lives. I don't support horseracing, but I do support European racing because they are fair to the horses and don't abuse them.

Like secretariat was treated amazing so was American Pharoah and justify and songbird and zenyatta, and so many others who were treated how they should be but there are those ones who use drugs on them yes but there is one drug that the horses actually need so their lungs dont bleed. Not all horses are treated badly in this sport is what your saying and I understand that but there are those people who cant see past the bad and look at the good because they that's all they've ever known.

It's definitly sad, but the music really makes one nauseous as it should. **I am NOT condoning Horseracing at all, as it is a cruel sport with the stress on their young bodies and the drugs used to cover up the injuries. I just wanted to clear up Ruffians issue, and I have studied her and her lineage for a long time and I am going to say no one knows for sure what happened, but here it goes...Ruffian and Foolish Pleasure were going to participate in a normal race that's true, but when everyone dropped the owners were asked if they were willing to do a Match Race (as the fans wanted). Now the theories are she hit her shoulder or leg on the gate, she got spooked by the birds = miss step, or her own body weight crushed her leg. By looking at her sire Reviewer his foals and his pedigree have an issue called "soft-boned." Reviewer like Ruffian broke down, he broke down 3x while racing and the fourth while at stud in his pasture. Ruffian is sure to have this problem has she had obtained several hair-line fractures during her short career of 10 completed starts. This is my theory on why she broke down on her 11th race coupled with the weight of the body and the strain of the match race. She final was euthanized when she woke up from surgery and broke her other leg (like her dam Shenanigans did from her own surgery years later). With her death, medicine and racing (sort of) became safer. Match Races because illegal immediately and when waking up from anesthesia they place the horses in pools of water with floating devices around them (if the hospital can afford it) decreasing the risk of further injury during a delirious state.
