Great to see you back on the road Pedro. Alp looks AMAZING, landscape is epic and I wish you have a great time and good luck! As Vic said, keep the shiny side up!
Glad to see you were able to get going again. Sorry to see tire gave you issues. Hope that it ends up easy fix. Love seeing the world through your journeys:)
Nice filming! Everytime i watch your videos, i want to go riding. I think for the summer i will go to mongolia and make a few videos there. thanks to you!
@2:15...what a fucking Sweet Ride! LOVE the paint scheme.....because Red rocks, waaaay before Ferrari! Pedro, I'm 62- a longtime rider- and you've inspired me to hit the road- my first adventure bike ever.....still in the planning stages, Life gear changes, etc.- but, ON the burner. @10:10....broken clips: don't use Plastic. Go w/ metal clamps with "teeth"- that ratchet. They can handle the strain of off road and weight re-distributions easily. @12:28....flat tire. TUBELESS baby; Only way to go. Nothing to patch; no tires to take off. GOLD+.
Hey Pedro, you should look into some Cam straps to hold the luggage down. They use them alot in boating. The good is they dont come loose and stay snug through the rough stuff.
I think Vic's backstory would have been quite interesting. Did you just meet him out of the blue or had you known him before? He sounds like one of the stars of your story.
We started talking at a little motorcycle shop and was ready to leave the next day. Ended up staying weeks for the work on the bike and the family situation which unfolded. Life on the road can be funny like that. Vic's one of those rough Canadian boys with a background in mining and oil who's been working in Chile for years.
Because they are shit. No real adventurer has alu panniers. Too much weight and they are a huge hazard when riding off-road they can break your leg. Also Metal panniers don't provide any security as it's just basic bicycle locks on the locking mechanisms. They also carry less than a soft bag since a soft bag can fit awkward shapes etc where a metal pannier is just a box. Also metal pannier tend to crack sub frames which is a huge problem in the middle of nowhere to fix. Also they tend to hold liquids like if you have a spill in a crossing it will fill with water since no box is 100% waterproof. Also the fact that the boxes take space themselves where you could have mounted a flat water/fuel container etc etc I can go on and on for a very long time on why they are bad to use.
15:17 not sure if the tire was properly mounted...when you spin the wheel you can see clearly the uneven rotation of the tire...which could turn out not a good thing on road at high speed.
Oh man, sorry for the flat tire, if it makes you feel any better I've the same tool bag as u hahahah got from stationary shop for usd1 hahah. Shinko r great tires I run 705 does great on/off road. Keep it up 💪 my friend
I am asking myself, why you do not go for tubeless tires, bcs a repair on the road takes maybe 20 mins and you save weight... The downside is that Ou need different rims first :)
Yeah, maybe. One of the reasons I kept green in the scheme during the rebuild since it does say green on the paperwork. Hope to be able to wing it if ever does become an issue at a border though as long as the frame numbers etc. match all should be good I imagine. Cheers!
hey bro, how does it work leaving the bike in a country with the carnet? I've read that there's nothing on the passport so you can just leave? have to leave mine in Thailand
Not sure, will depend per country. In Chile I temporarily transferred the bike on to someone else's name when I left. There have been cases of people leaving without doing that and no hassle but there have also been people who where stopped at customs. It's in the system, there the vehicle is connected to your name. I lost my temporary import document during my last days in Chile and they only let me out of the country because all the info was in the system too (lucky). Some countries are more difficult than others but usually as long as you're back in the country while the import document is valid. Carnet could be different but I returned mine when I got to South America. Check online for more info and experiences.
But the job got done without without those, though I doubt there's a better tire lever than "the hand of god". Btw a centre stand would have been completely destroyed in some of the places I've ridden this bike and could have gotten me stuck in dangerous situations. Low clearance bike and one of the centre stand attachment points has been completely deformed by impacts.
Pedro Mota is becoming my favorite Adventure channel. This guy is GOOD.

are you really lubing the chain from the outside? dude! Anyway, I'm glad to see that you're comfortable with a few setbacks. Always look forward :)
Mooi dat je weer aan het rijden bent P
Nice to see you riding again.

Oh my those last few minutes most beautiful part of the video!
good stuff! Just a thing the protection mask you are using for painting is useless, those filters you have on it, the p100 are for dust not vapor...
Great episode... I like your stuff! ;-)

Damnn! Alp is looking fantastic!!!
Cheers Maxi, hope you kicking ass in Oz.

Hell ya, ghetto tool bag squad! Got mine at the Chinese store, also packing spares and other bits in those, handy as.
You do not disappoint on the adventure front Amigo, And you can wrench? Yea!
I am asking myself, why you do not go for tubeless tires, bcs a repair on the road takes maybe 20 mins and you save weight... The downside is that Ou need different rims first :)
Stay safe brother
Transalp had been for me an ugly motorbike.
Had been... not any longer.
Very nice mods on yours.
Cheers mate
Well done video mate... Just maybe you make a video of all the faces of your bike Alp from the footages you have, that would be cool, really.
sunset behind you is awesome!!,how big is that gas tank?,i know original is not big enoutgh for a long range
24 liter Africa Twin tank, original was 18
Why do you have dutch plate? Are you from the Netherlands?
Yes
@@iPedroMota Your name sounds kind of Spanish though...
When you buy fuel do you just use Visa?
When I can yes. Part convenience, but especially useful in countries where pulling cash from the ATM costs money.
Pedro...you need a center stand for the bike to make fixing flats easier.
The bike is amazing! But doesn't it bring you some legal questions, changing colors? :* Ride safe!

805 cheap and good i run it on my at and u lube the chain from in side not out side
Tool tip: To get the rear tire off the ground, one can use Tirox Snap Jack.
or just get a center stand like a normal person.
Kazy Kamakaze But then there are people like me, who don't aspire to be normal … 🤷🏼♂️
What year is your bike?
That’s big work, cool vids

Thanks for the reply and the info man!! Really appreciate it
Hi how many km. Made on this transalp engine ?
Around 150k did a rebuild, rear cilinder was just out of tolerance, front just within, eating a lot of oil. Now about 180k.
@@iPedroMota thanks! Keep going with grate videos
Great doing.....Enjoy
Lol, Vic the Canadian gave you a little bit of a yupper accent. He’s got you saying aboot instead of about.
K.B.O!
👍🎈
keep it up body.
...did you mean 'buddy'? :)
For the sake of all that is holy, buy a bloody centre stand. And a proper set of tyre tools.

@@iPedroMota How much weight are you carrying mate?
20/25kg, she doesn't bottom out anymore though with the progressive shock spring. Forgot to mentions weight, centre stand ads another 5kg or so.
Lasted less than 2 minutes because of your buddies language. Doesn't impress me.
