Having built model aircraft most of my life (I'm 85), I can appreciate the skill and workmanship this model reveals. This is an incredible project and the fact that it flies so well is a tribute to its builder and the Horten design.
@@stevennagley3407 flying wings tend to suffer from 'lateral instability', in some modern aircraft such as the 'stealth aircraft' that has been overcome by the use of computer 'fly by wire' systems but this is done because 'stealth' issues are taking precedence over aerodynamics. Otherwise for purely aerodynamic reasons 'flying wings' have problems & so aircraft are not built to that 'plan'.
@@pcka12 you say flying wings have problems and the only conclusive information you have is “lateral instability” the f-16 was built conventional and have you seen the first ever documented test flights of the f-16 the pilots were struggling to keep that jet stable on landing and take off that was in the early first years of the f-16 then later a fly by wire system was introduced to combat it and add ‘stability’ or tame down the flight characteristics… you mention a problem all airframes have had issues with, I could give you another example with the f-117, I can even explain to you the bell shaped span load distribution laws on flying wings with gives it stability in all axis of flight…. Your just throwing stuff out there you even mentioned bad upon a delta wing, I’m confused am I talking to a bot?
@@aviationcz It's gratifying to see more people interested in the Horton Brothers aircraft designs. They may have been a part of that rotten regime, but there's no denying they were designed geniuses, who were far ahead of their time. You did a beautiful job of recreating that particular sail plane. Congratulations!
That model is an absolute marvel. Like the big size , the scale timber sheet cover and how well it flies. I am a big fan of the Horten Brothers and got 3 books about them. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful plane. Makes my scratch built planes look like toys. By the way the opening music was fabulous. First time I liked any background music in a video, too many heavy metal or punk rock fans in video production....
Beautiful model and excellent flier. I have a Horten 229 which flies great but it goes thru 2 X 6S 7K lipo's in 4 minutes. This glider looks majestic and provides a very long flight. were could I get the kit or plans>
That Plane is TOO NICE to be flying ! Well Done !! I do want You to remove the lower wheel. Make a New lighter one and hang that Beauty in Your living room to enjoy. I build smaller ones out of Dollar tree foam board and Walmart carbon arrows (EXTREMELY Lite). I am going to build one almost that size thanks to Your video. It will be CRAZY lite and fly for hours if I power it for a few seconds at a time like You did !

Hi I am currently building same model . Approximately how much tension did you have on the Bungee for your 7.6kg model. How much travel (throws) did you use on the elevons for your maiden flight. Thanks
Hi Ron, I had around 45 degrees of throw in my elevons. I used a lot of expo on them. Regarding the bungee. I don't know how much tension I had. I held mine to launch, which is not the best idea! I would guess the tension was at least 25kg or more. I couldn't hold more tension and the plane safely!

Absolutely impressive! Directional stability without a tail!!
lovely model!
Bravo magnifique Horten !
Beautiful model excellent craftsmanship very nice flyer
Glad you like it
That is a work of ART! Absolutely gorgeous build. Walter and Reimar would be proud!
Nice bird ! That's good to know there are still modelers doing clever modeling at the moment. Great wood assembly job, very neat and well thought.
Many thanks!
Beautiful wing, great job building. Thank you.
Cool wing
Такую технически грамотную и качественно изготовленную модель такого типа. Респект автору.
The propeller drive system !!! What a marvel of engineering execution !
Flight was magnificent !!!
Lieta krásne, majestátne . Pozor na pád do vývrtky.
If we could have put the Horton brothers and Northrop together instead of against each other can you imagine what could have been produced
An aircraft which went no further?
There has to be a reason that whilst delta wings have been successful, flying wings haven't!
@@pcka12what are you smoking dude?
And btw, the us government recovered a Horten 229 to research which led up to the the American designs just fyi

Beautiful work! No nose skid though. Would have made the landing a little more gentle.

Great model! No dihedral on Horten III?
Dude that is totally sic ! can you share what wing foil you uses like a NACA profile ? ty
If I saw that in the sky, I'd be looking on the ground for the pilot 😅.

I my mind you need a slidebar ... the landing seems painfull😔

It didn't disappoint! Really nice machine!
Does it roll to the right under full power?
Missed

No gyro.
Why can't the flaps be arranged close to the fuselage?

prop is Noisy.! and should not be
Different model horten had jets. This one had a propeller.
Replied to different comment, sorry! 😄
Propellers on the trailing edge are always noisy, like Rutan Varieze, Piaggio Avanti, or any pusher version engine...

Suuuper Flug 👍 wunderschönes Flugbild. Einfach nur Toll
Sometimes hard to know if it's coming or going!
Very well done! Seems to was a lot of work.
But it should hav had jet engines!!
