I went back and saw the video from 2 years go about the camper. You did an amazing job on fixing it up, it will be ok to just let it go and keep the little house part for a guest house. People today don’t understand when you come from hard times it’s not easy to turn you back and let it go so easily. My husband has a daughter who has an autistic son. He’s 23 now last summer was his first summer not in school. I BELIVE they have put him in adult daycare during the day while they work. Give yourself grace Kim, you are only human and we’re not built to take that much stress. I cared for both my parent and my mother in law alone! ( it’s not easy ) don’t ever feel guilty, your blessed and a God send to Levi. 🥰 I enjoyed the long video.

I can totally relate to needing a break. I raised my grandson as my own and there were times I just wanted to breathe……. I love him so much but when he was little it was hard. ❤❤❤ We do what the Lord gives us to do ❤️❤️🙏🏼

I can absolutely relate to needing a break to clear your head !! My husband has dementia and I’m with him 24/7 !! My garden is my sanctuary !! In the winter, I read, crochet or quilt to keep myself busy . I also get the feeling of guilt when I take a minute break for “me” .
God bless you and Levi !! I enjoy your videos and watch every single one !!
    Love you girl !! ❤

The camper cottage is so cute. I so understand having to get a little break, I worked with special needs kids and on rough days I would remind myself that parents have it many more hours than I did. Some days are harder than others and you sometimes you just need to step back for a few minutes

My goodness that camper is a calm, cool and tranquil spot 🥰. When I saw the little steps up to the beautiful bed I immediately thought “What a great place for an afternoon nap!” I completely understand your reluctance to part with it 😢. Having cared for both parents with Dementia I understand the need for a bolt hole, the noise, never ending needs, relentless problems and devastating lows meant time out was the only thing that kept me sane after 7 years without a break!
I think you’re right to give it to a good home where it will be cared and make the other rooms into your new bolt hole 😊

Kim, you worked hard on that camper and it was a haven for many people in your family so no wonder it is hard for you to let it go. It has also been a refuge for you when you have been so stressed out well while caring for Levi. I worked as a therapist. with autistic children for 20 years, and I know how difficult it is for parents to be with autistic children 24 seven year in year out without a break. They need respite and it is really available to them. That camper afforded you small mini breaks of just half an hour to take a moment to gather your thoughts and take a breath. It was your refuge place of peace in in times of turmoil and chaos. So of course it is hard to get rid of it. But times change and things go on and the future looks bright. So it’s time to let go and make room for the new and that is exciting. Take the future with both hands like you do with everything Kim. You are a force to be reckoned with an amazing woman, so strong and resourceful. Nothing can stand in your way when you put your mind to something and you can do anything you want so make plans and go forward and life will be great. I wish you well.❤❤❤🙌🏻

I think you should get the tires fixed and keep it. You need a place for respite. As someone who is totally alone caring for a spouse with mild dementia , i feel your pain of not having that place to go to calm your mind. I think you could fix it up and keep it. Its too cute to get rid of.

When you describe your short time away from Levi, the word you're looking for is 'respite.' I was a respite care worker and stayed with elderly people while the family that took care of them went on weekend vacations. Yes, you need that time for you to recharge. A camper attached to a she shed is genius! ❤

I did the same thing. It was actually through Conroe ISD I was put in touch with a couple families for me to do respite care while they went on vacation because their family members were more comfortable at home and with a routine. I enjoyed it. Today I work as an autism coach and I wouldn't mind doing respite care through the summer but I Don't think this school district has that program. I live near Bastrop now.

thanks for showing us the camper. It is cute and I can understand your attachment and hesitation to part with it. No one knows what your life is like as a single mom to a grown child with autism. Others may be in what appears to be the "same" situation, but in reality, all situations are different, because people differ and their disabilities differ as well. You do an incredible job with Levi and you are a wonderful mom to him. That is an accomplishment in and of itself! May God bless you and Levi!

Such a cute little camper! Years ago, when my girls were growing up, my Mom had a camper that was parked at a permanent campground. She didn’t live there but, It was only about an hour away, so she would go down on the weekends sometimes, just for a quick get-away. We would spend a lot of time there with her. There were lots of other family members and friends whom also had campers there. I think her camper was made back in the 50’s and aesthetically, it reminds me so much of your camper. She would put a single red brick on one of the burners, turn it on low and it would heat the whole camper. She eventually had a screened in deck built on and I can’t tell you how much fun we had! We would eat out there, watch tv and play endless games into the night! I remember once we were playing games and eating snacks on the deck when it was announced over the radio that Princess Diana was killed😓 It was so sad and the mood became very somber. Anyhow, I digress. My Mom also had a fire pit next to the camper with colorful string lights hung around the area. There was also a nice swimming pool at this campgrounds, which was wonderful in the Summertime! I remember one year at Easter time, we were coloring Easter eggs, had a fire going in the fire pit and had Sam Cooke playing on the cassette player!🥰🥰🥰 Between smell of the wood smoke, the sounds of the wood crackling, the birds singing, the music playing and my girls laughing and having fun, there was such a great vibe happening in those woods!! Memories that will last a lifetime!! Thank you for triggering such a great time in my life!❤

We live in a 5th wheel for 9 months of the year. We winter in southern Georgia and live in Ohio in a house that we had built 37 yrs ago. We have met so many people that have sold EVERYTHING and live on the road in their rv’s. One of those people said to me you need to sell everything like we did, just get rid of it all. I absolutely would never do that, I love my house and I love my stuff so I understand how you feel. Kim you are so inspiring, I don’t know how you do all you do…I’m 75 and used to have energy to do lots more than I do now. I have and autistic nephew who is now 45, so I have a glimpse of what you have to live with. Luckily they were able to get him an apartment in a building with other disabled people. Who knows, that camper could still help future people like grandkids, nieces and nephews. You do what you want in the time you want to do it.

Kim, give yourself some grace. All caregivers need a break sometimes. My daughter is a caregiver for her disabled hubby. There's times she has to get away, or she'll blow sky high . You have to have breaks! No one blames you at all for needing breaks.

Good morning Kim. As you speak, a song is playing in my head. Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman". The lyrics "If I have to, I can do anything. I am strong.
I am invincible. I am woman." You are her and so much more. God Bless.❤

You should rent it out or hang on to it for Caden. He is getting to that age now. Love your ability to build and fix things. I always think of you when I think of fixing up something. “I know Kim would know what to do to fix that” 😊❤

Kim, you made that such a cute home for so many people in need plus yourself I can see you having to think about getting rid of it. I love the tiny house idea but I also think with flooding and everything else do you need to or just fix the camper back up? You will make the best decision

Being a caretaker is one of the hardest jobs out there. Doesn't matter if it's your grown son, aging parents, or whomever. I hope you never feel guilty for taking care of yourself. You can't take care of Levi if you aren't taking care of yourself.

That is much nicer then I thought. It seems it would have been a nice place for someone to stay in during the flood, or any situation.

The way you've talked about it, I would've thought it to be a cluttered mess. I would let it go though. Before I sold my house I had to put some stuff in storage for showings then after awhile I was like what did I miss, just my Christmas stuff the rest I mostly put in a yard sale. Seems like everyone over there has a spare kitchen and bathroom, but I get it having a room to go to take a breath is nice.

That place is cute. You should rent it out for a side income.
