Thanks for this making video! I tried all searching over Google and there are tons of dumb things out there that don't make sense. This is a very helpful video for what I needed!

@ 4:55 I was thinking "Man, the way he's written that 842 looks more like 892", then later on when you're doing the calculation @ 6:12 , you thought it was 872 ;P
Good example of why it pays to write clearly and double check your workings.

Yes, the struggle is real. And for my calculation.. Coffee first.

Finding the chart is the hard thing. I have wire I need to measure since the guage is not listed in my wiring diagram. It's so frustrating.

You did all that measuring to come up with 20.5 and 22.5, respectively. Yet, both wires state 20 gauge. What's your point? Are you saying that what's on the wire isn't always accurate or that your math was wrong? If I wanted that same wire, which would be correct?

I'm curious did the difference in the gauge really cause what you were using the wire for to not work or have a adverse effect on it?

It quite possibly could have caused some issues with my pixels. The bigger issue

Was that some suppliers advertised 18awg, and it was 21 Awg.

Is there no faster way? It sounds like a PITA.

I suppose for larger diameter cable, you could approximate it. If you want accuracy.....

@@pauldoyley8354 Yeah I get it - but you'd think the standard would have been setup differently.

I used this calculation back in the 90's when buying spools of wire for automotive use. I found that buying good 14ga wire measured 14ga. Buying cheap 14ga wire measured 15ga. So it really does make sense to verify what's printed on it.
