The song at the end just brought me to tears as the Lord broke my heart to let Him rule and fix my heart. Keith and Melody's songs still minister today. Praise Jesus for His touch.

"I've Got to get the church saved, the're not believing what they are saying." Such a difference from what the majority of churches are teaching today. watching Keith sing still brings tears to my eyes. I am so glad I had the honor to see him several times. He really is missed

Right. As Melody said, the message to the church today is still the same: repent and stop playing games with God.

I was at that concert at Jesus NW that year right up front under the stage & Keith's message was precisely what I was longing to hear. His words that one night changed my life spiritually. I had always had a heart for God but my soul caught fire through that message!! I still remember where I was when I heard of his death. He is missed by many but the message is still the same. It is our job to continue in his stead as Melody is doing today. Blessings on her, her girls & their ministries.

Truly, Keith was a gifted man of God and he sang like no other Christian has ever sung before or after. His words were always so penetrating. I still listen to his music today. His music is so impacting. He is so missed.

I was a new Christian in 1985 and went with my church from AZ to CA to see Jesus West Coast. It was the first and last time I saw Keith Green in concert. I loved his music because it resonated with me and where I was at. So many miracles and ways that God showed up in my early walk. I loved and lost and started writing poetry that God gave me and inspired in me during the pain.
Over the years life has gotten in the way and my journey in the desert began. I never stopped believing but I did not trust. I am now back on the path and reaching out to God, learning to trust Him again. This walk back into the music from my early years reminds me of how important it is to keep that connection to the source of life. Without God and that connection I feel empty and lost. I get my energy and strength from my Abba...the King of Kings and Creator of the Universe. My one true love. 🙏

Dear Melody, We ( me and Catja ) also have a ministry in the Netherlands ( "Return to the Lord") , and we are doing the things you actually also are doing. Our focus is the same as yours and we are trying to reach the lost. We both are not Jewish, but our approach is Jewish since I have learnt this from a Jewish landlord for whom I have taken care for before he died. He also was a fan of Keith Green, as I am still now.

He draws people to the real Jesus and His Truth and Love. Try to listen to all the songs you can that he performs. His wife Melody also writes songs...this one he sang was soooo beautiful. Thank you Lord for people LIVING Christ out in this sleepy world. Please Heavenly Father raise up more like Kieth and Melody Green. I am so proud of Melody.

When someone like Keith Green dies, many people fail to realize that God didn't NEED Keith Green, but rather was using Keith. God could have raised up a rock or a donkey to do what Keith was doing. The death of a person, no matter how important we think they are, does not stop God from completing his plan of glorifying his son.

+Juan5826 Hi Juan. It's tempting to compare ourselves to others, good or bad, but God has a special place and ministry for each and every one of us. If we do even more than what He wills, we are just as out of His will as if we hadn't done enough! Check out Psalm 139 if you don't already know it. :)

    • @Johnpm777
      @Johnpm777 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+Waya Askin I agree with you. I really didn't mean it that way. We shouldn't compare ourselves to others. I feel like sharing and I don't know you. Let me ask you, If you are of the world and look at the church... What do you see?

    • @WayaAskin
      @WayaAskin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Oh Juan, what a sad question, and it shouldn't be. I think they see religion: mere ritual with nothing behind it; I think they see hypocrisy, greed, worldliness. The Word tells us to love one another with the love He modeled for us so the world would know He lives, so they can see reality. Thank you for sharing with me. We'll know one another when we arrive Home. :)

Of course Keith was a man of faith, a man after God's own heart, and on a mission that most of us will never come near to it's impact on the world. His death was tragic and devastating for many people, and almost crippling to his wife. He died at the ripe young age of 28, interestingly enough the same age as Jim Elliot (two heroes of 20th Century Christianity in my opinion), who was killed with four others in Ecuador in the 50's trying to reach a savage tribe of Quechua Indians, and who also had a ministry that was reaching the world for Christ.
Jim once wrote in his journal: "I must not think it strange whom God takes in youth those I would've left on earth until they were much older. God is busy peopling eternity, and I must not restrict Him to old men and women."
The impact of both men lives on. In song, and in words. Both of their wives went on to hugely impact society with their testimony of strength and steadfast love and faith, showing the world the love of Christ in spite of their pain and sorrow. Their ministries grew, and their work as missionaries and speakers brought untold people to Christ, and glory to God. Truth is, God is bigger than any one life -- no matter how big the impact we think they both of these men could've made if they lived longer -- and His work on earth continues through all the pain and suffering.
Elisabeth Elliot had a huge impact on my life as an new Christian in the 90's talking about Jim and writing about his ministry and his unmatched zeal for Jesus Christ. Jim and Keith were both one of a kind, true 'giants of the faith', but there is only one Jesus Christ, and somehow I believe He can accomplish His plan for mankind without any of us who admire and love both of them.

Keith Green and his some of his small childrens' death was a very big shock to everyone in the Jesus Movement and Charismatic Movement in 1982. No one but Almighty God knows why He allowed Keith and his children to die in this horrific way - a plane crash - eleven on board. People have criticised Melody for living off Keith's recordings. Yet Melody has kept Keith's ministry alive, and they were partners in God, so they saw their efforts as a family and a ministry thing. In this way, the ministry was Melody's as well as her husbands. Keith Green's songs still bless and inspire me 35 years after his death and 40 years since I first heard them on vinyl in New Zealand in the late 70s - so far from California and America. I'd rather concentrate on Keith's legacy and musical gifts to mankind, by the Holy Spirit, than dwell on Keith's faults. He was only in his 20s when he was so famous, and how many of us have it all together as Christians that young - and with so much pressure on our lives as he had. And how many stay humble? Keith seems humble from what I've observed in his performances. The legacy of Keith Green is a time when God poured out his Holy Spirit in the Jesus Movement and the Charismatic Movement, and Keith Green was part of that. In the sense that we are still blessed and inspired by Keith's singing and piano playing, his ministry lives on.

God gave us all Free will and God allows what WE allow. People make mistakes and Keith and the Pilot allowed the plane to be overloaded. We can't blame God. We have authority over evil and so many mistakes have been made when we don't listen to the Holy Spirit such as when we violate things such as the laws of gravity.

There weren't many true prophetic voices back then in the 70's. Even in the midst of the Jesus Movement and all the revival that was going on. It was primarily a evangelical and social transformation time in the church for the most part. Sad part about his passing was his voice was silenced when it was needed the most. The start of the free wheeling Reagan era when the American church took a nose dive into materialism and excess that we have never quite recovered from.

It's really hard to feel alone as a dedicated believer. You can keep trying, keep praying, and get to a point where you do something out of anger, and just have to serve the LORD in a different way or location. My rather prodigal kids married people who are now believers, but their in- laws aren't interested in God . It took years for my kids cto realize they should start attending church again, and I am tired, a couple years after their spouses accepted Christ

@Domodeath I was not placing Keith Green above God in my personal hierarchy of love and devotion. I was only stating that through his uncompromising and unrelenting desire to speak the truth in love and spread the good news of the gospel, he gave me a better understanding of how to live my life as a Christian. Also, fortunately, Christ will be my judge as to whether I am "truly saved", not you.

...Through all our trials we have a never-failing Helper. He does not leave us alone to struggle with temptation, to battle with evil, and be finally crushed with burdens and sorrow. Though now He is hidden from mortal sight, the ear of faith can hear His voice saying, *"Fear not; I am with you." "I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore." "I have endured your sorrows, experienced your struggles, encountered your temptations. I know your tears; I also have wept. The griefs that lie too deep to be breathed into any human ear, I know. Think not that you are desolate and forsaken. Though your pain touch no responsive chord in any heart on earth, look unto Me, and live. "The mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee."*

      *Footprints in the Sand*
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one.
During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of footprints, so I said, "You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?"
The Lord replied, *"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you."*

Counsel to One Who Had Lost Self-respect
Jesus loves you, and He has given me a message for you. His great heart of infinite tenderness yearns over you. He sends you the message that you may recover yourself from the snare of the enemy. You may regain your self-respect. You may stand where you regard yourself, not as a failure, but as a conqueror, in and through the uplifting influence of the Spirit of God. Take hold of the hand of Christ, and do not let it go.

*Wilt Thou not give evidence of Thy working?*
      He will hear and answer.
      par. 3
      Signs of the Times
      February 14, 1906
      *Trusting Christ*
The Saviour knows that in humanity we shall find no solace for our woe, and He pities us because we are so needy, and yet so unwilling to make Him our confidant, our burden-bearer. Of the poor, fainting soul, tired of looking to humanity only to be betrayed and forgotten, Christ says, *“Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me.”* -Isaiah 27:5
      par. 1
Do not take your sorrows and difficulties to man. Present yourself to Him who is able to do *“exceeding abundantly.”* (Ephesians 3:20). He knows just how to help you. Do not turn from the loving, compassionate Redeemer to human friends, who, tho they may give you the best they have, may lead you into wrong paths. Take all your troubles to Jesus. He will receive and strengthen and comfort you. He is the great Healer of all maladies. His great heart of infinite love yearns over you. He sends you the message that you may recover yourself from the snare of the enemy. You may regain your self-respect. You may stand where you regard yourself, not as a failure, but as a conqueror, in and through the uplifting influence of the Spirit of God.
      par. 2
There are many who live under such a pressure of worry that they taste but little of the sweetness of God's love. They do not know the meaning of the words, *“That My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”*
-John 15:11. Let us do our best, and then leave everything in the hands of the Lord, saying, I believe Thy promises. *Wilt Thou not give evidence of Thy working?*
      He will hear and answer.
      par. 3
*“All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”* -Matthew 21:22 These words are the pledge that all that an omnipotent Saviour can bestow will be given to those who trust in Him. As stewards of the grace of heaven, we are to ask in faith, and then wait trustingly for the salvation of God. We are not to step in before Him, trying in our own strength to bring about that which we desire. In His Name we are to ask, and then we are to act as if we trusted His efficiency.
      par. 4
We lose many blessings by failing to bring our needs and cares and sorrows to our Saviour. He is the wonderful Counsellor. He looks upon His church with intense interest, and with a heart full of tender sympathy. He enters into the depth of our necessities. But our ways are not always His ways. He sees the result of every action, and He asks us to trust patiently in His wisdom, not in the supposedly-wise plans of our own making.
      par. 5
Lay all your plans at the feet of the Redeemer. And do not cease to pray. If the answer tarry, wait for it. Let your importunate prayers continue to ascend to God. If it be for His name's glory, the soothing words will be spoken, *“Be it unto thee according to thy word.”-Matthew 15:28*
      par. 6
We do not depend on God as we should. Let us leave unsaid every word of complaint. Talk faith and courage. Be afraid to doubt, lest this become a habit that will destroy faith. The dealings of Providence may seem dark and mysterious and unexplainable; nevertheless we are to trust in Him, saying, *“I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.”* -2 Timothy 1:12. Whatever may be your circumstances, however dark and mysterious may seem the ways of Providence, tho your path may lead through deep waters, and trial and bereavement may afflict you again and again, the assurance is still yours, *“All things work together for good to them that love God.”*
      -Romans 8:28
      par. 7
Do not let Satan accomplish his purpose to keep you in the chamber of darkness and shadow, where the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness do not penetrate. Dwelling in the darkness, your beliefs will be tinged with gloom and your hopes buried in the night. The Lord bids you look up, saying, *O God, here I am; do unto me as seemeth good to Thee. Use me in Thy service. I will no longer make my life an affliction to myself and to others. I will not shun the cross, or refuse to take up the work that Thou hast bidden me do. I am Thine. I will no longer sit in sackcloth and ashes. I will come out of the darkened chamber of death into the upper room, which is filled with the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness.*
      par. 8
⁴ “Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.”
      *-Psalm 30:4*
² “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.
³ Know ye that the Lord He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
⁴ Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
⁵ For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.
      *-Psalm 100:2-5*

What a very talented and Man of God Keith was!

It really makes me sick when ppl try to blame God for death! There were children on that plane also!!! Werent there 8 children! God is not going to kill anybody!! What is so wrong with saying...I DONT KNOW to a question!! Are people afraid of their stupid reputation, afraid to say theres something they dont know?? I remember my son saying, when he was a small child, that one thing he really liked about me was....if i didnt know the answer to something,I would say I dont know!! Even then though I didnt realize how few people would admit that truth!! And the older I get the more I see it!

Right, God doesn't kill the very people He gave life to...the plane was overloaded, too much weight and taking off in the heat...I used to have a plane...it was a bad decision/mistake on the pilot and Keith's part...no blame I have done things that seemed like fun but by the grace of God did not end in death...the music and ministry God gave Keith is still witnessing to the generations, I myself was touched by it in the 70's, he was the real deal...

Don't put God in a box. Who are we as mere humans to spout an answer from God's mouth? He alone gives life and takes it away. Hence, being READY IN SEASON AND OUT. Repent!
