    Hi Deb. I would like more lessons on jump turns as I'd like to be able to do some backcountry this coming winter! This video is very helpful.

    You are a very good instructor. I learned how to ski in the '70s. Had I known some of your concepts, I would have accelerated by not trying to figure things out by myself.

    Well done Deb. There are many parts of this drill that relate to mogul skiing as well.

      I didn't until a recent video in which Deb showed a gold medal. Although I've subscribed to this channel for at least 2 years and learned a lot. Deb, you are absolutely the best ski instructor on TH-cam. Thank you for all the videos!

    Let me tell you that often experienced skiers rotate their hips together with the legs but they keep the shoulders forward in order to try to make the separation. .

    I was born with a club foot but will give this a try. Got some new wider skiis and struggled on the steep turns so far. Any advice for someone with a weaker side/foot than the other, but still wants to attack the mtn like a pro?

    • @DebArmstrongSkiStrong
      @DebArmstrongSkiStrong  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, keep at it!!! try not judging yourself. Love it up. No specific exercises to suggest. Get those turns really dialed in before progressing to steeper terrain. You won't learn better skills in the steeps. learn on the easier terrain. push yourself on the steeper terrain. then go back to the easier terrain to practice more. back and forth between the two. Have fun!!!!!

    Would you recommend to loose the top buckle just a little bit so the kids can more easily do the hop turn with skies on?

    • @DebArmstrongSkiStrong
      @DebArmstrongSkiStrong  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hum, not sure. However I have worked with many kids ski boots to soften them. Problems of a boot that is too stiff are more significant than a boot that is too soft.

      @@DebArmstrongSkiStrong no one ever talks about pushing off with the uphill ski. This also teaches early weight transfer to the new ski. On the flats where you are demonstrating pushing of with both skis will work. But on steeper terrain most students will try pushing off with the down hill ski because that's what they have been taught up to this point. I meant no disrespect but I have personally seen students hurt their backs trying hop turns the wrong way.

    • @DebArmstrongSkiStrong
      @DebArmstrongSkiStrong  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@donaldfiesta8666 Finding the uphill foot as you mention for early weight transfer is a fundamental in skiing. That is a preasure move and in my view pressure makes the other skills of rotary and edging better. For the purposes of this particular video, an intro to hop turns, I do not feel your emphasis is necessary. In this video I highlight the fundamental movements to be successful with a basic hop turn on basic terrain. Nuanced movement adjustments for various situations, and more advanced mechanics for situational skiing is not the intention here.
