- Aight Analysts, this week I had the opportunity to sit down with Yelawolf. His newest release "War Story" and "Trunk Muzik 4Ever" are out now, so check them out if you missed it. In this conversation we talk about him being the innovator in this newest wave of country rap crossovers, the impact he had on artists like Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, and Jelly Roll, and more. In a particularly revealing moment, he describes what he learned culturally from his clash with Royce Da 5'9.

31:00 for the Royce portion
Thank you
Never understood why people cared so much about an explanation because they both just went on and made peace with eachother.
This is great. Much appreciated on conducting and sharing. Yela always grinding - putting in the work. Looks like the same day Yela did his interview with B-Real. Love this.
Dare He Go✌️
Thanks for the wonderful interview.
Appreciate you Slum!
Gettin It⚡️🐺⚡️
I wish more artist had that outlook on what he said about not trying to appeal the masses, create what it is you as an artist wants. I have no loved every single Yelawolf album but I’ve always checked for his albums and still enjoy his story telling.
I understand how it can sound like a diss if someone said “ they sleeping on you” but as a fan it’s just a shocker to see people like clones of him but not the source
Mad respect. Never be afraid to try something different.
It’s an album to take a drive to.
Great interview. Enjoyed this a lot.
🔥Great interview.
Thank yoU!
Yelawolf is very underrated, a lot of raps can go over your head
Yelawolf makes some pleasing sounding music. And hes a incredible rapper.
Great Muzik makes sense on MY playlist!! Trunk or Michael Wayne! MIX IT UP... Let's GO!
The way Justin approached the question about Royce was pretty impressive. Great interview overall.
Thank you.
war story is dope as hell
I've been listening to Yelawolf for about 15 years now, but wasn't feeling a lot of this album. Now that he says it started out as two different albums makes sense.
its a double album
At first I was liking it, but when I compare it to love story or trunk muzik returns or ghetto cowboy, it sounds a bit hollow. War story would be more enjoyable if he cut at least 10 songs. He got some good songs on there though.
Too much singing
He is telling a story in this album ❤️🔥
@@bluu_ice6554 Exactly.
Love how in depth this is about the music. The interviewer mentioned things I’d never noticed and was very well prepared!
Better put some respect on Justin’s name!
Great interview Justin. I am definitely one of the people Yela speaks on where I grew into liking things I previously brushed off. If you speak to Jude, tell him we miss him and hope he is well.
I'll let him know. Thanks for the comment!
@@TheCompanyMan I miss the breakdowns you did on the show. I saw your name on the segment which got me watching the all out show in 2017. It was around the time kanye visited trump and wore the hat. Jude was talking about scenarios where it's ok to hit a woman. One of the funniest things I've ever heard. Hope you are well.
Yelawolf definitely pioneered the “hick-hop” movement. Great interview for real
Legendary
I love how Yela sets the scene to complement his music. Perfect.
So true ❤
I love yelawolf he's very knowledgeable about the culture. Love his music too.
Great interview. Interesting discussion. Kinda dunno how to feel about his response to the Royce situation. The dixie flag stuff kicked off 5 years prior, and I didn't think that was what it was about. An awkward topic though, and props for asking a difficult question
He kinda mentioned cleaning up his camp n people he had around.. supposedly one of his homies was being racist when Royce sent an artist to work with him . Hes still dodging it n saying that's his brother idk
So much honesty & growth. Love it 🔥
We’re all seeing different ads even on the same videos based on what ads we have watched all the way through before 😊
8:47 the point is it doesn't matter where it came from as long as you're putting out beautiful work who cares. Whatever music you make is the music you make it doesn't matter where you're influences come from if you want to acknowledge your influences go right ahead if you don't we still know the music came from you that's all that matters when we're listening to it
Yelawolf quieted his shooter because he respected Justin Hunte's approach.
That's tight.
6:40 you can go back and listen to The devil went down to Georgia from Charlie Daniels band and confirm this what he's saying at this point
Stereo and Talladega beat mix tapes thats what this kinda reminds me of
Great interview
We getting some tracks with KRIT?👀👀 been fan since high school, i had trunk muzik blasting through the subs
Check out fulla shit by rittz ft yela and Krit! 🔥
🎉Thanks, ROYCE 5'9 THE VISIONARY MOMENTS I LOSE REALITY CONCERNING CONVERSATION CONCEPTS CONTINUE CONCERNING FAITH ABILITIES.
The new album is 🔥
He also did a collab album with Ed Sheeran
THANKS FOLKS FOR LISTENING TO MY MUSIC TO BECOME A STORY-LINE-STORY LEGENDARY MOMENTS.
39:00 and onward .. 👽👽👽👽
The way he addressed the Royce shit made me gain respect for him.
He's not Kid Rock, wavin the confederate flag because it seems cool to some of his white fans. Like it or not, the dixie is a part of his complex make up from shit he was born into.
Yelawolf's bm and kids are black, he's clearly not a racist.. but the Royce feud made him look a type of way. He needed to speak on it
Royce 5'9 Da Man .
YELA!!! 🎤🔥
I still like Yelawolf
Accustomed To Improvised Options Opinions Welcome. Great Day To Be Alive.
❤❤❤😊
One thing yellow wolf does an has from the beginning I do my home work the rapping fast an it comes out smooth but could you image can he have a conversation I really wanted to say something elselvme
Thanks Folks Even Goats 🐐®US
The Game is the rap version of Sam Monroe Jr. 😂 look him up!
Yela didn't just wear the shoes, he kicked them fuckers off, put slippers on and got comfy
Did you know that theirs a alternative artist that told me
Spenny
jus! We need chapters on this longer form content. Great interview, he just isn't a great interviewee.
Influencer Creek Water Liquor Drink Up Don't Drive. Under the Influence.
The album has a radioactive vibe but after a couple listens it's a beautiful album and fuck all yall who hating
Yelawolf is better than your favorite rapper.
🌎🤣
Didn’t yela say some racist shit recently?
I dont recall. All I remember is some southern wyte guy said the n word to him and yelawolf didnt really say anything about it.
Man how people get it twisted up . Isn't no wonder these so called beefs exist. Dude has mixed kids. Most of his closest friends sure aren't white. I don't think he has a racist bone in his body. But I also don't see behind the scenes. Just my opinion from what I know of him. Been listening since 2008 2009. About a dozen live shows. I'm a fan of originality and REAL ARTISTS. You ain't lived it then don't rap about it. You're looking at an innovative artist who has always been a few steps ahead of everyone else. If you don't like that album today you will eventually. I personally have nothing but respect for artists who aren't scared to do their own thing and open up the lanes for the traffic coming behind them. And yelas opened up many lanes. ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Didn’t another rapper say something messed up to him about being Native American?
That’s what someone said on vlad about why Royce said what he said about yela on the track ‘overcomer’ with westside gunn. It was rumored someone from yela’s camp said the N word to a younger artist that Royce knew and had connections with that was on tour with yela at the time.
After the past few episodes it's real hard to take you seriously.
Huh?
It's all happening.
You should give them a chance. I was turned off by all FBA comments in the last one so didn’t listen until today and it was well worth it. Same with this episode - Love Story was one of my favourite albums but after all that Royce stuff I checked out from Yelawolf and this was a very insightful interview. I think Justin is as objective as you can get with hiphop journalism
Thank you.
Culturally speaking, I don't believe Yelawolf at all.
Drinking, rambling, whole bunch of non-learned lessons.
He doesn't get it. He refuses to receive the lesson.
As a country white boy myself, you can be from woods, and not pretend you are tough.
I've smoked cigars walking around the Marcy Projects, so what?
Me personally live from the south east side of chicago, relax fam. relax.
