It is a weird feeling to read comments from 12 years ago, but anyway... great contents. Thank you for the inspiration. As a new juggler, this video is a lot of help.
why is everyone arguing over this trick, i don't really think it matters if there are slight variations, most trick have variations anyway. this is my favourite version though and i think it's probably the closest to the way it's described in the encyclopedia of ball juggling
I believe the video explains it rather well. He showed quite a few different ways that the trick could be viewed as, indicating a loose translation. The end product he has and shows here is well executed with the exagerated hand movmemnts and other variations. One extra is the the real mikes mess pattern can loosely be done with 4. It creates a high reverse cascade with 3. My Regensburg Con video has a view of it :) Ludwig managed it.
Ahh, the explanations are great, like all of his other tutorials (and unlike mine, the word lazy comes to mind) However, I was just debating on the trick name itself, like my uncertainty to the Luke Shuffle tutorial, which I suggested should be called slams as Luke's Shuffle is meant to be a box variation.
Yay, new tutorial I am not sure whether your explanation is right though, there's some arguement towards what Mike's Mess is but I think 522 mills is reverse chops which may or may not be it :S
Well 522 is practically the same as 3, the only reason why someone would want to denote this as 522 is because when you mills' mess it, the hand movements are applied per beat, so mills 3 and mills 522 looks different. So that difference is negligible
That's a much smaller and looser version than what the Encyclopedia of Ball Juggling describes. The way it's described in the EoBJ is the way I teach it in my video.
are we talking reverse mike's mess which would be still 522 with the mills mess reverse throw being the throw in mike's mess or underarm catches which would be a siteswap 3?
@eMretsiM Your arms would have to be pretty dam wide apart for a 221 to work XD Seems like a pretty coll trick and easy enough for me to learn, too bad I got no balls (as in actualal objeks not guts...) to try it out right now. Is it it harder than it looks? Is it easier or harder than say Mills mess or takeouts?
221 wouldn't work at all. In siteswap, 1 is a pass directly from one hand to the other, and 2 is a pause while holding a ball. Therefore it couldn't possibly be 221.
Meh, there's debate over the technicalities of a lot of 3 ball tricks. But it certainly feels like 522 when I do Mike's Mess, and if you put it into a siteswap simulator it looks pretty much like Mike's Mess. Isn't reverse chops just siteswap 3, like normal chops?
@kaffemat no 221 wont work you cant hold a ball (2) and then pass a ball into the hand thats already holding a ball (1) and then just hold 1 ball (1) in the hand that now has 2 balls in it plus the average of 221 =1.6667 but a [22]2[21] multiplex will work but thats juggling for 2 year olds :p
thanks a lot for the tutorial! I know this is gonna sound really weird but you remind me of tajai from the souls of mischief this guy: watch?v=6NgBF35oroc

That’s so much for this, been tryna learn this for ages
SAME! Tried it last week and its so hard for me! (I keep wanting to do burkes barrage)

Great tutorial, I really love the 4 ball variation you throw in at the end.

I like the 4 ball variation at the end, I think I'll try that. =)
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for explaining that a 522 is just a cascade.
Awesome tutorial! I learned the pattern just from watching this video. You broke it down perfectly.
@bloonmaster yeah, you're right, it should be [21] which is a claymotion move and again, not technically juggling.
its kinda like chops but youre crossing over your arms. its a great pattern to mess around with, looks fantastic with LED balls if you do it fast
Sweet -- thanks!
Thanks, great video tutorial! I love this trick!!!!

Thanks for the tutorial! I fianlly learned this!
Great tutorial, Alan!
Nice tutorial!
Yay, new tutorial

thanks.. i've just wanted to know how it looks like x))) now I can do it, it's really easy... thanks again x)

thats sweet
Meagan that trick I think I have seen before a few times with clubs and balls...I would also like to know how that one works.
amazing tutorial thanks bro
It actually a 5 ball variation. ;)
That's a much smaller and looser version than what the Encyclopedia of Ball Juggling describes. The way it's described in the EoBJ is the way I teach it in my video.
thnx for your video.. helped a lot x)
I actually came up with this myself. It's easy as hell :)
are we talking reverse mike's mess which would be still 522 with the mills mess reverse throw being the throw in mike's mess or underarm catches which would be a siteswap 3?
@theshoes100 i commented that 3 years ago.. i could barely juggle, lol... :)
@eMretsiM Your arms would have to be pretty dam wide apart for a 221 to work XD

221 works as a siteswap, but this is not it, that's more like a claymotion move. I'm not even sure if that would be technically juggling.
nice tutorials!
what is the 'wrong' version of mike's mess called?
Can you make a tutorial for that Variation at the end?
im going to try to learn an 822 mills mess (4 ball mikes mess!!!) do you think i should learn the reverse fountain first or is it not necessary
oh, maybe I'll wait till I get better then.
Hmm, I think I know something a bit like that but I'm not sure about the name of the trick. Do you have a video of it?
i ment to say 511... nice vid :)
There's a link in the video description.
What's the difference between this and underhands?
Mike's Mess is 522
2+2+1 = 5 is not divisible by 3, hence it cant be done with 3 balls.
its a 221 mills mess
Still wrong. It's 522.
thanks a lot for the tutorial!
I know this is gonna sound really weird but you remind me of tajai from the souls of mischief

thats easy lol.
