+Michael C Cheer up. A fresh rumor is circulating that Honda fixed the problem, and that it has 200+ horsepowers now.
At the end of the longest straights they might have 200 more but everywhere else where the ERS could operate last year it's only a 40bhp increase. Possible, even likely that all Merc, Ferrari and Renault found a greater number. But it's a start and they must be eyeing an odd podium.

+tommy4862 in the end drivers also have to make their own luck....And Alonso has been horribly bad at picking the wrong teams and the wrong time...and also destroying his relationship first with Mclaren and then with Ferrari, and in both cases in totally wrong moments. If Alonso would be less arrogant, more of a teamplayer and less of a self-centered person, maybe things would have gone differently for him.
+Balnazzardi I think you can't know if a team is good or not. for me, he is underrated, he is the best driver on the grid, i think he has had bad luck.
+Inside Line You can know if a team is going to be good or not. Alain Prost was really good at that. He nearly won the title for Ferrari in 1990. In 1991 the car wasn't competitive anymore. Did he stay and hope for them to fix it? No, he saw which way they were going and left them. Smart guy.
Hamilton was smart too to go to Mercedes. He knew that they would eventually get it right. Alonso should have thought this back in 2009:"Is Ferrari really the right place to go to if I want a title? The Schumacher team is gone now. No more Ross Brawn. No more Rory Byrne. No more Jean Todt."
Also, a really good driver develops a team and the car to be better. A good driver gets engineers and the people motivated to do better and better. A driver isn't just put in a car to drive it. Some drivers are better at developing a car than others. The reason the best drivers end up in the best cars is because 1) They are wanted by the teams, and 2) They develop the car to be the best by being good at feedback and cooperation with the engineers and tecnicians.
No bad luck. Just bad decisions, bad cooperation or even just driving which is not up to the level of the main rivals.
"The best driver" on the grid. Who has gone without a title for 10 seasons. On the same grid there's two other drivers both of which have 10-11 more wins than him from 90-100 fewer races, have more drivers' titles, more pole positions, more fastest laps, more laps led in total and more points. Not one driver, but two. Two. Had it just been one driver, it may have been possible, but when there's two of them then it's getting difficult to believe.
Fact is he hasn't won a title since both of these drivers entered F1.
Let's see if he can develop the McLaren into a winner, or at least develop it to be better for each race.
Theodore Mosin Agreed, when Alonso left/got kicked from Mclaren after 2007, he had chance to go to Red Bull, instead of going back to Renault...and although the team for sure was just in midfield at that time, in hindsight he should have gone there and read the situation better with 2009 massive regulation changes and Adrian Newey in the team, the guy who had already managed to design dominating cars for Williams and Mclaren.
I know that almost every driver would want drive and win with Ferrari at some point and Alonso almost did win the championship with them two times, but either way, he had tried to get along with Dennis and Hamilton in 2007, he would have got another shot for the championship right the next year with Mclaren again and had he not left Ferrari after 2014, again he would have atleast better shot at it, than with Mclaren-Honda. I mean everyone could tell right away that Honda would be at very difficult position, starting 1 year later in power-unit development compared to the rest and does Alonso really have the time to go through all those reliability/performance issues with the power-unit, when he is about to become 35 years old....again the best drivers usually end up with best teams at right moment and that's pretty much what Hamilton and Vettel have managed to do, do the right change at the right time, while with Alonso it had been the exactly the opposite, except maybe the Renault-Mclaren change in 2007, but even that backfired.

I feel bad that I had to concede and miss the Canadian Grand Prix so my parents could watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono at the same time. "...This is not possible." and Stevens' response...the best.
Nicholas Strand Pocono was better. Mercedes wins. Again. MEANWHILE, Martin Truex Jr got his 3rd career win, and began the beginning of an Era. And don't even mention the fall August race, where everyone ran out of fuel, and Matt Kenseth STOLE the victory from Joey Logano and Kyle Busch. I'm new to f1 - when he was shouting GP2, what is he referring to? I understand that his engine or something was not up to par; is GP2 like the minor leagues/less complicated cars?
GP2 is the feeder series for F1 (they race on the same circuits on the same weekends as F1).
Steven Howell in Formula 1, the engine is mainly powered by the Power Unit. The Power Unit determines if your car is going to be absolute crap on straightaways. McLaren uses Honda Engines. And Honda cannot develop a car worth anything. So yes, he is referring to how his car his the slowest car on the straightways.
