brian boyd I agree, his humor is almost like Steven Wright. (Almost) Is he really not a “Novice” drummer? Seems to me it’s a character to help teach. Making him seem less intimidating to a beginner. Because he’s got way better chops than you’d assume from some of the other videos. I’m new to this channel so I might have missed something.
Cool as always, i have to thank you because you are burning in my head this hemiola concept that even if i knew about it i never practiced that much. I see how useful is because by incorporating it to different ideas is like doubling the potential of things you can do with them almost for free. Cheers!
+The 80/20 Drummer I dunno. but I'm sure with this excersise I'll understand that song. the start of something beaut , . when u mixed it up. it was so in that space . thanks again. power 80/20
A herta is that silicone Rock Creature from A Star Trek episode. the one where the humans are mining the creatures eggs without knowing it and the corner of the creature who's been killing the miners, and then the creature burns a message into the rock that says " no kill I " I which is (which is remarkable English for a rock out of practice) and then Spock mind-meldss with the injured rock to find out what it wants, only discover that The Rock comes from a race of sentient rocks whose sensibilities are much finer than human.s then Captain Kirk asked the doctor to fix the injured Rock and the doctor says "Jim I'm a doctor not a bricklayer" That's a Hertas Now a Berta that's different Bertas are those really hard-hitting flam triplet Lenny White Tom fills: Berta Berta Berta Berta Berta Berta
What is your bottom hat for your Hi Hats? I really think they sound amazing! Also I love your videos and your perspective on teaching independence and being clean as a musician.
Whoa I thought A herta was any time you played two notes of equal value followed by two notes of half that initial value? Am I missing something is is the what you're playing different?
Always working to make it better/easier to grasp! It's easy to say something complicated but it takes true skill to make it accessible to everyone, and I've got a long way to go:)
Purdie always gets credit for the 'creation' of this beat, yet it was used by drummers before him (they just never got the credit!) Also, Jeff Pocarro took this shuffle (the Rosanna Shuffle) and took it to new heights. Good Job with the lesson.
+Gary Cost True, though I suspect that Bernard wasn't paid as handsomely as he deserved to be for his contributions to the records he played on. Also, loooooove me some Jeff. Man was he bad. Need to do a Jeff lesson.
I think if a person is having a problem getting their mind around the 'shuffle', try spending some time playing the Liddo Shuffle, by Boz Scaggs. The triplets will get you 'feeling' the groove.
Does no one get this guys humor??
Fregg'n funny shit !!
On spot comedy , dry humor.
Love it.
