Hello ! Just saw your video on the z8 for macro. Perhaps you might be able to help me with the following. Is there any way to use focus shift with flash. There’s no issue with the flash recycle time as I can shoot on continuous low with the flash keeping up no problem. I just can’t get it to work on focus shift. There is some discussion online but nobody seems to have a solution !

Well, I'm not that big of an expert on focus stacking (since I don't use it that often), but I just did a test with my Godox and Nikon speedlights. Both worked, but I had to set the interval to 1 second. On 0 seconds the flash didn't fire. Kind of defeats the purpose of it at 1 second interval, especially when shooting insects to be honest. I think this may be a firmware update fix, unfortunately :(

I discover today this channel and immediately subscribe.
One question about the live view mode: in this scenario (dark ) it’s more useful than activated the night photography mode?
    Thank you.

Thanks! I've used the Live View mode for years on other Z mount cameras and so it's been my go to for macro photos. In most situations it works well. In super dark situations the night photo mode might work better I imagine. I haven't used it that much, to be honest.

I stumbled across your tutorials on macro. My shots have been nothing short of poor... some of the tips you've given me have elevated my images instantly. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.

Do you custom set your flash when using, or will TTL work?

I use custom flash settings, just to have complete control. I’m sure TTL would work well too though

Buongiorno! Complimenti la segue da molto tempo…volevo farle una domanda? Il setup può andar bene anche per Nikon Z6II? Grazie! Good morning! Congratulations, you've been following you for a long time…I wanted to ask you a question? Can the setup also be suitable for Nikon Z6II? Thank you!

Thank you, thanks for watching! Yes, I have something set up similar on my original Z6, but use the custom user pre-sets/settings instead - so that's U1, U2, U3 on the dial.

It is indeed 20MP Z8 FX = 46MP, crop factor = 1,5 so DX = 46/(1,5)^2 = 20MP. The crop factor is squared because both sides of the sensor are cropped with that factor. @Blinsaff Thanks for the video! My Z8 will arrive today and I will setup with the help of your settings.
