    Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

I thought strength of west was allowing many ckind of cultures in same mostly christian value set, but US has abused that dominance by forcing americanization, undermining that base.I fear this can cause more fracturing now that decoupling from china/russia is happening, but it inevitably casues less innovation and solutions, potential when that tight grip forces people in same mold. Weakness is most visible now that US struggles internally with cultural aspects, but if everyone else has to do same battle, it's not as strong a whole.

      Higher interest rate = lower stock market as you can get a safer return with out risk

    • @Koalogy
      @Koalogy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In broad terms a stock portfolio that begins when central banks pivot to lowering interest rates will generally see better returns in the intermediate term than a portfolio that begins when central banks are starting to raise interest rates. Rising interest rates reduces spending in the economy which reduces consumption which reduces the profits of companies. The effect is intensified on companies that are seeking financing or who’s business model relies on low interest environments because it will be harder to get investment and more expensive to get a loan which hampers growth and can lead to businesses faltering.
      edit: long term i.e. 10+ years it should not really matter much and if you are following a broad market DCA strategy then I see no reason to stop investing unless you will need the cash in less than 10 years time.

      @Edward Kohler so in turn that means higher interest lower stock market, lower interest higher stock market? If inflation rate goes up dies the stock market go up, wouldn’t that make the cost of everything rise just to have lower interest which wouldn’t benefit anyone then eventually would be a severe crash?

      It seems like he is trying to answer the question (Is China a good investment?) by listing the most important problems and risks in China, which he does. He says 25% of the economy is real estate, and the majority of savings (the number is 70% btw which is nuts) is in real estate, that's a huge issue, he talks about the debt crisis and how deep rooted it is, it's insane. He mentions the authoritarian crackdowns on the tech industry (but doesn't mention the larger scale crackdowns on many other industries), he mentions covid (and again this is huge, China is fucked they can't open up because their vaccines are not effective against these newer strains and they have almost no natural immunity in the population because of draconian hardcore lock downs last and this year.) He mentions the demographic problem (which will decimate China worse than any other country.
      He actually does answer the question well, the answer is ; Listen here are these immense, insurmountable problems, four or five of them, what do you think is China a good investment? Of course it's not. But I have invested billions in it, (and so has Blackrock, the largest investment entity in the world, their advice was to TRIPLE DOWN on China) and so I can't tell people the truth or else I lose, in fact the whole western world will lose trillions if people realize how fucked China is in the long term.

    Compared to most American, Ray is relatively unbiased on talking about China. But you can see that he is extremely careful on this topic. He has to patchwork 5 "major" issues before finally admits the future is bright 😂. For example, if you check the percentage of 65+ old people on world bank website, this number is 12.5% in China and 17% in the US and 21% in Germany or France. Did you even hear these are issues for these countries? No. They have more severe problems.

    The basics he talks about need to be delved into further.
    1. The education system is based on Victorian Era of creating obedient workers.
    2. The working class can't save because the central bankers use Inflation and Debt to steal any chance of accumulating savings. They print and buy up real assets. Pass on debt and reduced purchasing power to the middle class.
    He says nothing about creating real jobs, building real things in America, and helping the country of his birth. The focus is where "he" can "invest" his capital. Not creating a better USA with investment here, not in communist controlled CCP China.
