Thanks for sharing the fun video Kyle! I was at a musky clinic about 5 years ago in Madison and they had a guide from Canada as a guest speaker. He recommended using pike for bait. I always wanted to try it; I'm glad you did! You were so close to getting bit. I would have been pretty amped up seeing the big fish swimming around my bait! Dave
I don’t know of anywhere in Canada it is legal to use pike as bait. I have seen musky come up and grab pike that you’re reeling in so I know they eat them.
My view is if it’s legal there is no difference between using them as bait or part of your bag limit to eat, some might not like it but any serious pike fisherman out there Have problie at least once in there life have been reeling in a small pike and had a Muskie destroy it reeling it in and can see why if it is legal some one would want to use them. That’s why there are different laws in different fisheries.
Just found your channel so not sure if you've tried it, but I've used small mouth before, I like 9-11" and they work great. Tons of energy and really attract in the skies.
In WI you can use any legal catch as bait, but it counts toward your limit (use a perch for walleye and the perch counts toward your daily limit). Not legal in all states
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman edited because my original comment was argumentative. Hope the following helps inform your understanding as the claim you make isn't well supported by scientific study.. As well as the pain I have to ask you to consider stress as well. A ple knows it is at risk of being prey. It will have experienced serious, unnecessary suffering.
Are you declining the numbers of pike being able to spawn with each other ? Like here in NY , people wonder why game fish like this are on the decline cause of people like you 🤦♂️
No, here in Wi they are a very good at reproduction and are overpopulating many lakes. That is not a problem here. Me killing three is nothing. My clients this year probably kept 30 or so
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman I’m a avid fishermen have fished since I could tee in my first fish as a young in so a solid 15 years fishing, I don’t agree with what your doing I hope one day you grow up or grow out of what your doing . Dislike for me sorry!

@@TGS940 you have no idea how this works.. you asked about spawning. We’re working on opening a spearing season thru the ice. You can already keep 5 a day on most lakes. Some people call them a trash fish is this about the fish or me? Thanks
Better tell folks to check their laws.....Illegal in a lot of places!!! Can't use Game fish as bait......
You bet!
When he said he heard it for a guy in Canada I was like. Nowhere in Canada is it legal to use pike as bait.
Yup.
It’s a game when these fish steal your tungsten and one tens

Man I’d love to know what Lake this is. 🤔
right after you caught the largemouth i could tell you were thinking about using it😆

Oh wow sounds like it not sure how some people would feel on that lol
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman the lake I use them on is over populated with smallies. There's no size limit because of it.
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman and ya, some folks would probably be upset but some folks would probably feel the same about pike
I bet you got them leaders from Charlie! LOL
What kind rig would you use for using bluegills on lakes that don't have pike?
Just like the one we had in the video. Check Zleaders
Try a walleye next!!!!!!
now that's an idea!
do a bass next
what state can i catch musky in im in up-state NY can i catch them up here
better luck next time!
how was the T-bone?
Amazing lol
Lots of content
Thanks!
That was pretty cool. Should've used that largemouth though, that would've been the key to catching a musky vs getting a bite from one! 🙂
Big *no-no* where I'm from.
Kinda interested 🤔
that's fucked up, is that legal/

No.
Yeah, really not a fan of this despite it being legal where you are. It seems like a really unnecessary volume of suffering and stress.
It’s the same when you put a worm on a hook. It’s fishing. Thanks Joe!

You guys are people who give fishermen bad names
Holy smokes why?
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman your using a fish that doesn’t have strong numbers as a whole that could spawn and or breed as a fucking bait

Well Atleast glad to hear your trying for sparing season , and about the fish. Nothing against you just don’t find it bait worthy..
Today's angler fucking ruining everything....... But why do you have spinning gear you shouldn't be running quick strikes on spinning gear
It’s an age old trick. I have it on spinning because it works just as well.
