If this "Cross-Theme" concept works out, I'd love to see Lego apply it to their other oldest theme; Castle. We've already had a Creator Castle set, City could have village houses or boats, Friends would obviously have princesses, Technic would be a great opportunity for siege equipment, or maybe a clock tower? Little bit outside of the tradition medieval, but LEGO is sensitive about flinging things.
What a cool set. Not something I would build but my kids would love it. The playability looks amazing, especially for small hands. Not too much chance of them dropping it while zooming around! Great review Sariel!
Great review as usual! This is a big favourite of mine to go for. It's been a little while since we got a great value large Technic set. Probably since the function rich Heavy Duty Tow Truck from a few years ago. There's flaws to this VTOL for sure and it's not quite as function filled or refined looking as the truck, but I can live with them as its value is virtually untouchable. It's very big, still got a lot of functions and play features, and it's still so much cheaper than the truck. Its size probably dwarfs a high majority of other sets of this price point.
Lego needs to increase the size of some of their products to allow for the Spaceships, vehicles and houses to be piloted or inhabited for fuller enjoyment by exotic lifeforms.
The airlock frames aren’t new btw, I have some from a space station (I think it was the lunar one) from a few years ago, and they just connected the modules together.
New for Technic, true, but there's been one set with a gimballed cockpit before, and that one rotates 360 degrees; the UCS B-Wing. I'm sorry, that was super nitpicky.
@@ericpaul4575 even that doesn't save some sets. The Material Handler for example, was much more expensive than this VTOL set, despite being relatively small and have no licence to it.
Great build Sariel 👍👍 and a Great set. Rant on: Dear Lego i hate blue double pins go back to Black. Rant off Keep building great sets in the future. ❤️❤️
It would be nice if someone could make this set more compact, so that you can use it with the other new space themed sets. My Technic skills are not that good ;)
there's a fix for the loose landing gear that lets you lock it into its retracted position, also pulls the rear skid in a little further when retracted. there's a technic lift arm that connects roughly in the middle of the 2 connection points of the fake hydraulic cylinder on the rear leg. move this connection point 1 hole down(so 2 free holes above, 1 free hole below) the aircraft will tilt slightly forward when landed, but when retracted you can push the part of the rear landing gear arm that sticks through the top of the frame against the handle to lock it so it doesn't drop by itself.
Not really... mindstorm were about space too, cybermaster too... tho in the recent years ( after 2000 ) the only close one was the discovery mars rover, not really sci fi, bit still about space and a truly great set ^^
Probably not going to happen, sorry. It's a very expensive set and because LEGO doesn't support me anymore, my Patreon supporters are sponsoring my reviews and they recently voted against reviewing this set.
Note: this video is NOT sponsored by Cerveza Cristal ;)
What music plays during the speed build?
🎶CERVEZA CRISTAL🎶🎸🎸🎸🍺
What is with that meme.

We are getting friends castle soon :D
I like this set, full of clever and well developed mechanisms, and it looks pretty cool too!

"not something I would build"
Why? What's wrong with it?

Great video! I love the music choices for the new march reviews. They mix so well.

interesting.
Which lunar? The lunar space station? Cuz i have that
@Sumanyu270 it's similar to the 60277, but I think it was bigger
@@Ekipsogel dang you replied to me on a 7 month old comment in 2 hours
@Sumanyu270 just dug up the instructions, it was the 60277.

For the amount of stuff that you get, Lego could honestly have even charged more for this set. Astonishingly well-priced set.
Cheaper due to no license fees.

WHere I was loosing the hope in Technic, they finally give us well priced set that is not a boring realistic car without unique features
This fun VTOL spacecraft was design by Famous Uwa Wabra.

Personally i don't think the hole in the middle is a bad thing i feel like its could be a stylistic choice and it looks good!
lol at the first cerveza crystal moment i was like WTF, but at least it gets noticed :D
I can't believe those panels weren't in red before
It's not red. It's reddish orange.
@@searmei think its because of the filter you use, i already saw that in the orary video, but the dark reddish orange appears rather red
Could you compare reddish orange and standard orange?

I didn’t know this set was as big as the osprey!

Is it the only one who reminds me the Hunter Killer from the Terminator saga? - the V-shaped rear wings, the 2 adjustable engines and the general line
I wonder how you rate the authenticity :P
Nice review and I really don't like this new color.
BTW I don't understand the joke with the beer :o
You are building so fast, 1300 pieces under 3h 👌

The only osprey we deserve
If I could only pick one set from this entire Space wave, be it Technic, City, or otherwise, it'd probably be this one.
Imagine being 10, you come over to your friend's place to play with his awesome new lego dropship and he hands you that pissbaby rover.
Am I mistaken, or is this the first Technic set with a sci-fi theme?
Kinda? In the late 90's there was a purple and turquoise "Cyber" theme. I guess that could be sci-fi adjacent.
Not really... mindstorm were about space too, cybermaster too... tho in the recent years ( after 2000 ) the only close one was the discovery mars rover, not really sci fi, bit still about space and a truly great set ^^
There was the autonomous Volvo loader a few years ago (if you consider short-term sci-fi)
the truth is- we all know what this set really is. Now just to wait for astronaut model 800
