Applause. That’s a throw back my youth. Wonderful. Dustbin lid trims on early Sierra. Yup yup yup. Some exceptional unexpectional cars. Looks like best car show year. Brilliant.
I watch quite a few channels from the UK, Hub Nut, Furious Driving, Johnny Smith, I drive a classic, Jay Emm, and Lot 76 and one car I never see any of at the car shows or even a review of is a first gen 1981 Honda Quintet.
@@AllanT-nu4rw and to be honest I’d have to think very hard to recall if I’ve ever seen one too. I seem to recall seeing they were sold as rebadged Rovers in Australia.. or maybe I dreamt it!
@@Lot76CARS Well at least you are aware as much as I am how elusive the first gen Quintets are now. They are just as rare as a late 70s Mitsubishi Celeste which you cant seem to find these days either. I have not gotten a definitive year for the Australian market Rovers but all of the brochures show an updated version, aka mid year cycle refresh model with the larger headlights. What years did they sell them as rebadged Rovers there, because I have one with the Australian compliance plate and its a first gen 1981 model Honda Quintet that was built in Japan.
11:57 Not only that! In fact the design was a rejected proposal for the Citroen Xantia. No wonder i always liked the Espero, i think it looks special and not like the usual boring stuff that came from Korea in the early 90s.
As well as the reworked Mk2 Astra etc they did produce some cracking designs like the Espero and the Leganza (a rejected Jaguar proposal). In fact I even made a video about Daewoo.
@@Lot76CARS I'm not sure. I can't imagine the Matiz body having just two doors and wearing a Fiat badge. Also it looked too different from the rest of the Fiat family. But maybe it is like hearing that in your favourite movie the main character was supposed to be played by a different actor. "What?! No way, that wouldn't have worked!".
That 19 is an early phase 1 and in the more luxurious TSE specification. Much of the underpinnings were carried over to the first gen Megane. How interesting that Applause looks like a saloon but has a hatchback where as my Mégane coupe looks like it has a hatchback but has not. The BMW E36 looked so much more modern than the E30.at launch with its smooth headlamp covers and wrap.aroumd indicator lenses. The quad headlamps and kidney grill though leaving no doubt as to what the car is. Not much space inside but that ergonomic dash still looks good today. The blue bird was often seen as a taxi in the UK. I've driven the same car badged as a Maxima in SE Asia a few decades ago and it actually drove really well. The mk1 Laguna predate the key cars which was first seen in the MK2 Laguna in the early 2000's. This MK1 is a rather interesting trim level as it's an RTi which was the sporty one and in these pre facelift models it's 2.0 engine was the only 16 valve in the range. When the cars were facelifted all engines received four valves per cylinder. Love that rover R8. There was another racing green three door outside if the concours. A 214 SEi.
Thanks Mark, I remember going with my parents to buy an E36 (just a 316i) and the dealer being desperate to sell them his remaining E30, but to be honest the new car was a big step forward but with a few quality issues. I thought the Mk1 Laguna was far more appealing than the Mk2 but hadn't noticed the unusual trim level. I was amazed to see 2 x Applause...
@@Lot76CARS yes. Too true. Only Pony being the Yank Pony cars. The new Fisker Ocean revealed yesterday another interesting car to play with the main legacy brands. Funky Cat a silly name I now adore. Got it right. Silly name. Lots attention !!!!

Enjoyed that thanks Simon. Great quality picture and sound.
Thanks Peter, I had so much recorded I couldn't fit it into the first video!
Thank you for this second upload, very much enjoyed the first now enjoying the second! Cheers.
Much appreciated... I was worried it might have been a bit of FOTU overload, but there was simply so much to see this year!
I had some much fun at FOTU this years I've put together another (shorter) video with the very best of the rest!
9:15 Keycard came with the 2nd generation Laguna, the one that got famous for achieving five stars at EuroNCAP.
Good point, thanks!

Check out the rear window sticker on the R19...😊😅😂
Yes😉it’s a great website check it out, they have my sort of cars!

Indeed, you’re right and what a cracking looking little car that was! Maybe Fiat missed out.

Btw: the reworked Nexia/Mk2 Astra would have worked perfectly as an Opel or Vauxhall.

Hyundai early days. Pony pony pony !!!!
Could you get away with calling a car a Pony now? Maybe, if the Chinese can call one Funky Cat there is some hope!
