Roald Dahl certainly comes up with some humorously strange and quirky plots. LOL. 😂🤣 This one reminds me of his story where the husband gets stuck in the house lift and she leaves him there! However this is worse as he won't get to die. Oh my! The moral of the story ... be kind to your partner as you don't know where life (or death!) will take you!!
This was also done on Way Out a television series Dahl hosted and I think all the stories were based on his work. It was also adapted for The Price of Fear, a British radio series hosted by Vincent Price.
Fantastic! "Disconnect the phone as I won't be needing it any more..." if only for this the revenge would be bittersweet, for all the women kept infantalized in doll's houses, as irrelevant mindless extensions, up to the cases of those wives burned on stakes alongside their deceased husbands, extreme but fundamentally the same principle... even Einstein applied the same tone and expectations to his brilliant physicist wife in her own right.
I think you could be right. Several of his short stories were published together in series with similar characters and themes. So it’s very likely that some of them overlap.

Oh my God, is that what had happened in that story? I thought the husband had had a heart attack upstairs and she didn't go up on purpose
I just listened to this with my IB DP Philosophy students in Moscow, Russia: Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Hey Boethius. That’s awesome. I hope a lovely discussion ensued. 😀👍

I've read this story a few times before and it just occurred to me, knowing Dahl's work, that Landy and William were probably lovers.

I would love it if you could narrate the "Eddie Dickens Trilogy". Your voice would be absolutely perfect for it!

I didn't really care for this one. A bit predictable.
To you, maybe.
