"Silk Smitha" is a very popular model actress in 80's and 90's. Rest in Peace :( This movie has cameo which made fans more hyped and the movie is worth the hype. I saw it in theatre. SJ SURYAH is on another level, underatted actor.
SJ Surya is very multitalented, a great writer, director , actor, also music composer for one of his movies .. he stopped directing as his interests are mainly into acting.. but it would be great if he directs more movies especially like Vaali and Kushi . other movies like New and Anbe aaruyire became quite a controversy for the adult content in it ..

SJ Suryah is the cop in Maanadu, the time loop movie with STR. Also the lady "Silk" who appears in this movie sadly passed away in the 90s and they've recreated her digitally. Vishal is a good action hero and he seems to be playing multiple roles here due to the time travel theme.
It is not a recreation.
She is a real actress in this movie with great resemblance of silk smitha.

Vidya balan 's movie "The dirty picture" is inspired by the life of famous actress Silk Smitha.
That's why one of the hero got shocked while seeing "Silk" in this movie.
If u r looking for Sci fi there are some gems in the recent years, like Indru netru naali, Maanaadu (not suppose to be scifi, but has time loop), oke oka jeevitham and 24
They do not react to anything from the movies Manadu and Pathu Thala. Even Yuvan and ARR Music is there. I think they don't like STR.
The girl there called 'silk' is the same character whose biography was dirty picture by vidya balan! She was quite famous in the 80s. Unfortunately she is no more. And it's a great cameo and vfx, like they have brought her back.
she's a lookalike model of Silk and they have done recreation through both makeup and VFX possibly to show her slim (the model is a bit chubby).

It was a fun movie.... Just watched it... The duration cud have gone down by 15 to 20 mins.... And soooo many fun minutes... This guys S J Suryah... OMG.. He just nailed it.... ❤
1. In 90's there was a really famous movie done by super star, the movie is called as "Basha" and the antagonist of that movie is "Mark Anthony" done by late actor Raghuvaran.
2. Even the sound in the last "la ga la ga" is also reference to another super star"s movie "Chandramukhi".
Guys! You should explore SJ Suryah. The one korbin liked from the trailer. He's well known for his unique direction and his performance as negative roles are extraordinary.
Try to watch "Vaali" (directed by him, starring Ajith Kumar) and "Isai" (he did almost everything, story, script, acting, directing, music for this film).
Try to explore him, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
He was a good antogonist in Spyder movie too....

The name of the movie is "Taramani" it is slightly inspired by the Kubrick's eyes wide shut !!
