    Great video! Your Mastiffs are totally awesome. I was researching dog harnesses for large breed dogs and thank goodness came across your video. As a former Dog handler and Pet Sitter, I have always dealt with various size dogs; I am trying to help my housemate find the proper harness for her St. Bernard who currently weighs 200 lbs. I mostly deal with him, so, walking a large breed dog who is reactive isn't much fun. Your video has helped me narrow down the search for her and him. The cooler months are his favorite of course and I'd like to take him out more, but, don't want to be injured again so I will be looking into helping her find the right harness per your wonderful video. Again, thanks! Flo Saforo

    Dang, thought this video and your excellent product discussions brought me to the perfect harness for my Great Pyrenees. She is ridiculously friendly and reactive, urgently wants to greet everyone and everything. And she's of course strong, the pulling is very difficult for my aged, arthritic hands to manage. I've been through several allegedly "no pull" harnesses so far without success. Saw the mention of Duo, and I went to their website, watched videos for the Direct harness. Looked perfect, but then I saw the $180+ price for the large size. Can't spend that much on a harness unfortunately. Will keep looking!

    Thank you so much for this video, one of the best ones I’ve seen. Also, your dogs are beautiful.
    I have 2 large breed dogs. My 5 yr old female is a Rottweiler, Husky, German Shepard mix. She’s about 100lbs, and I have the truelove harness that I got off of Amazon when she was younger (about 1 yr old), it helped with her pulling and reactiveness to other dogs. My second dog is just a pup still. He’s a Bull Mastiff and Dalmatian mix. He’s 9 months old and already 80lbs. I’m currently using a rabbitgoo harness on him, it’s helping. He’s young and still obviously learning, but we’re getting there.

      @BigDogMom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! Thank you so much! I'm thrilled this video was helpful. I haven't heard of the rabbitgoo harness. I'll check that one out. I have a new harness coming soon that promises to be a "no pull" harness, so stay tuned for that test. My Junior is still too friendly when he sees other dogs, so we are going to test this out.

    I have a Dane/Mastiff mix and I use The Perfect Pace. It is a head halter leash combo and it was the only product that I found to work well to stop my dog from pulling. A vet tech suggested that I try a no pull head halter. The only problem that I find with these products is they don't make them in big enough sizes for Large breed dogs or they are not well constructed.

    • @BigDogMom
      @BigDogMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn't agree more with your last statement about sizes and construction! Honestly, I have more leashes and harnesses in my laundry room - I could open a small shop to sell them all! And of all of those that I have, I use two regularly. So you are spot on! I'm hoping my channel can bring awareness to brands to pay more attention to the needs of big dog owners for this reason! That said, my Junior has Wobbler Syndrome, so I never recommend halters, leads, or collars that fit on the head and put pressure on the neck. I'm not saying they don't have their use... but for us, they aren't a good fit. I'm thrilled you found something that works for your Dane. I will look this one up. I will also tell you my plan is to do more videos on how to train a reliable loose-leash walk. I feel that is at the root of the issue for most big dog owners and even a few great tips will go a long way in making walks more enjoyable. :)

    I own a lovely Malinois and Lab. Both trained well and raw fed which I am convinced puts their minds in a great place. I am looking for a great tandem leash. I am so lost on pros and cons on which one to purchase.

    I, too, live in Arizona and have two big dogs that are brothers one litter apart. They are "Mountain Mastiffs," with dad being a Bernese Mountain Dog and mom being an English Mastiff. One is 100 lbs. and his "little" brother is 120. I like the larger, fabric harnesses you showed. Any recommendations?

  • @alexgorron6470

    I know there are good options for large breeds, but I have a very powerful Jack Russell that can pull out of a standard collar, and several harnesses I have bought, which have stated strong clasp, have all busted open to release the kraken when she sees another hooman or dog. They were the full vest type of harnesses. On to keep searching.

    • @BigDogMom
      @BigDogMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hummm, this is a much different challenge than I'm used to. One thing that comes to mind is that the Duo Harness I mention in this video works with compression on the chest so it doesn't rely on a clasp. Perhaps something like that would work better for your JR? Here is a link to their site... www.duo-gear.com/discount/BIGDOGMOM

      My Jackie sounds the exact same, I have the halti no pull (the one from the back) and I find it's perfect and he cant escape it, so really gives you control without pressure on the neck, it's great for small dogs, I wouldn't however try one on my GSD I dont think it would work as well

    Loved your video. I have a 10 month old female St. Bernard puppy named Farrah. She’s a little over 100lbs and expected to reach 160lbs like her mom. I’m interested in the full body harness and she is professionally trained and does well with loose leash walking. Still growing so which one do you recommend? Thanks!

    I tried an easywalk harness on my dog - yeah, it helped with pulling, but it was awful for him. It restricted his movement *so* much despite being properly fitted (according to PetSafe's guidelines), he was going up stairs like an old dog with arthritis when wearing it when normally he can bound up and down them like a spring chicken. I just can't justify continuing to use it for my sake when it's clearly so uncomfortable for him :/
    I'm going to give the PetSafe 3 in 1 harness a go since I reckon that'll be better for him whilst still being able to manage his pulling.
