That's the most beautiful reaction any composer could ever get from those who listen to his music! I'm sure Mr. Isaac would like this very much - it's why music matters, and also, let me say, many thanks towards Mr. Midi, for providing this fine new upload!

Thanks Al. I have a particular fondness for Herr Isaac. I also enjoy his contemporary compatriot Josquin but I love Isaac in the same way that I love Handel (comparing to Bach). Isaac and Handel touch the soul in a more earthy and intimate way, I feel.

@@Alberad08 You are right: music matters. And yes, many thanks to earlymusicmidi. And to Isaac too. And thank you very much for your kind words. "I hope the music plays forever".

Lovely! But *what* was that on the back of the carriage in the Altdorfer portrait? It looked like a black swan or maybe an anhinga or something? I'm sure that it was symbolic, but do you know what it symbolized? I've never seen anything like it before. Anyway, the music is exquisite as always and really improved my day!

It looks like a rather fat, black crane/heron (long billed)...probs. being taken along for the Feast later? It looked pretty dead to me!

@@tamaveirene You're right: that beak is really heron-like. And I was just reading about the sorts of fowl they served at feasts back then, and a heron wouldn't have been at all unusual. Thanks!

Hard to say what bird it is 🤔 Altdorfer frequently includes fantastical elements in his illustrations that may have had meaning to him but to no one else.
