Was servicing my wife's 2010 Spyder RS SE5, changed oil, coolant, replaced light bulbs with fancy LED ones, fixed some minor frame damage, adjusted throttle cable - things like that. Fired this thing up and got VSS failure, check engine and limp home - P2545 and C0040 Turns out, it was due to LED brake lights. Lower resistance and current draw... Changed back to incandescent ones and all codes were gone in a puff
Oh man that was a good looking Spyder RS👌 Sorry about the dudes attitude, but on the upside we got to hear some awesome tech advice and for that I am grateful👍
SOOO jealous of the beauty of the leaves out there. Seems like our leaves here in eastern Ohio are either late or are just gonna turn brown and fall off! I keep promising the wife we're gonna get to see some in a couple days. I started that three weeks ago, lol. Thanx for the vid!!
Bummer with the owners attitude Shawn, but it is a nice looking RS. I just don't understand why some people insist on putting car tires on their Spyders. Anyway, you and Momma have a good day. God bless, Rob
Outside of your vlog, do you ever get the chance to educate the customer? I was the receiver of a customers bad attitude last night, and I explained the problem to him, but I couldn't make him understand it. Eventually it clicked and he apologized to me. I really admire your attitude. Happy Hump Day! Peace and love.
News flash from 1960. Before you open your BIG MOUTH, you had better know what the hell you’re talking about. Nuff said!! And you know not getting paid really chaps my buns. On to the brighter side, at least you enjoyed the rip to check out the work you’re NOT getting paid for. Ooops. That slipped. Stay safe and remember Mr Ambassador your time WILL come👍🏾
Seems like the older vehicles whether car or motorcycle are going to have problems and when you work on them you will get blamed for those issues that will naturally rear up. I think that is why so many dealerships won't touch older vehicles. Nice looking RS though.
Hello, videos are cool. But now I have a question. Can’t bring my issue to you I’m about 3000 miles away. 2019 can am spyder fs 3, the orange and tan. No neutral and no reverse. In dealership now with no answers waiting for BRP to advise. Happens intermittently however I think now it is in that state I would appreciate any ideas so I can convey to dealer without saying where info is coming from. Dealership are good people. The only thing I did is install a few leds keeping accessories away from system by installing an additional isolated fuse block. Please advise and thank you
I am confused, why won't you get paid for the repair you carried out? If it was nothing to do with the previous work then why is the customer not being asked to pay?
It's the trade off of a service department... If the customer walks away with a bad attitude and mistrust if he's being honest in his concerns it will cost the dealership more then fixing it and calling it a day! They obviously won't blame Shawn but the word of mouth of a customer is really important in small business! Now this customer can't say a word about his service the dealer made it right even if they aren't at fault. As a service manager of a different product we get this kind of customer all the time.. We have great techs but you just have to deal with this kind of situation when it comes around. Maybe not right in the regular world but in the service world you do what you can to keep you business moving forward!
Yesterday was stupid customer day. Short version:They were remote and I connected with remote tool. My vpn doesn’t work. Ok. Let’s walk through it. Needs to be updated. Update. Ok, we’re all good. No. When she opens a link from a friend (this computer is for work) for a YT video about yoga, it says “this video is private”. She thought using the vpn connected to work would make it public.
I love that blue. I wish I could paint my Street Glide blue. I can relate with dealing with customers. There are sometimes misunderstandings.
That blue on that RS is some kinda purdy, and sounds good too. Working on a lot of Spyder's so close to Halloween. Good stuff Smoak's!
Thanks for showing how the park brake works, hope the customer is happy!👍🏻
I'm 1st 😁 just on my way home from work will watch later ... Can't wait! 👊

I spent time as an auto tech. What you talked about was part of why I gave it up.

I think some (not all) people are just cheap. They know If they play the MAD CUSTOMER they can get it free or at least at a discount.
Very sad 🤬
