You did a wonderful reaction. Iam sang the anthem beautifully. He gave the words such gravitas and feeling, it felt like I was hearing them for the first time. He made it about the anthem- not himself. That stadium was packed, so there were at least 48,000 people there. Iam sang this without his guitar, no musical backup. It was straight a cappella. Chris Stapleton said he was extremely nervous when he sang it, and he's 27 years older than Iam, He's also an experienced singer/star, played his guitar and wore sunglasses- both can add a layer to help counteract feeling "naked."
Iam didn't look nervous, but he said it was nerve-racking for him. He was so focused on not messing up, he forgot to remove his cap. (There are longer videos that show him realizing it was still on his head. He was embarrassed and quickly removed it.) Iam apologized for not remembering in his nervousness, and he said he felt bad for that... and still feels bad. Here's the thing- all of us make mistakes. It's what you do afterward that shows your character. Iam didn't blame anyone else. He took full responsibility for it, and he apologized (multiple times) and promised to do better. His parents instilled strong values in him. I wish him lots of happiness and success.
He’s still a young teen. Winning AI pushed him into so many opportunities I’m sure it’s like a whirlwind. We all make mistakes, we’re human. This kid is talented and I’m buying everything he puts out.
@@twilyumz Agree. Also, what a huge difference for him from last year at this time. His mom and aunt said that Iam had stopped singing. He only started up again when his mom entered him into the American Idol tryouts.

Iam apologized because he said he was so nervous he forgot to take his hat off, even after his uncle reminded him before he went onto the field. I think it was one of the best renditions of our National Anthem!
He sang it acapella, no music, no instruments, just his voice. Plus, he was obviously very nervous. He did a great job with his version of the song. Fk the haters

He definitely forgot. At the end of the longer videos, he realizes it's still on his head and is obviously embarrassed. He wasn't trying to make a statement, because Iam is very patriotic. He has apologized for the mistake all over the place. He said that he felt bad for it, and he still feels badly. It just flew from his mind when he saw how large the crowd was (over 48,000 people), and he was worried about messing up. With so much going on - not having his guitar, singing a cappella, singing this for the first time, singing in different ranges, etc it's no wonder he didn't remember the cap.
@BobBradford Sorry to clutter up your fantastic reaction post, but I just wanted to give you a head's up. The person ranting about Iam, in all caps, is doing the same thing on other posts. He's not even an American, so this has nothing to do with our national anthem.
