I really got into Editors during their In Dream era (I knew and loved the hits before that, but didn't consider them one of my all time favourite bands like I have ever since). As a consequence, I was often confused by how many fans lamented Chris's departure. However, hearing this (and other life performances from the ITLAOTE era) I have to concede that something precious was indeed lost.
ITLAOTE remains by far my favourite Editors album. Perhaps this is due to it being the climax of creative tension between differing visions for the future of the band. The atom split, the light of a thousand suns shone. Thankfully, no one was killed in the blast, except for a future that couldn't have been.
