Pastor Darren, Wow how fantastically spot on! This chapter has so many great things, the glorifying of Jesus through the razing of Lazurus, and the the importance of the necessity of faith, and the knowledge that we like Lazurus and more importantly Jesus will be raised to new life. Just simply amazing! Thank You.
What a beautiful chapter! I am so humbled to know that Jesus cares so much about us that He risked his life for us and we are all an example of Lazarus. Thank you Jesus for shedding your blood for us🙏🏾❤️
Now this chapter is my favorite in John.it made me have so much more faith! Our father is so so so powerful he forgives us and know we can archive anything ! He see the best in our when everyone else around sees the worst!
Hi, my name is Thomas. It's just over three years ago that I lost my brother to cancer. I was at his deathbed, singing to him, and reading from the gospel. First I read from 1 John 3 and 4, but when I started to read from John 11 my mother got all upset and yelled at me to stop. Her name is Martha. Standing by my side at the time was my earliest childhood friend, Jonathan. Back in 1984, Jonathan was working for the singer known as Prince. He was at the recording session for this song, a huge hit back then: "I Would Die For You". 35 years later, he showed at my brother's deathbed, along with I, Thomas, and Martha. My brother was a rock n roller. He was at Jimi Hendrix's funeral, whereat the Rev. Pat Wright sang-'What A Friend We Have in Jesus'. My brother had performed at live shows with Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison (The Doors), and Janis Joplin. The last thing I said to my brother alive was the opening line to The Righteous Brothers' "Rock N Roll Heaven". Oh, Pastor, when I was young, I was very non-believing and sarcastic; but He overcame all that: John 20:28. No doubt about it. Amen.
Thank you for this buddy! I'm an Atheist but am studying the Bible as a foundation to better understand Western Literature...I think it's so important. You read that as sarcasm...interesting take on it. I'll keep my eye on sarcasm as I continue to read. I find that the numbers in the Bible are crucial to understanding symbols, 1=God, 2=Society, 3=heaven, 4=Earth, etc...
If you compare Thomas’ “strange” comment to what Peter says in a similar situation, Matt 16:21-28, it actually appears Thomas really understands who Jesus truely is
thank you again Pastor Darren..for the teaching and the reading of the words of our Lord and Savior...Pastor''may i ask you, how can i denie my flesh so can get closer to the Lord...or a scriptures...
I laughed so hard at the thought of Thomas' audacity to be sarcastic towards Jesus if that were in fact his intention (I really hope not LOL). Would you consider that maybe Thomas was actually being quite literally, especially after The Teacher has taught them that those who do believe may never die but will have eternal life? I think Thomas was being the "hype man" for his fellow disciples, expressing that they should be prepared to die along with The Son of God. 😄
It sounds like the "him" you think Thomas is referring to in v16 is Lazarus and not Jesus. I'm curious to know why you think that and any evidence you have that supports the point. Thanks.
