If you are on the Lvl 998, save your stamina and walk straight. when it is the darkest point, start jump-running. There's a shortcut to levels which is the negative hub that you can find on the hole in the level -5 and I was almost killed by the smiler during the darkness in the 8:12

personally i think you get tp'ed back so quick you usually don't see the "footage lost" screen, or maybe 998 is just old
