what a great piece of social history, mr harkness is to be commended on it, amazing to see ivor crow trawler owner and his brother in law sconny in it having a pint in the royal standard. i used to work on the marchon boat the odin and know most of the characters in it well. my wife hails from workington and was pleased to see all the old shop owners and managers as her parents had their own shops at the same time.
I am so glad I found this and it was just by chance I came across this video last night… the Capt of the dredger John ball is my grandad he died when I was only a few months old in 1980 i obviously don’t have any memories and only know story’s my parents told me about John ball working on the dredger.. I’ve only ever seen pictures of him and have never heard his voice and after a phone call with my mam to double check she confirmed it was actually him what a special video for me.. Does anyone know how I can find the full video the documentary team made because it cuts off.
