I've been driving manual for 10 months now. It definitely becomes muscle memory, and you enjoy the control you have on your car. You really focus more on the road after you pick up enough skill.
Am relearning Manuel car transmission I just purchased a Fait 500x 2016 and I love it! it’s awesome once you learn and practice and I completely understand how you feel great video!
I too bought a manual car without ever having driven manual, watching this brought flashbacks to driving home the first night, scary as fuck! I don’t regret it though, cheers to being bold!
It was literally one of the scariest and happiest days of my life! I was excited to get my first car, but when I actually had to drive it I just kept thinking, "Wtf did I just do!?" I'm glad I forced myself out of my comfort zone, though. Kudos to you for doing the same thing!
I was terrified of manuals. It was really scary since most of the time i was going to drive in heavy traffic. But once i got behind the wheel, i could feel the car and its engine. Its like after a while, you and the car become one. I have never experienced this with automatic transmission. You’ll love it.
What's wrong with heavy traffic? Traffic jams are good times for you to play with the clutch and gears. If it is high speed, you just put in 6 and drive like an auto, no fun at all 😂
i did the same thing today. i ended up in the middle of Chicago with no option but to drive out of the city whether i wanted to or not. also had stop and go traffic to deal with. it's definitely worth doing. also the BRZ is sick
That’s awesome, my first time driving a manual was scary too. Now I love it. Congratulations on doing something different a lot of young people today would never try.

I had a mini panic attack the first time I was stopped on a hill! Luckily my passenger helped me by setting the e-brake and then slowly releasing it after I caught the clutch lol I still get a little nervous whenever the car behind me is too close
Shoutout to dude behind the camera giving you that confidence boost! That alone goes along way! Sick Car tho I have a 03 Impreza wrx that’s manual and I love it!
He really did a great job! I was self-conscious at first but his small compliments (like saying "that was a good shift" or "did you really downshift that smoothly?") were really encouraging
Just did the same thing today but with an STI, man is that monster intimidating but I'm finally getting comfortable with driving it and its the first manual I learned to drive xD
Adriana. Congratulations on choosing a magnificent car more to the point a manual. I have been driving for twenty years and all my cars have been manual. I only drove an automatic car twice. Trust me you're going to have a lot of fun if not already, driving your Subaru. You have got an incredible taste.
Just got mine last monday 2018 honda sport hatchback 6 speed , and I have to say your start from stops in this vid were very good lol I stalled 2 times on the last 1/3 of my trip home off the lot and still. My friends say I should have saved myself the anxiety and got a auto but I wouldn't trade it for anything even if I'll stall it 100 more times
Congratulations!!! And thank you! What you don't see in the video is me overcompensating while rev-matching lol I'm much better now and I 100% believe that learning how to drive a manual car makes you an overall better driver. More aware and quicker response rate. GLHF!

i just got a manual car without knowing how to drive it and it took me less than a week to drive it somewhat comfortably, i still got a lot to learn but atleast i dont stall at evey green light lol
My advice to anyone new to manuals is to first get your left foot acclimated by using it to brake on a normal vehicle. It’s akward at first but lil by lil you start building muscle memory and strength in that foot so when you do begin driving a manual your left foot is already trained to used the clutch pedal. Driving a manual is all about be smooth and applying slight changes to the pedals. The more you drive the easier it becomes. It most certainly becomes second nature. But to me that’s the fun part everyday you get in your car your adding to your experience level and your only improving. And believe me it’s worth the time and effort. It makes you a better driver over all. Because your constantly paying attention to the road ahead and what revs your car is in. So In turn you have much more control over all of the circumstances around you. Last but not least it’s so gratifying and reward to know that you are in full control. Especially driving a sports car. There’s nothing like it. Cheers and enjoy. Be also be safe.
@@adrianaxduron Also, in my opinion we have more control over the car in a manual car ! Plus according to most manual car drivers, they even get the feel of increasing the speed after shifting the gear, which is missing in automatics.

I've had the BRZ for almost 5 years now! I'd like to think I'm pretty good at driving manual, but I definitely still panic when I'm getting out of a parking spot haha
I learned how to drive a standard on a 2012 Subaru Impreza Hatchback. It was frustrating and scary at first but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. My dad and stepmom taught me and they had a Honda CRV that I drove all the time. They traded the CRV in for a 2017 Subaru WRX though so I had no choice but to learn how to drive standard as I was driving their cars at the time so I ended up learning standard and I drove the Impreza on a regular basis after learning. At first, I hated driving the Impreza as I didn't know how to drive it and I liked driving the CRV better but once I learned how to drive it, I loved it. I also got to drive the WRX at times and I loved that car too. They got rid of both cars a couple years later and I missed driving standard so much. My first car was an old automatic Honda Civic but I promised myself my next vehicle after that would be a standard. I owned 2 other Honda Civic's since then and both of them we're standard. I now own a 2023 Subaru WRX that's standard and I love driving that car. I will not go back to driving an automatic until I'm forced to. My dad and stepmom have a 2023 BRZ that's standard and that car is fun as hell to drive as well (don't like the rev hang in it though). I'm really glad I learned because it makes driving so much more fun.
I got my manual before I knew how to drive stick. i convinced my brother to do the same and he bought my dream car (prelude) and then i bought a manual acura CL type S. we learned on the first day it wasn’t that bad !

After deployment I had to relearn the H-pattern with 1st gear being in the top left, took about 10-15 minutes around the dealership then I drove the miata back to the barracks. Have fun in that thing!
Just got a manual seeing this video made me more comfortable you literally hopped in a drove it whos to say we all can’t do the same thing. I wise man once said “learning manual is the most overrated thing I’ve ever experienced”
Every car I've had has been a manual. The brz is not a easy manual car to drive. The clutch engagement point is very small and at the top. The car doesn't like to be driven slow. The car likes it when you rev it out and beat on it. Good news is after getting used to the brz you should be able to drive any other manual pretty easily.
Also going into buying a manual without knowing how to drive it! Car shopping is hard, especially on a low budget, so it's an advantage to be flexible.
25 years ago I bought a new manual 97 Integra without knowing how to drive it. It takes a while to get used to a new car--and to throw a manual transmission on top of it seemed daunting. But I knew I'd regret it for the rest of my life if I bought the automatic version. Since then I've only driven manuals and buying that car was the best decision I've made.
What's surprising about a manual gearbox? In my country, you learn to drive in a car with a manual gearbox and you pass your driving license on this. Everyone treats a manual gearbox as a totally normal thing and everyone knows how to handle it
I did this and it sat for 10 months other than going to the shops 10 minutes before they close twice now I drive every day more than I need to just for fun
ahhahaa lord knows i would not know how to drive manual. i just got myself a 2020 nissan versa sv. i'm a toyota person but i def dropped the gun too fast at the lot and it’s what i ended up leaving the lot with, LOL but I am grateful. This car ended up being so perfect for me. All glory to god! i have videos of my car on my channel too, videos about the process of getting my car, decorating my car etc.. love these type of videos.
I did this exact thing last September. I don't know how I made it home. Tons of TH-cam videos later, and driving almost everyday has gotten me to a great point.
I think I just did it a moment ago. My wife asked to get a new bag and I said no for the first time to her. Now I am enjoying the free wifi in the ER...
In '06 I did the same thing a former friend who was fed up teaching numerous people how to drive manual transmissions and I was the last one I got just enough know how to limp the car off the lot without stalling and the rest was all on me and my first several hours were spent on the steepest 35-45° hill I could find and practiced until I got it moving without a second thought
Don't worry madam you follow this steps break+clutch and start engine put it into 1st gear for every gear change 1st take right foot from accelerator then by left foot fully press clutch then gear ok If you want to stop car 1st gear down smooth break then fully press clutch then fully break have a nice journey.
when i bought my first manual car, i’ve never driven manual before, and i had to do a 3 hour drive to my home, it was a fun journey but definitely worth it 100%
Tnx so much I never drove a manual car or any car yet will be learning tho but I’ve wanted a manual car for ever and I think it just help decide to bite the gun and do it I have studying TH-cam vids about it so Tnx for the peace of mind😊
I just learned nearly 18 percent Americans drive a manual, while the rest of them drives automatic shifts. I didn't know it was so common there. Driving schools here have manuals, I never heard of them having them automatic but some probably do. It's not that difficult,i know. Still, I think they would have to since someone up there decided new cars can only be electric in 2035 and they all have automatic transmissions if not buttons.
Yeah, not many people drive manuals in the US. Some people jokingly say that the best anti-theft for a vehicle is manual trans haha. There's also the #savethemanuals trend in the "car scene"
I've been driving manual since 2018, it is second nature now. I can drive a manual and not think about. I can have a conversation with my passengers, plan my weekend, whatever. Also bought a car without knowing how. Never even stalled on the test drive. It took 3 weeks before I got to the point when I thought I was competent and 3 months before I was doing it without thinking about it. As for the last time I did something for the first time, today actually. I diced a cucumber instead of slicing it. lol!
I was scared too don’t be ashamed. I stalled 4 times at a green left light and a couple of stop signs but I learned how to drive Manual that day and I don’t regret it one bit. I drive a automatic Honda Civic 2012 lx and I’m going to sell it and buy me a Honda Civic 2012 SI
teach yourself man. i just bought my first car an 8th gen civic si and i was embarrassed stalling it and chirping the tires the first night but it all comes together in due time, practice makes perfect. i still struggle with hills but it all will come over time
I learned at 25! You can totally teach yourself by watching TH-cam videos if you don't have someone to sit with you in the car. I honestly think make it sound more complicated than it actually is, but you will be bad when you first start and accepting/acknowledging that makes the process easier :)
@@adrianaxduron thanks for the advice. I work at a dealership and when I get the chance I’ll practice driving a manual car. My only concerned is parking on a hill since my house is on a hill slide. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.
*How to Start moving a started cat from zero speed on a Flat Road* 1.) Push clutch down. 2.) gear 1 4.) NOW USE GAS. YES YOU USE GAS BEFORE LIFTING THE CLUTCH. I use About 1700 RPM if the road is clear of obstacles. Use Less if its a cramped space. 5.) Lift the clutch to the Bite Point, gradually. But once you’re on the bite point. STAY THERE. For a few seconds. Because the bite point is when the clutch is actually causing the RPM of the engine to match the RPM of the car’s wheels. It needs time to do its job. Naturally, as the RPM of the wheels are catching up the engine’s RPM, of course the car will start moving and accelerating forwards. Congratulations. Your manual car is now moving.
I’ve been wanting a manual transmission car I’ve been looking I’ve never driven one, I’ve seen this video and you did real good 👍, I’m going to do like how you did and go all in thanks 🙏
I have no one to be beside me to help me. I’ve been praying to god to give me a sign if it’s a smart move to buy a manual. But it’s really really what I want! I want to learn something new I want to challenge myself and accomplish this! Do you think I can do it ?
Yes, definitely! If it's something you really really want then totally go for it! You can teach yourself just as easily with TH-cam videos and asking friends or even stopping by a driver's education place.

Just got a manual seeing this video made me more comfortable you literally hopped in a drove it whos to say we all can’t do the same thing. I wise man once said “learning manual is the most overrated thing I’ve ever experienced”
Hahah yes, if I can learn then literally anyone can. I even went ahead and got my motorcycle license a year later!
If it's your first car best practice in the parking lot before going on the road.
It was my first manual car but I had a little bit of practice years prior. Just never got the hang of it haha
I knew you had some type of experience.
Don't let fear hold you back from anything.
I haven't heard that before! It's actually really encouraging because I fear that I won't be able to drive any other manual car lol
Great teacher too!!!!
Everyone treats a manual gearbox as a totally normal thing and everyone knows how to handle it
The majority of Americans learn and drive automatics
I did this and it sat for 10 months other than going to the shops 10 minutes before they close twice now I drive every day more than I need to just for fun
I always have so much fun driving now!
Haha love watching things like this, makes me feel not alone when I first drive one
Please come to Hyderabad, India. Drive a manual car and then you can decide whether Manual is the right choice for you.
I've never left North America XD
Wow this is awesome! Thanks for the encouragement / challenge!
ahhahaa lord knows i would not know how to drive manual. i just got myself a 2020 nissan versa sv. i'm a toyota person but i def dropped the gun too fast at the lot and it’s what i ended up leaving the lot with, LOL but I am grateful. This car ended up being so perfect for me. All glory to god! i have videos of my car on my channel too, videos about the process of getting my car, decorating my car etc.. love these type of videos.
same with me bought my first car a 2001 integra never drove manual in my life
Learning stick in a brand new performance car! If you can learn in a car like that, you can drive any stick shift. Congrats!
Thank you!
I did this exact thing last September. I don't know how I made it home. Tons of TH-cam videos later, and driving almost everyday has gotten me to a great point.
most cars in the uk are manual. we like to change gear
I think I just did it a moment ago. My wife asked to get a new bag and I said no for the first time to her. Now I am enjoying the free wifi in the ER...
Yikes haha Sometimes new bags are life though *shrug*
In '06 I did the same thing a former friend who was fed up teaching numerous people how to drive manual transmissions and I was the last one I got just enough know how to limp the car off the lot without stalling and the rest was all on me and my first several hours were spent on the steepest 35-45° hill I could find and practiced until I got it moving without a second thought
I did the same thing and it was the best decision ever
2:01 I don't really hate it. The car behind me might hate following me though. It depends how patient they are.
Don't worry madam you follow this steps break+clutch and start engine put it into 1st gear for every gear change 1st take right foot from accelerator then by left foot fully press clutch then gear ok
If you want to stop car 1st gear down smooth break then fully press clutch then fully break have a nice journey.
I LOVE THIS!! This is literally gonna be me soon😭
Congrats!
when i bought my first manual car, i’ve never driven manual before, and i had to do a 3 hour drive to my home, it was a fun journey but definitely worth it 100%
How did you do?
Tnx so much I never drove a manual car or any car yet will be learning tho but I’ve wanted a manual car for ever and I think it just help decide to bite the gun and do it I have studying TH-cam vids about it so Tnx for the peace of mind😊
You're welcome! Good luck and remember to have fun!
A girl: This is my first time its so scaring...
Right after, the same girl: mastering the stick all the way through the city.
hahahah It was honestly terrifying but I had my partner there to take over if I needed to pull over
Picking up a subaru sti, never drove stick before 😆 going to be fun
SWEET! Congrats!
I diced a cucumber instead of slicing it. lol!
I bought this same car without knowing how to drive manual
Lmao I bought a Genesis coupe 3.8 track in manual and couldn’t drive it for weeks I was just staring at it waiting lol
xD sometimes when you stare at a problem long enough it solves itself, right?
I so am happy that I was born in 80s. I miss the old days when driving a stick shift was the norm.
More videos with your car please
About to take it out of storage! ^_^
I literally stalled yesterday at a green light lol I was very overwhelmed with other things and my brain just shutdown so I forgot to use the clutch 😂
I always wanted to drive a manual car. I’m 23 and I’m about to get a new car soon. Just wish I have someone to guide me on how to drive one.

teach yourself man. i just bought my first car an 8th gen civic si and i was embarrassed stalling it and chirping the tires the first night but it all comes together in due time, practice makes perfect. i still struggle with hills but it all will come over time
I learned at 25! You can totally teach yourself by watching TH-cam videos if you don't have someone to sit with you in the car. I honestly think make it sound more complicated than it actually is, but you will be bad when you first start and accepting/acknowledging that makes the process easier :)
@@wiscoSTi I still panic when I'm reversing out of a parking spot lol My brain misfires and I forget which foot is supposed to move first
@@adrianaxduron thanks for the advice. I work at a dealership and when I get the chance I’ll practice driving a manual car. My only concerned is parking on a hill since my house is on a hill slide. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.
*How to Start moving a started cat from zero speed on a Flat Road*
1.) Push clutch down.
2.) gear 1
4.) NOW USE GAS.
Adriana did you like driving stick?
It's fun when you're not in stop-and-go traffic! I have a lot more control and feel more confident in my driving awareness/capabilities.
I’ve been wanting a manual transmission car I’ve been looking I’ve never driven one, I’ve seen this video and you did real good 👍, I’m going to do like how you did and go all in thanks 🙏
It's a great learning experience and totally worth it!
You can teach yourself just as easily with TH-cam videos and asking friends or even stopping by a driver's education place.
damn i'm surprised by tha amount of people who dont drive manual
Congrats on ur new car It's very nice. Boy u sure learned the manuel within minute's normally it takes at least a few weeks to get the hang of it or if that. Idk how u learned it within seconds. Unbelievable!!! Lol.

I learn how to drive manual through video game call assetto corsa, i got so use to it in game it actually improved my skills in real life 😂🔥🤙🏽
We need an update!!
🎉
I did the same thing with my 370z
Is always best to take a chance or you will never know
just did the exact same thing!!
Congrats!
I farted in my grandma’s face when she was asleep.
It was a wild experience!
So other countries do their driving test on automatic cars?
Here its forced to be manual
I took the test in my parents car which is what I learned to drive in. I believe it's standard in the US to take the test in your own vehicle but I'm not sure
@@adrianaxduron oh nice to know thanks for the info
I think the US version is more practical because every body can learn it with what they have
We have 2 automatic cars in our house and i had to learn driving automatics after getting my license because it is forced to be manual here
I did the same thing two months ago !
Did you actually have prior experience driving in general (automatics) before buying and driving a manual transmission car for the first time? And if you did, how long were you driving before driving a manual for the first time?
I got my driver's license when I was 16 and had only driven automatics until I bought the BRZ when I was 25.
