I made the mistake of watching this great video around 11PM last night. It made things very clear and inspired me to stay up til around 1:30AM practicing the intro. Slumming at work today - you owe me a coffee Marty!

Haha! I remember learning this song before you could look it up on the internet, I learned it to show off to my dad too, made him mighty proud,ha!🤣
Marty! Way to go my man! I'm 60, and this was one of the first real songs I learned on bass, perhaps back in 79, hell, I even had a Rickenbacker! So now, 40 years or so later, I've been learning acoustic, and just bought my first electric a couple months ago. I was pretty much determined to make this the first Rush song I learned on my Casino. (not counting songs that crossed over from the acoustic)This was so awesome! Lest you think I didn't have the sound, I had my Casino going through my new JC-40, with both come chorus and vibrato, and about 15-20% distortion. The compressor helped as well. Made it really bright but still a bit gritty. Hard to believe this comes out of a Casino! So much fun! Most likely I'll never learn the solo, but playing rhythm throughout the solo is just a blast while Alex solos over me! Can't thank you enough!!!

This is the first song I learned how to play on a guitar and you definitely play it different that I do but it sounds the same way... you have taught me how to play a lot of songs now and I really appreciate it the videos are very awesome
Thank you so much for doing some Rush. Alex Lifeson's guitar work can be a real intimidation but you took it on, and best yet, teach it so clearly. My son and I have learned it now and just today he made someone's jaw drop with it. "You can play Rush? That's hard stuff!" (insert gaping stare in awe here) So thanks so much again and keep it coming. Maybe some leads too if possible. If you are looking for some suggestions, Boston is always great and maybe toss in some 38 Special. Keep rocking Marty. I recommend your channel all the time.

At last found a rush lesson, and its from my fav Marty music ,
10:09 For anyone watching and having difficulty placing their fingers for the C major triad without deadening notes I found that placing my index and middle finger on B and e respectively and my ring finger on G helped a lot for when you slide down to pick as well as playing the chords.

@MartyMusic Thank you so much for everything you do. Your videos have helped teach me, a complete beginner with no instrumental experience prior to getting my Ibanez, learn how to play at least half of some of my favorite songs. I'm working on the other half but riffs seem easier than melodies 😂

Roll Machine, then his classical acoustic stuff from the Never
Surrender record I was a massive Triumph fan still am I love when I

When sliding up to the 15th fret, I suggest using the pinky and ring fingers, since they are already being held down on the 3rd fret during the previous G chord. At least that's how I play it. Nothing wrong with the way you play it. And thank you for sharing. More Rush please.
